If you haven't owned mules you cant understand how them learning bad behaviors can be down right dangerous. And then they get passed around and around until they end up in Mexico at a kill facility. So you need to fix it and make them solid so they have permanent loving homes. I have used all you have done here over the last 50 yrs on horses , mules and donkeys and I am in California. You need to be firm but fair and you only need to be as "harsh" or "creative" as you need to or as the bad behavior dictates. And never hold a grudge and use every interaction as a training possibility. Mules and donkeys learn better in short sessions not hour after hour like some horses need. Thank you for posting the truth! Trish from Tucalota Longears in Temecula CA :)

I think June knows how to " Whoa" when you ask her to back up. I had to smile because when she wants to go in the barn or walk to you, June's not sure what that word means. I know it's not funny to you, but, it's mule like. Love you're videos.
Haha, yes ma’am. She will learn in time. And she’ll learn whoa once we start harness training quick. So no biggie right now. I’m simply trying to get a handle on her to where she can be led without issue and handles in the barn without issue. So far so good. Anyway, thank you for the kind words and thank you for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please

Zach , when I had cattle I had 1 cow that was my lead cow. Calm I call her in. My next oldest cow picked it up. I was working with my lead cow's last heifer calf , she was a little harder to train. Sure makes it easy to move cattle. Bill
Yes, sir my friend I can definitely understand that. We have had some cows that were like that. If you could ever get that one cow to go, the rest would follow. Thank you for taking time to watch and comment. I appreciate it! Take care Bill and do come again, please.
Patience is a virtue. Know days people want everything now. If you take your time and do it right the first time, them you don't have to do it over and over. The way you train it's the mule that punishes themselves. That seems like for you and them that's working smarter not harder. God bless my friend

Good afternoon Zach, your so right there is so much rubbish on the Internet l cant watch it,lm very selective what l watch.June right at the end of this video was listening and watching every move you made she did so well.l see exactly what you mean with June give her an inch at this stage and she'll take a yard no dought in my mind. And your not mean in any shap or form with your beautiful Mules.Hope you get this comment this time if not ill email you with a comment.Thankyou for sharing Joyce.
Thank you Ms Joyce! That means an awful lot to me. I try and do the best by my animals. Because they do their best by me. Even June, even it’s to try and outsmart me lol. Thank you for the kind words and also taking time to watch and comment. I appreciate your dedication to my channel. Take care my friend and do come again, please
I use the turn quick and scare them technique, keeps them from walking on top of me. I learn from everyone. Either I learn what to do or I learn what not to do. Bought a horse for 50 dollars that was so rank he would try to cow kick whenever the owner got close enough. His wife got her arm broken. He told me he would pray every day for the Lord to calm the horse. I told him I believe the Lord helps them that helps their selves. He was my greatest challenge, but was in the end a wonderful horse. Keep doing what you're doing oh so well.
Yes, sir, I can definitely understand that. Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I’ve had a few just like what you were talking about. Also, thank you for always taking time to watch and comment! I truly appreciate it. Take care my friend and do come again please anytime

Haha, yes! They’re a lot of fun. I enjoy them so much. They’re my buddies. Thank you for the kind words and also taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
I have a horse like that who "creeps" towards me if given the proverbial "inch". I ended up using a dressage/buggy whip length stick against his chest to show him the distance to keep away from me. If he crept/stepped towards me, he poked himself in the chest. Then hand signals combined with that meant, in the end, I could wean him off the stick. I still have to be vigilant, though. I note that June is testing you constantly with moving one front leg and seeing if you react. I laughed earlier when you were talking about you being a team and talking to each other; just as she was telling you she had a horse fly biting her, but you were so busy with the camera, you did not "hear" (see) her!! Thanks for this. People I know call me by my initials, MR.
Cool 😎 sounds like a good idea ya have. June is the type that will test and re test to see just what she can get by with, but once she learns she can’t, she gives in fairly easily. Anyway, thank you for the kind words and sharing with me. And thanks for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again MR.

Alright you've been putting work in she's made a big improvement great training. And one thing to remember and that is no matter how well behaved an animal is. You never unestimate them and dealing with a big animal like mules it's a reason why they are called mules and jackasses.
@zachodom7486 I thank you a I'll most definitely will be tuning in she not flinching you'll getting her on the rite track hard and honest work always pays off
This is interesting, I will work with my horses on standing still on whoa. You can see she is trying to cheat one step at a time and you make her back up a step as each step counts That is a good training philosophy.
Yes, if you give them an inch, they will take them out. And you have to remember that as you are training a mule. And a horse really is no different… A mule just requires a little more attention to detail. In my humble opinion. I hope it works for you! Thank you for taking time to watch and comment and thank you for the kind words. Take care and do come again, please
Great job just keep on keeping on Have you tried turning her completely around when you're making her come to you that mite help her to ease out of of her staple
Hello Mr Thomas! I’ve been missing ya here lately. But glad to hear from you. No sir, have t done it that way, mainly because I want to focus on her coming out like everyone does. She’ll figure it all out in her own time I do believe. She’s come a long way in a short time. I think l we just need to stay the course. Anyway, thank you sir for taking time to watch and comment. And thanks for the kind words as always. Take care my friend and do come again, please
Yessir, time they get grown..they’re gonna be a little bigger than Kate and Alice for sure. And thank you for the kind words my friend. Take care and do come again, please
Thank you kindly! I’ve ridden both of my older mules a little, Kate and Alice. I haven’t started training my younger mules yet. But once they’re broke to harness, I’ll start riding them a little. I’ve found that once they’re well broke to work, riding isn’t a big deal. Hey, thank you for taking time to watch and also for the kind words. Take care and do come again, please
That is a good question! OK, so what I do… Is I apply steady pressure with the stud chain. And I keep that pressure until the very moment the mule attempts to move forward even the least little bit and then I release. Remember, they learn from the release of pressure and not pressure itself. They have to learn to give in to pressure. Such as leading. And they will learn that if you use pressure and release! Apply some pressure until the mule attempts to step forward and then be quick to release. Reward even the slightest bit of try. And build from there does that make sense? Thank you for the question, and thank you for taking time to comment. I appreciate it.
Is there any chance you can spray them before you work with them so they can give you 100%? Your mules are so beautiful and huge. Do you breed them? What do you breed w what? To get the amazing Jennys you have? I am impressed but do believe her figiting is fly driven. God bless all of you. I get your groundwork.
No absolutely not because of flies. She’s been this way ever since she was born. Nervy, explosive, disrespectful, and sometimes just mean. She got it from her momma. We just didn’t know she was like that until after we bred her. Her mother was a Belgian draft mare and her dad was an American mammoth donkey. She’s doing a whole lot better now, but still has her moments. The harness training will refocus her attention other places and a big change will take place I am sure of it. I’ve broke a bunch of em just like her. You just have to be smarter than they are if you’re gonna really break em and break em right. She’s coming around…anyway, thanks for the questions and I hope I answered them for you. Thanks for the kind words and also taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again!

