- A 'Little Audrey' Cartoon from Famous Studios, directed by Tom Golden (!). If you're watching this you probably already knew that! The color and sound is really beautiful on these old Technicolor prints... sorry for the splices!
This cartoon entered the public domain in 1982, after Harvey Films failed to renew the copyright in time.
It was first shown on “Matty’s Funday Funnies” in black & white, and it was in regular rotation, and later in syndication as part of “Casper and Company”.
Never seen original Little Audrey Paramount titles in such high definition, Steve!

This used to air on our local independent TV station's cartoon programs when I was a kid. I love Jackson Beck as the judge.
Better than the Harvey prints that you see on mainly PD VHS tapes that has this cartoon with the Harvey titles.

Film scratches and audio skips feel nostalgic.
I remember a long time ago from this short from VHS. It ends with Andrey getting electrocuted and it cuts to the next short.
Despite the slim splices during the intro sequence and scratches, this looks crisp!

I’m sorry, but while this is certainly a magnificent rare find and restoration. The splicing and audio skipping REALLY hurts this one. Plus… it’s not really THE BEST Little Audrey short… (though what you consider the “best” of this series is up in the air). This is why these shorts needed other characters from the comics like Melvin, Lucretia, Dot or Lotta. Someone for Audrey to really bounce off of so we don’t almost always get these cheesy dream sequences.

Will the Talkartoons ever restore?

From what I heard, U.M.&M. actually altered the original camera negatives, and so unless theatrical duplicates exist from that era, those original title sequences are gone forever.
At least it's finally nice to see the original titles.
