Congrats on the purchase of a fine w140 S 600. I current owned a 97 s600 with about 147, 000 miles on it. I got it back in 2018 and I paid $2100.00. During that time the car has about 110,000. Set aside some money for it, you're gonna need to do some more maintenance. Here's what i have done over the course of my ownership. (Water pump, AC, Rear Hydraulic struts, thermostats, 02 sensors, MAF, Suspensions both front and back) just to name a few. I did most of the work myself by researching and watching other "how to" on you-tube videos. Aside from those, just go and enjoy the car. I daily drive my car everyday. I hardly see anyone else that drives a w140. If i do they usually its a S500 or a S420. Good luck.
This is probably one of the last iconic mercs that were pinnacle of engineering and quality. But, yeah, big, heavy and unfortunately not very practical by today's standards. That makes it more of a collector's item than a regular drive. Imo, just keep it stock, looks classy as it is, doesn't make sense a screamer exhaust on something like this.
W140 produced from 1991 to 1997 … absolutely fantastic cars … I was in Germany when they first came out , friend of mine who was a lead designer at Porsche back in a day, had a chance to test drive one of those w140 when they first came out , and he was very impressed by the car … I currently drive w222 S550 , and love it … awesome cars
This was the vehicle princess Di and Dodi al Fayed died in. Very special car, like you said, in the 90s you'd be doing very well to be driving one of these. Its a beautiful car
Please don’t make the mistake of thinking straight pipe = F1 noise, it doesn’t. The manifolds and collectors are where the magic is and that’s where the £15k goes on an exhaust. Simply straight piping isn’t how to do it. Take a look at one of those manifolds, they are art.
Had one for 3 years a long time ago. So what if it sometimes descended to 9mpg around town. An incredibly comfortable and fast tank, a beast. Truly fabulous.
"Greeted by a huge boot" , beautifully crafted video, dont think i will ever have anapetite to watch half hour video but i am sure i will help someone looking for specific models
Not a bad idea by any means. Not a daily for sure with that engine but my god its really a special feeling car. Mine is also 1997 S600 in dark purple/blue with full black int.
I have a CLK 200 W 208 192 hp mod 2000 but i keep her like she just came out from the factory and take her out maybe just once per mounth and only if is not raining for a coffee and back to the garage. These cars are not toyotas or hyundais are not every day s cars. You keep them because you love them.
I've owned 99 s420 for 8 years already, put over 80k miles...she never let me down. Only regular maintenance. They made to last for sure. Think I'm a keep it forever lol
It’s great that car with 160,000 miles on the clock still has so much to give. As it’s so great to drive it must be difficult keeping your mileage low. The Mercedes of that era were built to last, unlike the cars of today. You really mustn’t fit a racing exhaust, it would cheapen a great Classic car. The exhaust it has sounds just fine, and we could hear it on the video.
...ello there , yes they are 'hand frips but the corrrect term is 'assist grips' like when you get out of the car, and if the car is experiencing turbulence then you call them 'panic bar'. lol Nice video .
Definitely keep it original. This is probably the GOAT sedan car of all time. Sure Jaguar, Bentley and Rolls have amazing cars but this is kind of a highest point of German engineering (along with the last hand made air cooled Porsche 911's). They made as good car as possible and only then thought what it'd cost. After late 90's the accountants took over from the engineers. Both in Mercedes and Porsche. PS: Of course Pullman S600 is the GOAT but it's not mass produced car like this.
Straight pipe it for that Zonda soundtrack! Keep the original pipes obviously, but have some retro fun with it. Wish you nothing but happiness with it brother.

Yeah it’s the nature of the beast I suppose!
Enjoy in good health 👍

The best luxury car
Shame Mercedes didn't introduce galvanizing until 2003-4
I have owned my 98 S600L for 15 years now and I love it. These cars really are special.
An appreciating classic that will be worth more if kept stock....Pay homage to the previous owner by keeping it absolutely original!!! Well done!
Keep it original!! Collectors prefer it that way so would be easy to sell as well!
😂
Last true S class indeed, me keeping my 10800km C140 600SEC for ever!
Your way of filming and talking is better than 90% of car RUclipsrs. I see great things happening for your channel. Keep up the good work!

Thanks bro! Means a lot
The Mercedes of this era is stern and cool.
And the V12 engine, awesome!
Glad you liked it 🙏🏼
A Poor man’s Maybach😂 or a 4 door Pagani😂😂
Very fine car👍
I doubt any poor man was able to buy a car for around 110-120k in 97 😂
And there were no maybachs then..but yeah 4 door pagani has a nice ring to it
@@DMKDRIVES As we are in 2024 it’s a Poor Man’s Maybach because Maybach s are based on W140 and the first Pagani used this v12 with a manual box

Lol I guess the general consensus wins

Straight piped will sound like an F1 race car 🏎️ !!!!!!
She's beautiful keep on improving things
what a fantastic buy! congrats. The asbolute silence inside the passenger cabin is incredible
@DMK would you pass the annual inspection if you install some muffler exhaust valves so you can do the V12 tunnel run with open exhaust?
Thanks 🙏🏼 I’m sure I’d find a way 😂
Beautiful 90s barge you've got there brother, so jealous. I love the 90s Luxury elite cars, so tempted to go shopping for one.
Hit me up when you’re ready for this one! Lol
@@DMKDRIVES you selling bro?

Thats a really cool car. Big props to previous owner for taking care of it. What you paid for it if i may ask?

Can you review a w204 c350 facelift for your next video?
❤
buying a Mercedes is never a bad idea
I'm brazilian and i'm going to start following u. I love MCB. + one sub, hehe
Great vid!
They are called oh shit handles
That’s it! Totally slipped out of my mind 😂
This isn't a sports car. You'll ruin the car with a sports exhaust. Keep the car stock, back to showroom condition.
Great car to keep going 👏
This is the business 😊🎉
When it needs repairs, you'll know that it is a six figure car.
I would have gone W126 personally.
I wasn’t really out looking for a retro Merc to be fair and this just popped up..
Good vid man
Did those mono block wheels come with it
Yes indeed they did..everything on the car is completely stock
Allah pak bless you, son
Lovely car ❤
Brother I’m not sure about the gas milage
diamond cut the wheels
Its called a Jesus handle ..... What no fridge ?
whats the MPG?
As mentioned in the video, around town 5-10mpg 😂😂
Watch the ncap videos for these old heaps of junk.
This is a beautiful car. Don't do the exhaust.
Stock it stays!
Keep it original
Bro give you 5000€
Too sick 😅
How much was this car ?
Will be featured in the full review!
W140...
A tank...
The most overengineered MB product ever....
The billion dollar car 😎
100 Pounds and it's not even close to full. Holy hell if you drive this things a lot its gonna fucking chew your wallet like nothing
Went from just under a quarter to under three quarters 😂
However it’s a 100L tank so there’s that too