Anyway, thanks for the kind words and taking time to watch and comment. I appreciate your dedication to my channel.
Yessir that’s the idea! They learn more from causing their own punishment vs mine. They learn quicker too. Thanks for the kind words and taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
When I was about 10 years old I racked hay with mules . I realy liked it.
Nice!! That’s one of my favorite things to do with a team. Making hay. Anyway, thank you for the kind words and also thanks for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
Amazing techniques Thanks Zach 💪👍
You’re most welcome!! I’m glad ya enjoyed it. And thanks for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
Let me say June is a beauty

Another good video Zack!!
Thank you Mr Bobby! And thanks as always for taking time to watch and comment. I appreciate your dedication to my channel. Take care and do come again, please
Proper steps in handling, love and patience, of which you have plenty, are doing the job. It's all time consuming , but worth the effort.
Yes, sir, I believe that too. And thank you so much for the kind words. Thank you also for taking time to watch and comment as always. I appreciate your dedication to my channel. Take care and do come again, please
Super Video. Grüße aus Österreich 👋
Hello! Greetings my friend and thank you. Thanks for taking time to watch and comment also. Take care, and do come again!
Excellent training.. This is Pastor Kat from Ky.
Thanks Pastor Kat! Good to have you here and thx for the kind words. Also, thanks for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please.
I like to see them all gather around you like what’s up boss
How old is June? Thanks for being vurnerable by opening your life to us.
She is 2 and will be 3 this next spring.

Rodney Jones hey bud I really enjoy your tape
Thanks Rodney! Appreciate it brother and thanks a whole bunch for taking time to watch and comment. I appreciate it. I’m glad ya enjoy it, that makes it worth doing. Take care and do come again, please.
Alright you've been putting work in she's made a big improvement great training. And one thing to remember and that is no matter how well behaved an animal is. You never unestimate them and dealing with a big animal like mules it's a reason why they are called mules and jackasses.
Thank you and yes, sir I do believe you are right. Thank you for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
@zachodom7486 I thank you a I'll most definitely will be tuning in she not flinching you'll getting her on the rite track hard and honest work always pays off
@@rayjohnson7886yessir I believe that! 😊
Great job just keep on keeping on
Have you tried turning her completely around when you're making her come to you that mite help her to ease out of of her staple
That is so cool
Thank you! And thank you for always taking time to watch and comment. I appreciate your dedication to my channel. Take care and come again, please

You have to protect yourself and your animals
Yes ma’am, for sure
It looks like May and June might be bigger than Kate and Alice. They're looking pretty good.
Yessir, time they get grown..they’re gonna be a little bigger than Kate and Alice for sure. And thank you for the kind words my friend. Take care and do come again, please
Would you ever consider letting someone come tag along for a day with you and you working ya mules
I’m always glad for anyone to come and hangout. Thanks for taking time to watch and comment also. Take care and do come again, please
@@zachodommulelogging I’d definitely be interested in doing so.
@@Brandoncaterpillarjust email when you’re ready and we will talk about it.
You sure a beautiful team of mules. Do you have one certain one that you can ride?
Thank you kindly! I’ve ridden both of my older mules a little, Kate and Alice. I haven’t started training my younger mules yet. But once they’re broke to harness, I’ll start riding them a little. I’ve found that once they’re well broke to work, riding isn’t a big deal. Hey, thank you for taking time to watch and also for the kind words. Take care and do come again, please
She’s synced right with you
Yes ma’am, and it did not take long either
When you're working on leading with the stud chain, how do you handle a mule that won't walk forward, it just plants it's feet?
You can see her stubborn streak coming out lol
Little by a little, I believe so
If your training continues will you be able to control them with just your voice?
Yes ma’am, in time for sure
HI BUDDY

Tuned in to watch you, the democrat national convention showed up!
Oh lord lol. Well, I hope next time it doesn’t have to get that bad for ya to tune in. Haha. Thanks for stopping by!
@zachodom7486 I was talking about all the mules. Maybe I was thinking about donkeys 🫏. It's Missouri that's known for it's mules. I really enjoy your channel.
@@jackgreen412 thank you sir
But I want to be with you dad
Ha ha yep that is true
Do it on the opposite side now. Too.much straight routine can get u kicked
Obviously you didn’t pay attention to the video. I do it on the opposite but not every day. There’s no need in it. They do the right side just like the left side. I mentioned this in the video, but I guess you must of missed that part.
