- Sandra Crawford has seen a lot in her 17 years as a New York City bus driver, but she’s never been this concerned about her safety. operators should have n95 masks, their exposure risk is similar to that of icu workers
YES!
but we're the #1 loser joke in the world! hold that head up high!
I guess corona virus is the only disease that we are exposed to..
Wouldn’t be a bad idea, but the exposure risks for icu workers who are treating and in contact with many very sick patients is way higher than for a bus operator
Sandra Crawford is an excellent Bus Operator. She always has a positive attitude and goes over and beyond to assist the customers. I worked with her and was fortunate enough to have retired just before this virus attacked NYC. Stay safe, Sandra
At 0:36 are photos of Miguel Chumpitaz and Ernesto Hernandez.
RIP my Union brothers
I definitely relate to the son. I'm in NYC and I have a parent who is still working out there during this crisis.
We have bus drivers in the UK died from it as well. You don't often appreciate what they do but without them many health workers would not get to the hospitals to treat the sick
sandra you have done a beautiful "JOB" with your son..loving you as he does!!!! wishing the best of health..thank you for working..totally agree with jogbird!!!! nyc ..is lucky to have you
Much respect to my fellow mta brothers and sisters ❤💪🏾
What a nice son, you can tell she’s a good and calm mom. Stay safe Sandra
She should take an extended leave of absence with pay. They have to offer that to their employees. Federal law.
Exactly. Also they know full well she has a pre-existing condition and thus is higher at risk then most
From one old Bus Op: lots of us appreciate you Operators, Cleaners and Mechanics etc.
We thank you from our hearts.
And we are doing this all with out hazard pay..
Look after each other...
God bless this family!
I feel so proud of you good woman as a great mom and bus driver
Praying for us all.
It is about time to show love to bus operators.
Thank you for all you do
These every day people are now being seen as the every day heroes they've always been!😍😚!
Ms Bus driver I appreciate what you are doing as I am still working too. Great you are wearing mask and gloves. If you can get some safe glasses.
Well put ms. Crawford
They ca'nt open the windows....ouch
Can we focus on how we address the encampments in the subway system and the sanitation issues next?
The burdens of life ages people in ways that are nearly unbearable, and within the struggle, comes strength. One more day Lord, one more day. W.J.
I stopped driving for uber/lyft on March 14th. A lot of uber/lyft driver's have been effected. Uber nor Lyft are doing anything financially for workers if they stop working. Uber said if you get infected they'll pay you for 14 days? What a shame!!
I wonder if people still hate the mta for wanting people to pay their fare just so they can keep their company up I wonder
I admit, it took something like this to wake me up to what's really real!
Have autonomous shuttle buses
This is atrocious. I thought Cuomo said everyone is to wear masks. The union needs to help them not hinder. Will say a prayer 🙏🏻
respect
Please go back and teach history back in schools it should tell you they are putting their lives on the line we can stop now by opening up slowly like the data says to after we all back up yes we need to salute and take care of all front line employees they didn't get an option
The problem is that the passengers are stuffed in the back in the bus, which this video does not show. The driver is actually safer than the passengers are. Thousands of people still take public transportation in NYC everyday to get to their essential jobs. Since passengers can only enter and leave the bus through the back door they are pushed up against each other. Don't believe me? Get on or off the Q25 at the Main Street stop in Queens.
Work for Maryland Transit Administration I wear my mask at all times
These are the sort of stories that need to be included more in the pandemic narrative. Minorities are going to catch hell because of their infection rates due to exposure. Just like Haitians were denied entrance in the US during the early AIDS epidemic minorities will be increasingly stigmatized with the Covid 19 virus. Maybe I'm overly concerned because I live in a very red state. But some things historically never change.
Stop the "risking their life" idiocy.
She needs to work and make a living has no other choice.
Can i get a heart
Here you go 💙
♥️
@Ray El The least I could do Sir.
Stay safe 👍
Bus drivers look down on ppl cause they make big money they fat and walk and they will look u in the eye then pull off
Big money? I'm Irish and our drivers probably earn the average, industrial wage that's 500 euro par week, after tax. That's not big money.
