    If you click "SHOW MORE" in the description above your be able to see Links to the Tools 🔧🔨🔧 I use. Also Clickable Chapters📋 📙 throughout the video and other Links 🎬 that may be of interest. I've had a few viewers request where they can buy the tools they see in some of my videos but it's not very clear that the "SHOW MORE" tab has a lot of information in that may be of interest. Admittedly the amazon links are associated with me and I would earn a small commission which helps towards keeping the channel funded.

    Another great video, my wife’s mini is an auto, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching and love the amount of detail! Nice one Mark 👌

    I marvel at the amount of gear you have Mark- Well done, tools for the job etc. I remember removing my sons engine from his fiesta without a hoist by myself...I jacked it up in stages onto blocks with a scissor jack and rope...No animals were injured in the process...I would be looking at some measurements to check clearances before I fit that tube. It could be that the one you removed is actually too short?

      Hi Patrick, the secret to me is I prefer tools to cars lol, I actually haven't had a car on the road for a while now as I see tools as more use than the car itself. Bit strange really but given the choice of £210 road tax or an Engine support beam my logic says engine support beam and walk to local shops. I guess I'm lucky I can work from home so a car isn't vital to me and my wife drives so anything else she will collect for me.
      Apparently the tubes snap a lot I have since found out. I believe the tubes are meant to be greased with a special grease which I now have otherwise the release bearing can stick and the force of the slave cylinder will actually tear it away. Makes sense now thinking about it.

    Excellent video. I have a question : is ir necessary to change the Clutch Release Bearing even if it’s in a good condition ?mi clutch failed in my Mini cooper 06 (totally burned) tanks

    • @CoatsandGaiters
      @CoatsandGaiters  Год назад

      Thank you, The logic would be why not change it as it's cheap and if it fails your have to take it all apart again. I even put the part worn clutch back in but I'm very tight with money. Most would not advise what I do.

    By any chance, do you have a recording of the noise/rattle the mini was doing?
    My R53, has a rattle and no shop can seem to locate it. It sounds a bit faint and only under hard acceleration (specially when leaving stoplights). If revving the engine in neutral I don't get the noise.
    Really great videos, thanks to you I'm setting up to work my car at home. Cheers.

      Really appreciate the offer but my videos tend to be on standard procedures where I have a workshop manual to hand. How come your not wanting to fit it yourself? Would the ECU be different on the R53 to the R50? I say that as my Cooper is much more powerful than the ONE I currently drive and I presume it's down to the ECU being mapped differently. Sounds like a fun project. I'd love an R53 but the prices are going up and up now.

      @@CoatsandGaiters just seen it pal. The getrag box was fitted in the R50 and also continued on to the R56. The midland gearbox was used up until 2004 in the R50.
      Also it’s easier to take the front radiator off to get the gearbox in and out. Put your trolly jack to support the engine ( lNo need for engine support) and you can lift the gearbox off and on by hand. Much easier and have fun with it.

    If you put the box back on you may want to replace the clutch fork. They wear over time. You can order the tube separately…… let me know.
    As im writing this… some minis have a different fork design so in your case this problem is non existent

    • @CoatsandGaiters
      @CoatsandGaiters  3 года назад

      I'm have a bit of a weird personality trait and it takes a lot for me to order car parts even if it makes sense to save time. I'm one of those that will only buy a part if its broken beyond repair. I've replaced that tube but I would have welded the old tube and put it back in if I felt I'd get another few thousand miles from it. I'd be no good in business as I wouldn't charge the customers for parts if I could attempt to weld or make something to do the job.
