Financial independence is very important for both men and women. Because you can trust no one, not even your own family when it comes to money . Sounds cruel but it's true
Well financial independence is a broad term and it generally signifies that if you have a set amount of money then you can live of it for your whole life and which turned out to be about a million dollars or about 8.7cr and the number of millionaire in India is about 5 lakh so 99% of indian population would never be financial independent so the appropriate term here is financially stability/
Am glad i broke my barriers n lived on my feet .having ur own money not depending on any n not having to strech ur hands before anyone fr money really matters . And wen u dnt have to do it it gives you a pleasant inner feeling of satisfaction.
There's a saying, "Every Coin Has Two Sides." This is just one side of the story, we are yet to hear the other side of the story. There have been many cases in the recent years, where educated girls have falsely accused their husbands, boyfriends, in laws and even strangers for their own gains. Some of the Men even went ahead and committed suicide for being falsely accused. I do agree, in some parts of Rural India, some Men still commit such atrocities on their uneducated wives and girlfriends but such cases hardly even come in the limelight. Actually it's not just financial independence that enables women to walk away, it is support of family and society. I have seen so many women in my mothers generation, earning high salary but giving it to mother in law and getting pocket money for house maintenance and then giving mil the accounting of expenditure. They have horrible in laws but they put up with it and stay with them even though husband is also patriarchal. And do all the housework after work while husband lounges on sofa and asks for tea. If their family stood up for their daughters, they would have left. Emotional support just as important as financial independence...
So true. Financial stability does add a huge plus ngl but social support is very important. My mom earn3d more than dad but she wouldn't even consider leaving him, it wasn't even a love marriage, just because of social construct n taboo

You are absolutely right, financial independence doesn't provide strength to take decision, it is family's and parents support which makes a woman able to take decision. But on the other hand it is more important to become able to be financially independent it is not necessary for anyone to do job, if she is trained enough or eligible enough to get job she is empowered.

@@enasnirercos7626 Your blindness to challenges of modern women is apathetic! Abuse happens only in rural areas shows how small your brain is and how limited your knowledge is. Abuse can happen anywhere, with anyone but children and women are prime victims. You rather than shredding on this woman's story, can think how to help victims and be a solution to the problem.

Moral of the story :Always get a detective check, even if it is a love marriage. Think of what she must have put her parents through, cause it was a love marriage. She has a lot of emotional healing to do.
Women are extremely bad at choosing male partener. Women should ask the advice of father in selecting male partners. Men easily judge eachother and think logically. Men know how to classify women and find the right partner, women also know this but since they are more emotional they fall for the bad boys. Boys or men classify females into two : Madonna or h0 , we cannot love a h0. We would use them $x but choose to marry a Madonna. Some girls also do something similar, have $x with bad boys but settle down with nice guys (this is really dangerous the toxic bad boys might throw acid on your face or do any other form of harm, don't spoil your life for fun). Women have more observational power than men, but since they are emotional and wants drama most of the time they choose bad boys instead of good guys. Good guys should choose good women instead of bad boys leftover
When I saw how she was literally fighting back with her tears i was reminded of my situation when I was in a relationship of 3.5 years. The only good thing that this happened even before the marriage thing happened..but the mental scar left behind is very painful..

Never adjust and compromise for a man and his family if they aren't willing to adjust and compromise with you. Don't idealise your husband and treat in-laws like deities, they are just humans - they can be good, bad, flawed, cruel just like anyone else. Be realistic and leave at the 1st attempt of abuse while you are young. Heed her words "anything can happen anytime" this is very, very true.
Men and their families compromise as long as the speech lasts. As soon as the ceremony is over, the woman is toast. A man's word means nothing. Get your education, get a good job and then build your life. Being "alone" is better than living in Hell. I was married twice. Never again. I've said I'd wash toilets for a living before I'd get married again. At least it's only 8 hours a day. Marriage is washing toilets 24/7. No breaks, no paid leave.

When you get married to someone (thinking you both love each other) but your partner has some hidden plans of their own just breaks my heart to core. I wish people saw marriage as a means of love and support to each other and not just as a business deal or lottery or something. When she mentioned about her father in law calling her daughter a "product of their hawas" it left me with no words. Had it been a male child I wonder how different his words would have been. Divorce is always going to be profitable. There is too much money to annull a marriage. Remove the financial incentives, and divorces are less likely, and less contentious.

Can’t we live happily together? Is it really hard to spread happiness among others, specially with ones who already loves u alot? Is money everything in life? Well the one thing that you said is something that I totally agree with, is that you cannot completely know a person unless you live with them or their family. After marriage you definately get to see a personality whom you actually do not know at all. All of what you saw until now was a mirage. The feeling is something like, had I known this earlier I would have just walked past this person without looking back. It comes as a shock and it takes a hell lot of time to digest the fact that this is it. This is what it is.
Priya Yadav said something very practical at 5:40 : _Till the time you don’t live with the family or the person, you can’t know that person._ Absolutely true! This applies to both Arranged and Love Marriages! Take the example of Katrina Kaif & Ranbir Kapoor. They were in a Live-in relationship but which broke after 1.5 years or so. No one knows what happened, but this is another proof of what Priya said. Isn't? It's better to be Practical & Straight-forward in certain things before marriage, rather than, take things for granted and get a Shock after Marriage. Marriages should be based 70% on Practicality and 30% on Emotions. Unfortunately, that is NOT the case in many Marriages.

