i like how all the honesty and important talk happens outside. they're more honest with what they want and their smoking is their flaw that symbolizes their moral indifferences and their willingness to be "bad" outside. tv is their childish wonder but you can argue it wasn't about the tv at all but the fact that humans inherently want and care for each other and will hop on any excuse to be together. both of their empathy comes from feeling like an unworthy children. perfect scene imo.
