This is such a good idea but I feel like it would be literally impossible. She built a house worth a million before and it was absolutely massive. I don’t think you could spend a million on a tiny house! 😊
I genuinely believe that the subtle saucer light should be the default light that they use because it gives off more light than any other light in the game and it doesn't interfere with styles you're going for because it's not like you'll see it anyway and you can change the colour of the lighting to look warmer if you want it to feel like a candlelit vibe but still save money
@@nfldshorty21 There was one four days ago, which was the circle house shell challenge, a room build less than a week ago, and off the top of my head, I think there was a tiny home circle, an apartment, a restaurant, and a modern mansion recently. Although she does do a lot of smaller home/pack limited homes, I think because she feels bad for people who don't have many/all the packs.
@@nfldshorty21 going off what @Thea Rose said, she has said before that she builds more base game/limited pack builds because she wants people who actually play the sims to be able to download her lots, and if she uses less packs, her builds are accessable to more people; she references the days of the sims 3, before she made videos, when she would watch sims youtubers and feel jealous of all the packs and sims 3 store items they had that she couldn't have because she was a kid. by posting base game/limited pack builds alongside unlimited pack builds she is trying to make her channel more inclusive and more fun for everyone :) /nm
Kayla I think you need to build less base game only houses and just have fun with all the packs. Your builds are great, but even better when there are no pack restrictions 😍 I totally understand and appreciate why you do base game only though!
You should do a "realistic" renovation on say a derelict build from the gallery. And you can only do realistic changes, like maybe take down a wall or two, add a modern extension etc. No changing all the windows (unless theyre a similar size) no entire new floors etc etc....
Whenever Lilsimsie does a "renovate by EA restrictions" build I always think about how it follows game logic but not real life logic. It's so expensive to move and paint walls irl-

I know right! To be honest, compared to real life houses in the sims are just generally really cheap. Probably because they want you to be able to just buy a house straight up whereas in real life most people have a mortgage.

Every once in a while I encounter a house irl that seems like it came from the EA team. Super high walls but no aesthetic value to the increase in height. Tiny or absent windows. No overhead lighting. 😱
I mean, my house has some high walls. I think it’s quite common in new houses here. Our doors are very long. But our walls are actually filled with things so it looks good. It just makes our house feel less cramped.
I just noticed that's a starter home in Brindleton Bay :D I was obsessed with that pack for so long and only lived in that world so I've spent a lot of time in that house lol. My dogs would always somehow get stuck in the ceiling upstairs.😔
kayla, if you are considering new video ideas i would love to see a series where you go back and fix up all the building challenge houses youve made. just renovate them and make the fit your expectations without the challenege rules
I did this challenge with this house a few days ago and I ended up deleting the entire upper floor and stairs and making it waayyy smaller!! It was the only way I could find to make it cozy. Love this reno, Simsie!!! Love your work lol
About a year ago, I moved in a family of 4 that had a bit more money (but not a lot more) and I edited the second floor like she did, plus small bathroom behind the stairs, but I think I might've made it a little bigger after shrinking the front? Because I also added a back porch and a toddler bedroom downstairs. I agree though, if I was doing it with just one or two Sims I think I'd delete the second floor or maybe rework it entirely because the upstairs is such a mess and so hard to renovate nicely and the downstairs looks so empty. (I know we can change the shape of stairs now but I think I tried that and either found something only moderately better or eventually gave up because it's just too narrow on the second floor. It might be easier if the upstairs is just an attic with a ladder, come to think of it!) lol btw I tried adding platform stairs but couldn't figure out what was going wrong so I gave up. Figured out later the whole house has to be on a platform to get the outer stairs to align properly but by then it was too late, I'd moved on and no longer cared enough to do that. If I were to try again, I might just demolish the old house, build my platform, add the first floor, and if I'm feeling spicy, try to create a better second floor.
I always loved Brindleton, that is until I put my legacy home there. It rains ALL SUMMER. I use a lot of mods so I could just fix it or cheat away the rain but as much as it annoys me it apparently doesn't annoy me enough to do that lol. Not a bad build for what you were working with!
In my save Bridleton Bay rains at all seasons. Didn’t think it rained that much in New England it’s almost like it’s based of the British weather like Henford on Bagley.