Agree..anything can happen after marriage. Mine too is a love marriage and I'm going through the same thing 😓 Worse part is from the 2nd day of marriage, we are staying seperately with our parents (him with his parents and me with my single parent) Coz husband is giving false promises of moving out and I'm here waiting for that move from him. Although i realised their ( in-laws) intention in several instances during my visit to inlaws house. They just need my money (as I'm working) and don't even care for anything else. I'm ashamed of my decision and loosing the trust that my single parent had on me 😭. But I'm greatful for the support I'm getting from my family.💝
All men are not same. .we had love marriage ,its our 7th year and we are parents to 2 children ,still my husband treats me like child in sense of caring and love &value my words, choices ,my in-laws treats me like their daughter ,every time I think I made right choice by leaving my caste drunk parents ,
Arrange marriages mein there is dowry..u don't have an iota of knowledge about your inlaws to some extent even ur husband..if the marriage is not working they will ask the girl to adjust saying log kya kahenge In love marriage u are not sure of if u even know that person inside out. and on the top of it many parents don't support their children for the marriage is not working.. Sometimes I wonder who started this system of marriage at the 1st place
In a remote village in Bihar where I lived , I have seen Parents accepting their daughter's choice for leaving her husband days after her marriage. It's a matter of perspective all changes doesn't take place overnight. We're a society of mama's boys. I was unfortunate enough to meet two such mama's boys, one of whom I was married to, the other who couldn't even take that step. I'm gladly rid of these chomus who only cared about their own standing with their parents, no matter how it impacted their own life and their partner's. Even when the parents were wrong, or the guy himself did not agree with the parents. Sadly, my own mother also chose to take the 'society's' side and not support me emotionally. But I wouldn't regret the decisions I took to leave these relationships behind!

The thing with marriages today is that people don't clearly communicate their expectations. It's fairly common for love to completely vanish and the people to show ALL facets of their personality. And the ugly side is sometimes intolerable. Ma'am, since you only have a daughter, she may become eligible for "single girl child scholarship" if she does well in school.

I would be interested in knowing how she gauged her relationship before the marriage. A lot of people get caught in the heap of feeling love and romance that blurs their ability to see through the other person. It is always good to get married based on similar values, ethics, approach towards life etc. Not just romance and feeling of love. Cuz romance fizzles out pretty quickly in a marriage.
Respect for you mam. You took a great decision. and a lot of times people like your in laws are extremely educated have not gained anything from education apart from a paying job.
Firstly I appreciate your boldness in sharing your marriage life. I am so sorry that you had to through so much. Yes it’s important to stand on our own , have job security. Now-a-days life itself has become so insecure cannot depend on anyone. We have become bold, independent and confident to face the challenges coming on our way.
You are very brave and hats off to you for sharing your story.. I could tell you are still in the process of healing and you had a lump in your throat while talking.. proud of you for giving back to society!! We need more women like you..
I totally agree with you on the point that we won’t know the other person until we start living with them. That’s why we say ‘he has changed after marriage’.
When in love...you like the traits of the person that is going to be a problem later on. Choosing the right person with an open mind is more important than just dating. The trigger point should have been when you are dating the person.
Exactly. I agree with your point. People don't change 100% completely after the marriage. There are always tell tale sign of the person way before marriage which people consciously ignore when there are dating. The persons dark traits are often overlooked or even worse, people get attracted to it. I highly emphasize on having clear and honest communication, not ignoring red flags and choosing someone based on shared values. Unfortunately, a lot of people tend to ignore this as they simply hurry to get married based on Romance and marriage excitement. Remember the feeling of 'Romance' dies pretty quickly in marriage.
I am surprised that most people are not getting the point. They are turning it into love and arranged marriage situation. The culprits are the family , it happens in both type of marriages. And love marriages morally occupy higher ground , but the couple must be left alone. They must have privacy and power to take decisions independently. Which doesn't happen in india. Whenever there is a love marriage, the family starts to break their marriages by their vicious tactics.
We should listen to the other side of the story before concluding like culprits are the family members.. Let her in-laws speak what she did, how she treated them..
Women must pull up other women n not push down another ,hats off to your victory from these evils in your life .you have a daughter may you raise her to be as strong as you are and continue to inspire people.may God bless you and your family

So motivating.... Very helpful for people like us who go through toxic relationship and planning for divorce... Thanku

Yes love is blind. What still pains you is that despite you're so smart, intelligent, you have a great job, you made an emotional blunder. Something you find hard to accept. Self blame is your worst enemy... Forgive yourself and move on.
No everyone has supernatural power to see through a person, people normally show u the better side of themselves, u only get to know someone when u live with them. She did not make an emotional blunder, that's harsh

Please before marrying someone realize and build your own worth and status... so that one does not have to cheat and other doesn't have to feel betrayed. 🙁

Divorce is always going to be profitable. There is too much money to annull a marriage. Remove the financial incentives, and divorces are less likely, and less contentious.

Rightly said, a woman can do everything in her life. Why not to come forward and take such bold steps to live independently alone. I don’t know why humans are behaving inhumanly. Can’t we live happily together?

Live-in is so much taboo in India....but actually it gives both the person a chance to observe n know the other's real character ,personality ,habits, etc.

Indeed,👌 you even wished you never had met the person,,,..
Exactly what I am going through
Priya Yadav said something very practical at 5:40 : _Till the time you don’t live with the family or the person, you can’t know that person._ Absolutely true!
100% Right.

But i think such instances are very rare today... My parents have provided me with the best education but still I know they will question my choice if my marriage doesn't work...Definitely such practices will cease to exist in future as and when our generation becomes parent generation

Now a days really financially independent is very important for a women....
अगर आपके ससुराल वाले आपको परेशान कर रहे उनसे दूर हो जाना समाधान नहीं है उनको फांसी में लटका ना समाधान है.
