I don't think Goodyng was ever meant to be more than a side character who will appear in other Rippaverse books. I think Eric is struggling to decide just who is his central character. It should be ISOM, but Yaira has somehow ended up being promoted in that role (could be something to do with 2 women running the show!).
He should get back to making ISOM the focus of the Rippaverse. Call the book Isom Silman or something to get out of that copyright problem, write a decent story, and the numbers will go back up.
Just like with DC and Marvel, when main characters are replaced or changed, it’s always about the ownership rights and royalty fees. The Isom ministry has something to do with this. But Yaira being more of a Dianna and less of a Wonder Woman early on has more to do with Eric not thinking through her character, and then later someone else writing them. The inconsistency probably has more to do with this being amateur work.
If Eric was humble and had just changed the name to the "Indomitable Isom" or something like that, then there is a good chance none of this would have happened. But no, Eric just had to insist that those "fake Christians" were trying to "steal" his ancestors' name.
The breakthrough character will be Horseman.

It bothers me that all the art outside the actual books looks pretty good. But when you read the actual books it looks so bland. I think books, in which the artwork lacks at least at the start of the run. The story carries it through. I think the art wouldn't be such a huge deal if there was a solid character with a solid hook for the plot. Also a foundational premise for the world would help too. Some dynamic which drives the story. Either in the world or between the characters. I've recently been
enjoying invincible. And Eric's world feels like a bad knock off of invincible.
Invincible has a bunch of disprate elements to it. A world with aliens, giant monsters, even demons and supernatural elements. It takes all these fantastical super hero things and joins them in a world.
How does it work without feeling like a rip-off or a convaluted mess? Well, it grounds these things in the story of the main character and all the side characters too. The disprate and sometimes whacky elements are believe-able features of this superhero world, because we are made to understand this is the way it is. And we explore the different aspects of the world too and through characters like Cecil and even the Viltrumites. You see people reacting accordingly to just how tumultious the world is.
It's like one is a well-realized comic book story and the other(rippaverse) isn't. But it's weird how comparable the two are in this regard. I see them as weird mirror versions of eachother.
Do you think any of the RV(Rippaverse) characters have/had potential, based on what you have seen?
@@gringles I mean Isom has the most potential, but you'd need to tweak his character a bit. A caring, loving, x-hero who had to get out of the game due to PTSD. BUT is called back in by family to find another missing loved one. Presumably involved with big bad crime boss. And that drives the three books. His flaw can still be that he is a bit of a hot head, reckless and doesn't like being disrespected. Infact, you have the reason Chadran kills the girl in book 2, perhaps due to Isom's recklessness and this leads him to quit to do self reflection and introspection. This could be why he buys the farm. Also, as a way to help the community(ya know hero).
You would need to tie the Chadran flashback into a present timeline event. So in the search for Jasmine. Something triggers a memory of the time Chadran killed the comic-con girl. Isom overcomes it in book 3 as he gets back into heroing while looking for Jasmine. Perhaps after rescueing Jasmine this gives him the closure he needs.
You would also have the hell monkey and bloodruth stuff come in through the head gang boss. Perhaps he calls in the hell monkies to go against isom as retaliation. Then Isom would need to seek out Bloodruth to aid him. You can even still have Isom two largely play out as it did, but make it the actions of Darren(the gang boss) so it doesn't feel like a huge detour from that story.
There is potential present in the Isom story. You would need to show him being more of hero and caring. So, that people aren't hung up solely on his seemingly chief trait of not liking to be disrespected. You can have that, but that being his driving force, instead of helping his family. That was the screw up. There is a lack of development to ideas and characters throughout the stories too. It's not that there isn't potential in all of them. I think having potential is easy. It's full-filling it that's hard. I'm just not sure that Eric took the time to think these characters out in anyway. It's underdeveloped, which is why I think there is so much vagueness present. Even in the Dokuman cards, which all but confirmed that there isn't a broad amount of knowledge for the stories being told in the Universe. It's all just under cooked, it needed to be left in the oven brain a little longer. You don't expect a story teller to know everything, but typically they have a good idea of things. At least enough to get a story going. As for stuff they aren't sure of. They disguise well. The people working on the rippaverse do not disguise well that know one really knows what's going on with the story. Again, those Dokuman cards were telling.

I'm a fan of Joe Bennett's Spider-Man unlimited check out #16 and #17. His faces and expressions particularly the way he drew women was better. His figures where also more fluid. I think he drew for issues 13-20, but 16 and 17 were some of my favorite comics growing up.

IMPORTANT POINT : You're talking about the Reality of 'shipping with Rippasend' - how it will destroy any profit margins left remaining after production... Eric didn't consider that (from the person who would use it perspective, hence whether its viable). And that is why Yellow Flash didn't consider it either. Yellow Flash hasn't a clue on how to fulfill, whatsoever. It was supposed to be through Eric. And where Eric is saying 'No, Yellow Flash is not using Rippasend' - that's a statement of fact... They no doubt went through it together and couldn't find it viable to make a deal. Leaving Flash helpless... And that is why no money has been raised, much less Dillard paid, or a campaign started (much less a book coming out). Its really in the shaky situation of Yellow Flash's book possibly (probably?) never coming out. Yellow Flash is just ignoring and, frankly... Running away. Like it will have been forgotten eventually.

Ethan - he can't go public for all sorts of reasons. I don't even need to be from your country to cite what would no doubt be stringent rules. The Reality of the situation is this: His latest attempt at revenue is going to be 100-200K. Before any expenses. He has large numbers of employees, and production costs. All you'd be doing is buying into his debt (which would be entitlements to the employees, if you have that in some manner over there). All he can do is ask the private investors (shareholders) to throw in more cash. Its different to a business like IDW, that got onto the stock exchange BEFORE they started copping such losses.
