Impressed by the Peugeot. It handeld the test better than many Audis, BMWs and Mercedes-Benzes. Heck, it even outperformed a Subaru. Respect! Still don't like the tiny indicators in the taillights, though.
You would be even more impressed by most of the 2wd offroaders, a light FWD SUV for example is almost as capable as most of the 4WD !

The 3008 Hybrid 4 is a beautiful car and it solved the biggest issue of the gas/diesel 3008 since it now has AWD. Wish Peugeot would consider moving to North America since now they are partners with FCA.

@@pete7433 I'll give you a good advice. Next time, before you write a comment about _stupid rolling test_ , do a research first. AWD system from Rav4 Hybrid *has nothing in common* with AWD system from the Rav4 2.5 that you linked. Furthermore, that Rav4 2.5 has different AWD system than Rav4 2.0 that was tested in my channel. Study that and then we can discuss.

I see Toyota still can't make an all wheel drive system. Its like Toyota's awd system is saying "I'm new! I don't know what to do!"
Toyota apparently doesn't need to. People will still buy the RAV4 based on branding alone, so they can get away with marketing "features" like "Trail mode" even though it does jack all.
But they make the best hybrid systems at the moment.
The all wheel drive on the hybrid Rav4 is quite shit. The regular gas-only model, especially the adventure model, has a significantly better all wheel drive system.
@@haroldbeauchamp3770 Completely agree, but then again.. cant really imagine people buying it for offroading. Maybe just few times in a year seeing some mild forest/mountain roads.
Yeshua Man The mechanical systems on the older generation RAV4s (permanent 4WD) were excellent, and highly capable off-road. I’m disappointed with how the new one performed there.

Despite the little experience in the field of 4wd (without central link) and hybrids, Peugeot is really good.

no you don't know what you are talking about. Toyota Awd system is crap and you are right BUT toyota offroad league is not the same. You have the Highlander,Sequoia, Tacoma and Tundra (maybe I forgot some models). These models are using a proper 4X4 system is of one the best in the market

I'm not quite sure reliability is as accurate anymore. Perhaps they were seen as reliable in the 1980's in comparison when the American vehicles were breaking down after driving them off of the lot.
@@haroldbeauchamp3770 i can fully agree on that! But they still offer better warranty conditions for their cars than the US and European Car Brands! Yet they get overtaken by the South Koreans (Hyundai, Kia) at the moment when it comes to Warranty and Reliability.

My 2018 Toyota Sequoia has the famous V8 lifter tick that Toyota says is “normal.” It’s embarrassingly loud and sounds like the engine is falling apart, yet Toyota refuses to fix it. The warranty is useless. Every time I call Toyota corporate I am told that there is nothing that can be done.

Toyota RAV4 awd system is in a same level like Toyota Tercel 4wd 1983 - 1987.
However, even the 1983-1987 Toyota Tercel 4wd was significantly better than this junk. I had a 1985 Tercel 4wd and it locked into 4wd with a lever. The Rav4 hybrid all wheel drive is nowhere near as competent as my 35 year old Tercel.
That Tercel I have seen climp on top of one of those huuuge show mountains the big shuffle machines make. Still impresses me to this day.
What model year Toyota is? Seems like they didn't improve anything as promised...

I've watched lately some other rav4 hybrid on rollers on YT, and it seems, that it got slightly better?
@@anonim1133 5th gen is much better than 4th, maybe even in 5th there are some software updates, I don't know that.

Its just no comparison you must compare the plug in hybrid toyota rav4 because the the peugeot is plug in hybrid much more heavier
If Peugeot is heavier than the test should be more difficult for its awd system...

No, this typical Toyota/Lexus traverse engine AWD systems. They are poor and shouldn't be advertised so such.
@@normt5463 This is hybrid Rav4, rear wheels powered by separate electric motor. Not a typical awd system.
I believe the hybrids are worse.

Peugeot must be using similar setup as Volvo. An electric motor powering rear wheels and that's why it can spin the rear wheels independently.
Toyota is using the same setup.
Peugeot is using this type of system well before Volvo did. The 1st generation HYbrid4 came in 2011.

They tried that too...The Rav4 exploded.
Subaru has a perfect AWD and belongs to the Toyota Company. I can‘t understand why Toyota is not able to build a good AWD system.
Hifi Lounge This is based on rear electric drive. Completely different than mechanical in Subaru.

This is Hybrid4, rear wheels are powered by separate electric motor.
Stupid Toyota engineers cannot add simple condition to their traction control like "if one wheel on same axle has 0 rpm and another has over 100 rpm for few seconds - apply brakes to the wheel that spins faster".

So you searched the worst roller test for tha rav4 and put it against the peugeot, never seen a rav4 perform so poor, do your research people! This test is not good, or the driver is very bad or the tires.

For better test results, both Cuvs should have been in the same level of surfaces, tire types and sizes. For me this is failure.
They can't have the same sizes of tires. They have original ones approved by manufacturers. Surfaces and types of tires do not influence the test (as long as there is traction).
Just buy a used g class
they should had tested the toyota hybrid, or the one with torque vectoring. it will be a different story.

The RAV4 is best with FWD. Better economy and it appears you don't lose much.
AWD system in petrol version is actually quite good.

@@ast5515 The CVT transmission in the CRV is shit...The traditional automatic is significantly more reliable. However, transmission aside, the CRV is a much more luxurious and comfortable car....no doubt.

Well Peugeot 3008 hybrid costs 45 000€. Thats insane. You can buy new VW Touareg with that money. 3.0 V6 diesel and proper 4 wheel drive.
Here the cheapest Touareg is about 54 000 €.
Still prefer toyota. Peugeot is uncomfortable, tight, small trunk. Shopping car for women. 4x4 does not matter. Nobody drives these cars in the terrain.
Peugeot 3008 uncomfortable? Ha ha! Try them both. You will not look back at RAV4. Guaranteed!