You should do a video on a house build but where everything is a little off. Like the door is one block off from the step. The window is two blocks uneven with the other window etc.
I love Kayla's builds, but there's just so much she can do with the EA restrictions ones. They are just sad and make no sense, because EA's restrictions don't make sense in the first place - there's so much more objects in starter homes now, so why this one had to be so limited! 😂 I'd rather watch a regular renovation within a budget, this just stressed me out 😕

Since we are getting close to Halloween, why not trash the place up and make it a haunted house--not talking about the lot trait, but put in bones from JA, a few items from Paranormal pack, plus put in wall items and furniture from Vampires and Werewolves packs--and throw in a little flooring and walls from Spooky day. The wooden floors and walls from Spooky day are really good and will fit the aesthetics well.
this is one of my favorite starter homes. i always refurnish and sometimes add a half-wall between the kitchen and living room meet (behind the stairs), but essentially i keep the layout. it's kind of a funky house, i like it lol

This is probably one of the best starter lots we have in The Sims 4! The view is beautiful, the structure of the house is cute, but it is frighteningly empty and gigantic👁️👄👁️ Your makeover turned out great! Would love to see some renovations in Selvadorada, Windenburg or Glimmerbrook✨

In my custom save, I redid the whole layout of this. I put an office where the dining area was, the kitchen and dining area where the living room was, moved the bathroom under the stairs, and put the living room where the kitchen ones. I feel like that makes SOOOOO much more sense than whatever's going on in the original build.
It makes me giggle that Lilsimsie has travelled to England the day that it has started to rain after no rain across most parts for over a month with temps over 35c most days (in the south - although I know that's cold for Florida)

I made up a legacy challenge where u start in a starting house (I chose this house) and ur legacy sim cant move from this lot. Each new generation has to have one more kid then the last. So by gen 8 you have to have 8 kids but also have to live on a small lot. Since I used this house I had to upgrade it alot. I'm about to go onto gen 3 and made the house similar to what it was but now with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It looks kinda cute tbh
How about trying the "real life restrictions" next? :) NO convenient "shrinking" of walls and house; careful removal of interior walls - decide which are supporting, and need to be replaced by at least beams or columns; expensive reroofing - you'll reduce your budget for any changes, e.g. 3000 for changing only shingles, but 10 000 if you remake the whole structure. But, you can "cheat" to make things functional and logical, and you can use as many object as you want (have money left for).

I was just thinking of a new rags to riches for Simsie. Actually two of them. "Can you get rich with fabrication?"... as well as with appliance upgrades (their value does go up)... but maybe that one is silly. I would also like to point out a strategy I've been using for fabrication and also dumpster diving in TS4. Don't have any sinks on your lot so that you can recycle your dishes. :)))) Oh, and woohooing in a dumpster will generate extra trash piles for recycling... and the Reuse and Recycle lot challenge also keeps useful garbage from being deleted by normally bottomless outdoor trashcans.
i used to do this as a challenge for myself on sims 3, and then i make my sims work. so i can make the house more pretty then. :) ive just installed sims 4 fr like a month now, but i have not been obsessing over it unlike on sims3.. but eversince watching your content, ive kinda having some ideas how i will enjoy sims 4 :)

I find this house (the original) hard to renovate because the downstairs is huge, but the upstairs is actually fairly narrow so you can’t make it a great deal smaller very easily! Also the stairs are in an odd spot!
Ugh... This house... To be honest, I kinda like it when it comes to the exterior. I even like the fact that there's not much going on inside. That way, I can decorate it myself with whatever I want or need my sims to have. But dear god the roof. It looks normal at first, but the vertical part above the wall with the round window clips into the building a bit and it drives me nuts when I have to look at it. And it takes all of my patience to fix it, because if I shrink that part, then I have to lower the flat porch roof and play around with the height of the horizontal roof, which takes me half an hour (if not more) again ugh. Other than that? Just a mild annoyance of figuring out the second floor floorplan whenever my sims decide to reproduce.
that's one of my favorite starter homes but gosh is it a pain to fix up. I don't mind replacing furniture but having to go in and fix the layout makes me ~~~
I have got a get rich quick sceme for Stanley how about you could start off with a hamper and then search pockets to earn cash so it could be like. Can you get rich quick of “searching pockets” in the sims. I love them videos and I think Stanley is the best person for them. Love your videos.
I used this house in my 10 Generations and I renovated it sooo much that you can barely recognise it lol (I didnt do the challenge where u have the same budget but it was so fun)
I want EA to add new basegame counters or add more colors to the counter that Kayla used in this video. I also want them to add more cheaper basegame beds. We are seriously lacking on basegame cheap furnitures. All basegame house be looking the same sometimes because we gotta use the same cheap objects over and over again.

