- In this video you join Pro Tools Expert Technical Editor, James Ivey for day 3 of his sessions on the Audient ASP8024 Heritage Edition console. In part 6 of this series James and Audient's Bryn Wildish look at mixing the track "Sticks & Stones" that they have recorded over the previous days. In particular concentrating on the patch bay section and routing of the console bringing in so last minute gear additions to aid mixing.
Mine arrives next Tuesday- I have to say this is an excellent 'how to' for the Audient ASP8024. Nice one!

Thank you so much for this wonderful in depth review of this console. This obviously has a lot more features than the SSL XL which you also reviewed. After watching both of your videos, this clearly is a full console with all the features that one would want. The XL desk is for someone who wants a more straight forward console with less bells however with having the SSL sound. In my opinion the XL desk is better for those high end home studios were you want a console more for mixing than tracking a full band. The 8024 is better suited for tracking a band, when you want to use lots of outboard gear, and have all the bells and whistles. The compressor on the Audient sounds great but if you want that SSL character, you can only get it with an SSL compressor. I am glad they have the Heritage Series which adds more character with the transformers button along with the other buttons on the bottom right of the console. With so many great sounding plug ins, and the ability to save settings, the hybrid approach with either console makes good sense.
Thanks for this series. Using an ASP 4816 at work and this has helped clarify a few things for me. I just reduce the number of channels you're discussing!
Was using a Tascam DM-4800 before that and the Audient is a completely different workflow - one I could definitely get used to. Really enjoying it so far and I'm going to be teaching students too, so I'm looking forward to using it more.
How do you like the EQ on the console? The layout is quite similar to the EQ on the Focusrite ISA console, but I suppose it sounds different, although based on the curve graphs the shelves have a similar small dip before the boost.
Great series.....now please tell us - did you buy one?
Great series dude! Are you planning on uploading the song somewhere?
What studio monitors are those? (Asked in another vid but no response :(
Hi there, No idea to be honest.... They sounded pretty good to me.
