Someone in the comments mentioned a Marvell Superhero named Namor the Sub-mariner. I just looked him up. It would indeed be awesome if he's indeed in this movie too. You know what connection spring up in my mind? Wiki says that Namor is the offspring of a "human sea captain and a princess of the mythical undersea kingdom." It also says that he is sometimes portrayed as "seeking vengeance for perceived wrongs that misguided surface-dwellers committed against his kingdom."
All this makes me think of the book "the Deep" by Rivers Solomon which imagines - according to Good Reads - "water-breathing descendants of African slave women tossed overboard have built their own underwater society."
With that baby being born underwater in the trailer; I wonder if we are venturing into some kind of pact with Mer-people...
And just as an aside, I see Michaela Coel at 1:39 in the Trailer. What awesomeness!
So is Namor gonna be a good guy or bad guy?

This trailer stands out from every other trailer we’ve gotten in a long time. It’s emotional, elegant, and it makes sure to not reveal too much while telling you what the movie is about. RIP Chadwick Boseman

Nah. It’s not even a “Black Panther” movie. It’s just a collection of characters. It will make much less money and be much less praised. I’m already not enthusiastic based on this trailer. They maybe shouldn’t have even don’t a Black Panther movie w/ no Black Panther. Or at least have a new actor in the role like Bond or Spider Man or Batman. Those franchises have lived on for multiple decades because they replaced the actor and the movies thrived. No Black Panther in the movie was an awful choice.

Yes, especially Letitia Wright (Shuri) got injured in one of her stunts she is actually doing herself, not with a stunt double, they have to pause production until she recovered, guessing we found the rightful successor to Chadwick

the transition in the music matched with the absolutely stunning visuals, literally beautiful. i think i speak for a lot of us when i say that this trailer made me tear up.
Okay now this was a good trailer. I haven’t been the biggest fan of phase 4 of the MCU, but this trailer showed a level of class different from the previous films that have come out recently. Will definitely watch this one, and I believe they will honour Chadwick very well in this movie.

My 5 year old watches the first one almost every day we never get tired of Black Panther in our house. Can't wait for the new release 😊 Chadwick may be gone but he is never to be forgotten. He played his part to the 'T' in the first one ❤️
I am in tears... I wondered how they would handle Chadwick Boseman's death for the MCU, and I applaud them for not recasting. Let his T'Challa stand high in our hearts, because the brilliance of his performance could never be matched.

Chadwick will always be "Black Panther," but there are legacies and mantels that we must all learn to pass on to the next generation when we are gone from this earth. This movie will accomplish that by allowing the story to continue to be told and for more kids and people of color to continue to see themselves in a positive light on the big screen.

@@ROVER25X for the first Black Panther movie, the guy that sat next to me was drunk off his @$$. After the opening credits, he decided he wanted popcorn or whatever. He started down the steps and passed out, falling over several kids. The movie had to be stopped for security to get the drunk guy out before some angry moms started to whuppin his drunk self

It is tough to know that Chadwick is gone and will not be in this film. Filming must have been really hard for the crew without him. He was an incredible actor and seemed like an incredibly caring and kindhearted individual. I am excited for this film, but it will be different without him. R.I.P Chadwick Boseman.

I’m so confused at some of this but that just adds to the excitement! Every time it starts & the music gets louder, the tears start flowing! The fact Chadwick isn’t in this makes me sad & then to add to it, it looks as though that agent brought the American government to wakanda or took from wakanda, something along those lines. That’s what I interpreted from the trailer. My son & I love black panther & when I showed him this & told him it doesn’t come out until November he’s like ahhhh I can’t wait that long & I agree!! Let’s skip to November!

I hope Winston Duke has an even bigger role in this film. Him as M'Baku has got be one of my favorite Marvel cinematic characters. It would be sick if they gave him the man-ape suit. Would be cool to get a real white wolf appearance in there too. Suit and all. Just really sucks that we lost Chadwick's charisma and screen presence. Everything that man did just jumps out the silver screen at you. Even if you didn't know much about the characters he's portrayed you'd always leave his films having gained a connection to those people, to those characters. I trust that all his cast members will make him proud and make yet another masterpiece. When people say "the culture" this is what they are really referring to. That connection every one of your people share from the true motherland. The love, the strength, the comradarie of friends and family. That connection to that place and its people is what makes you who you really are. Thats why black panter in my opinion is such a cultural icon. It's beautiful man.

Or do you think by the end of it, it would end up being someone different? Just curious on what you think. I miss Chadwick every day. The first movie was really life changing for me. To see us represented in such a powerful way brought me to tears. I wish they would have recast the role and Let Tchalla live on, I believe in my heart thats what Chadwick would have wanted. That character meant so much to black children around the world, black boys especially.
Well the good thing about Black Panther is it's a mantle that can be passed down so no need to recast as someone can just take on the mantle.

This, to me, is what happens when you have characters derived from a rich background and culture (Wakanda-obvious, but even the Aztec origins that they’re sprinkling into Namor) you get wonderful character design and colorful visuals that are unique to look at. Sometimes I hear people talk about the first Black Panther movie and say that it was average, but regardless of how you feel the movie as a whole was, out of many of the MCU movies, it felt like a complete story with themes and a villain that stood in direct conflict with the heroes beliefs. A lot of Phase 4 has been cookie cutter, “save-the-world against generic bad guy (especially in the shows)” but even if this has a save-the-world fight or something at the end, I’m positive the films focus will be more substantive than anything else. I’m looking forward to it.
Also, general plot theory:
My guess is that Namor, being the king of Atlantis as well as it’s main protector (very much like a black Panther to Wakanda), will act as a foil to the people of Wakanda who have just lost their king. I think the film will use Namor to show how putting that much weight on one person’s shoulders can effect a king and the film will end with the title of the Black Panther taking on a whole new meaning.
We gotta support this heavy. We need this to go over a billion, again! Show them OUR POWER!! $$$$

My wife made sure to pack extra tissue packs for me today... and it was the right thing to do. This movie stored so much emotion, empathy, and just heart breaking moments. Tears covered my face for half the movie. I'm glad that they respected Chadwick and did not create some horrible CGI face for the important scenes.
Just seeing the trailer gave me chills and has me in tears. I'm really excited for this movie! Like everyone is saying, it'll never be the same without Chadwick, but I know they will honor him through this film.
