Well said. Christian rock/metal probably saved my life. I loved bands like Styx, Queen, REO Speedwagon as a kid, but then my mom went to one of those Satanic Panic lectures............ she even considered Petra evil. Thankfully as an adult now, I can be self aware of what to listen to..............I mean seriously........... sometimes it feels like the only thing that will soothe my sole is a really good guitar solo. Nothing beats a David Gilmour solo when I'm really needing that. The Live performances of High Hopes and, of course, Comfortably Numb. Anyway, now that a complete stranger has given you half a life story.............. blessings!!!!!!
"Human Code" Mikes present band. Really good. I'm with you. I actually ended up at a club that happened to be Christian Rock night. Excepted Christ that night. Jim was the worship leader. Lol I'm laughing because I'm watching this video and thought. Jim is so cool and he could careless. Barren Cross was all about their ministry.
This brings back memories. We all went to the same church, Bible studies and gigs. This video came out "Headbangers Ball" lol MTV. We would all make sure we went home lol or somewhere, where could see this video on Headbangers Ball. Good times.
People like to mock this band as a glam version of Iron Maiden, but the problem is that Iron Maiden essentially took a musical direction very similar to this in the early 1990s. I wouldn't put Barren Cross' catalog up against any of Maiden's classic 80s catalog, but compared to "No Prayer For The Dying" and Bruce Dickinson's goofy solo album "Tattooed Millionaire", Barren Cross is actually a good bit better.
Funny to me to hear anyone call them " glam " because for the life of me I cant see what they have in common with the likes of Poison, Warrent, Faster Pussycat, Cinderella etc...
@@moosemcgillicuddy7585 Musically they are not glam, the closest example I can think of tangentially connected to glam that they sound similar to would be W.A.S.P. circa 1984. Their image is the only thing that really comes close to being glam, albeit more in the Dokken sense rather than Warrant or Poison.
My friend Pete Rossi paid Mike Lee $1000 to sing all 10 songs on his debut album called Think About It, by Sanxtion. It was a very highly rated CD and the music was fantastic for its time but it sounds dated today. They were featured in a bunch of magazines getting high reviews. My friend Pete Rossi died four years ago from fentanyl. I miss him every day. Mike Lee has a fantastic voice
I had this on cassette back in 1988 and was completely blown away by this song :D Only a few years ago, did I see the video for this since the only time they aired the video on MTV was during the headbangers ball late at night.
But U.S. metal was influenced by English rock... that appeared after those English boys listened to all rock and roll, blues, country and gospel that got to England in the market trades between both countries. And country also has its roots in U.K. and Ireland. But B.C. music sounds true NWOBHM, and I love it all.
@@marianriecken8390 Desde quando puro heavy metal precisa ser britânico? Pare de ser poser... Essa banda é tão metal quanto todo esse cenário de metal por ai
I’m here because Chris Jericho has talked about them many times on his podcast Talk is Jericho. I hear Bruce Dickinson so much in his voice. Good track
The song is profound for me today. I am revisiting my early new life in Yahweh's family listening to this band. I have come along way since then and I have concluded that most music is superficial at best and really is a form of imagination or even an imaginary type of world. As far as real answers to life's many issues and ultimate realities it is just another dead end road. I have found that the best answers for me have come from simply reading my Bible, spending quality loving time with my family and family of faith, and really making honest connections that matter with other people being led by Jesus as to how and what to do, say, and expect. This has really worked for this hedonistic, depressed, angry, lost fellow and continually pays off. private worship and prayer time with the most beautiful and kind inexpressible person in the universe is also essential, I just saved this part for last because it all flows from this intimacy with Him. True peace. 💮
I guess there was a man called King David who disagrees with you ... as well as many other musicians that were performing in the Temple back in the old days. No metal perhaps, but hey, .. it was music.
I don't think David would disagree with me about MOST music. David's worship and true temple worship would fall outside of those lines and into worshiping in spirit and truth. Definitely not in the majority I was referring to. I believe real answers can be found in the Psalms of David and other spiritual songs and hymns. But not much in most music.
If not for Christian metal, I would never have grown in the Lord. I found my "spiritual mentors" in the lyrics and liner notes, in magazine articles and at concerts and festivals. If not for Christian metal, I would never have dug beneath the surface nor crack open my bible. It's about seed planting. Several of my friends were won for the Lord through the witness of mix tapes and allegory. I agree that the ultimate goal and experience is to have intimate worship with Christ/God/Holy Spirit, but until you reach that maturity, he meets you where you are......at least that's what he did for me.
@@coolnegative well said and good points. Yes I definitely think these concerts and band where there to mostly seed plant. Also to give youth a fun and good outlet. I’m kinda rediscovering the old Christian bands I listened to. I’m enjoying the process..👍🏽❤️
MTV had a couple of Christian Rock videos. Christianity hadn't attached itself so closely to the political Right as much back then. Midnight Oil and Sixpence, None The Richer were also Christian Rock.
Muy buena banda. El cantante tiene una influencia notable de Bruce Dickinson. Realmente me parece espectacular y el sonido característico de los 80' es legendario.

Love the music, the words, the band members (met them at Cornerstone Festival, under a tent worshiping spontaneously with acoustic guitar). But the sound is so far off from the video here, it might as well be a 1950's English-dubbed Godzilla movie.
They were super talented and helped me through a difficult time. Every bit as good as any secular band.

the shitty glam maiden
