Which is funny, because he was ORIGINALLY meant to not actually be crazy, he just seems crazy while he’s flying as he’s found it to be a good tactic that he excels in. He was completely calm and rational otherwise
It may be a normal thing in Cyberverse, though. This Whirl has eyelids and eyebrows and he doesn’t seem like he’s a watch maker who lost his shit because they took his face and hands
It's explained in the comics that they were surgically given "generic heads and limbs" as a punishment for something it was either by the high council or the quintessance
It’s much more complex then that, but to sum it up, back when Cybertron was run by corrupt idiots, a common punishment was to have the hands and face of those who really opposed the Senate replaced with an expressionless head and claws or tools. It was IDW’s way of explaining why some Transformers didn’t fit the usual body shapes, so to speak. It looks like it’s different in Cyberverse, though. In the comics, Whirl was inflicted with this punishment, Empurta, and he FUCKING lost it, going from a watch maker to a war criminal.(He also beat the shit out of Megatron which caused Megs to go “Slag peaceful means, violence is the only answer”, which is a whole other story.) But Cyberverse Whirl seems like he was created with this from the start. He seems like a regular guy who joined up with the Autobots to do the right thing.