I only like the EA build because I used it once for a save where I trapped my toddlers and kids in a room I built under the stairs 😂 I think I also purposely put the newspaper rug under the fireplace to set the house on fire at one point. Now that I think about it, I also used this house in that save file to breed dogs and I found out that puppies can’t use stairs so there was a lot of dog poop on the porch 🤣
on the gallery don’t they often post the default houses or like have them in each simmers profiles at creation? so if you placed the house over the house then it shouldnt have deprecations right? idk just a thought

Painting isn't that pricey, but moving walls is crazy expensive, and plastering walls too.

High walls/ceilings are rarely done for aesthetics it's mostly to help reduce the feeling of being cramped especially if you're tall.

I would think tall walls are a relic of older buildings without modern HVAC systems, where they needed extra clearance for transom windows and such.

Yeah i think this house is more fitting for a full reno of the inside like a shell challenge rather than the EA restrictions series.
This is one of my favorite houses in the game but the inside is always disappointing.
A couch would be lighter to run than a plant because a plant has more details and what you call in 3D modeling as "polygons"

I just got the Cats & Dogs pack and opened up this lot to look at it and I immediately went to renovate it lmao it was so bad

Oh, and woohooing in a dumpster will generate extra trash piles for recycling... and the Reuse and Recycle lot challenge also keeps useful garbage from being deleted by normally bottomless outdoor trashcans.
i used to do this as a challenge for myself on sims 3, and then i make my sims work. so i can make the house more pretty then. :)

I find this house (the original) hard to renovate because the downstairs is huge, but the upstairs is actually fairly narrow so you can’t make it a great deal smaller very easily! Also the stairs are in an odd spot!
Oh in my opinion it’s really easy to renovate and I’m not a builder maybe because I keep the layout and just replace the furniture and walls ect

The walls under the stairs always distress me, they always look weird and it puts me off my stair game.
Ugh... This house... To be honest, I kinda like it when it comes to the exterior. I even like the fact that there's not much going on inside. That way, I can decorate it myself with whatever I want or need my sims to have. But dear god the roof. It looks normal at first, but the vertical part above the wall with the round window clips into the building a bit and it drives me nuts when I have to look at it. And it takes all of my patience to fix it, because if I shrink that part, then I have to lower the flat porch roof and play around with the height of the horizontal roof, which takes me half an hour (if not more) again ugh. Other than that? Just a mild annoyance of figuring out the second floor floorplan whenever my sims decide to reproduce.

that's one of my favorite starter homes but gosh is it a pain to fix up. I don't mind replacing furniture but having to go in and fix the layout makes me ~~~

I used this house in my 10 Generations and I renovated it sooo much that you can barely recognise it lol (I didnt do the challenge where u have the same budget but it was so fun)

I want EA to add new basegame counters or add more colors to the counter that Kayla used in this video. I also want them to add more cheaper basegame beds. We are seriously lacking on basegame cheap furnitures. All basegame house be looking the same sometimes because we gotta use the same cheap objects over and over again.

I only like the EA build because I used it once for a save where I trapped my toddlers and kids in a room I built under the stairs 😂 I think I also purposely put the newspaper rug under the fireplace to set the house on fire at one point.
Now that I think about it, I also used this house in that save file to breed dogs and I found out that puppies can’t use stairs so there was a lot of dog poop on the porch 🤣
on the gallery don’t they often post the default houses or like have them in each simmers profiles at creation? so if you placed the house over the house then it shouldnt have deprecations right? idk just a thought
