Modded Honda Pitbike Bogs & Won't Idle - Can We FIX It??

- This is a 2003 Honda XR50 that had been sitting outside for an unknown length of time. It runs, but the engine dies when given throttle, and doesn't idle. In this video we hope to get it running right and take it for a ride! The XR50 is the successor of the original Z50 Monkey bike of the 1960's, and an almost identical bike to this XR50 is still being produced today as the CRF50.
Sometimes Johnny omits a few things to make a sale go more smooth!
What a guy.
No, not Johnny😂🤣
"It quit smoking?"
"That's tough to do, but that's the way it seems"
🤣It took a second or 2 for my brain to process that one but then I LOLed
Always solid content, l ran into these guys while visiting Anaheim, they were so nice and exactly how you would expect from their personalities that show through the videos. Just good people. Wishing Happy New Year and all the best for 2024!
It was great talking to you Tyler! Thanks for saying hello. Hope you had a nice vacation, and all the best for 2024!
You lucky bugger tyler, would be totally awesome to talk to these lovely people in person, I would literally talk about motorcycles and fixing machines all day with them,I would never get bored and would be smiling all day long 🙏👍😊
@@grahamcox8385 not sure Jen would want to chat motorcycles all day😂
My first bike was a z50 monkey bike. Imagine my thrill when i found out they released a monkey 125 and bought one. I love the thing
Those look like awesome bikes! The new Trail 125 too.
Definitely don't even care what the videos are about I just click watch immediately 😂
That drunk grip joke was top tier.
The "confidential" talk about the approachability of the motorcycle was very sweet. I thought it was very thoughtful how you recognize those things and see it's use rather than just an underpowered machine, and also the acknowledgement and thankfulness that you gave for your wife indulging in your hobbies and trying to make it easier and more fun for her too.
Check the valve clearance, install a new spark plug, shine it up and sell it. Oh yeah, try to straighten out the right side foot peg mount.
I watch a lot of mechanic type videos, I think Jennie’s garage is my favorite. You guys make good videos and make it fun at the same time!! 🎉
I love the days when you guys upload, been watching for years
I'd love to see the tiny bike get pretty. Maybe get a graphics kit for it as well
I wish y’all bought haggard bikes more often! Amazing entertainment!
Love your channel thank you for making videos
Glad you enjoy the channel!
You guys add some calmness to a very difficult time in my life
Not going to bore you with the details…thanks for what you do…and keep them coming……👍
Welcome back guys. I hope you holidays went well..
i would love to see full ''restoration'' of the bike, top end, paint or clean frame, try some tricks to cleanup the plastics etc. and some upgrades and parts to make it look nice
Hey guys, good to see you two again. A good tip with motorcycle grips is to use compressed air to remove or replace. Just stick the nozzle into the grip and then wind it back and forward until in position. Keep up the good work. 😊
Thst requires air
@@wobblysauce which he has, he used it cleaning the carb, remember?
@@wobblysauce If you watched the part he cleaned the Carbs you could tell that he indeed has a air compressor with a nozzle attached to it at 9:58
I will try that next time. Thanks!
@@jenniesgarage you're most welcome. 😊🖒
I have a full license and a big bike. The most fun I have is on my son's PW 80!
I wish I had neighbors like you guys
I think a top end inspection would be good thing to do and its simple process to share for this engine design. Its the right thing to do before it is sold
Oh my gawd!! A Jennies garage!! My new year can now begin. Also, thanks for 12 years of videos 😊
YEAH JENNIES UPLOADED
I like the extra effort made in this video to mix the audio
I had an old Goldwing and it puffed a little smoke every day on first start up. The goldwing guys said it was due to a little oil seeping by due to the horizontal cylinder. It was never enough to change the oil level between changes. Love your down to earth, real personalities. I pray God blesses you guys in Jesus name
Thanks for the comment. Maybe horizontal engines are more prone to a little oil burning.
A deep Harry Potter joke AND an excellent Princess Bride reference? Best XR50 video ever!
Top end doesn't seem that bad. Sticker it up and be done 😊
Just needs a valve adjustment. Don't even need shims on these ones which is a plus.
Nice video tutorial guys, nice puns thou. That reaction from camera girl whilst riding, is a satisfying successful project. Great job guys🎉..
I have the same Fastway foot pegs and I can assure you, they are quality. Mine have taken a beating on my WR250R and are still ticking strong after 5 years.
I was a bike mechanic for many years (in the Netherlands) and i've heard countless people complain about the left side tire wear, especially on bicycles and mopeds,
The reason for that is that bicycles and mopeds are supposed to ride on the right side of the road. And that part of the road is cambered for water drainage.
That could explain the left side tire wear on your bike, coupled with donuts
Great video as always and the best wishes for 2024!
I doubt this bike has done many miles on public roads...
Always good to see a Jennies Garage vid.
Holy shit. This is the first notification I've received from you guys in a year!
What a treat. One of my favorite RUclipsrs with one of my favorite bikes. Somebody put a lot of BBR money into it. KEEP IT!
Do a compression check. If it 'checks' out okay, just clean up the bike and enjoy it/ sell it. No need to spend time/ money on stuff it doesn't 'need'. Love your content!
Amazing video. Thank you! We want more!
How cool. Didn't even know they made these.
Happy New year!, been waiting for a new Video. Love you two goof balls.
Happy new year!
Man I missed you guys it’s been a while since you showed up on my fyp
Great video! I vote for a new top end, just because we all get to enjoy another video. Otherwise keep it stock and sell it. 🏍️🎊
I wanted to see you struggle changing the tire. Nice job.
Wishing you both a beautiful 2024 New Year! Peace and Love!
This guy always gets me wanting to work on my bikes
pilot jet, but we know that you already know that....love to see yall on the tube!
🎼it’s not a big motorcycle, just a groovy little motorbike🎶

thanks for reading our comments, J’sGarage…even/especially when subs comment after a 6-pack of IPAs & comment in paragraphs. I’m thrilled you two highlighted me helping to name it Bieber. though, it named/names itself.
you lovers have loving subscribers.
Love is easy to spot & impossible to fake. Thanks Again.
Man, you guys are good at this (bikes and videos). I love to watch. Please keep crankin' em out.
This is great. Since this is basically the same as a china-made Honda Trail 50 / Z50 / Monkey clone. (Skyteam, Skygo, Honlei, Jingcheng etc.) They are very popular amongst us finnish people, being the cheapest street-legal mopeds (around 1600€ and up NEW) and you can buy new fuel-injected mopeds still at dealerships. I own a 2009 Skyteam. Not to mention original Honda Z50 bikes had numerous "Finland-only" models when they were still imported in 70-90s. Get yourself a Z50 next if you can!
You guys are still alive !!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😆
I love y'all's videos. So glad to see you post again. Please keep them coming 🙏🏾
Love tou guys!... Happy you are back.
Your back!!!!!!!! Oh thank god! Ive been having crazy withdrawls! Cold sweats and agitated! Lemme kiss ya! Just once for ol time sake!
Love your mississ dude. Very clever cookie. ✌️👍🇬🇧
Yep, Miss Jennie is a doll. Jake’s got himself a rare gem right there.
Thank you guys for the great video . I think you should fix it up mechanically and visually and give it to your kid for a while then sell it . I hope y’all have a wonderful and prosperous 2024.
Thanks for the suggestions. And happy 2024 to you too!!
Clear coat spray paint inside the grip not only lubes it up make it slide on easy, it acts as a glue when it dries. Been doing it for years and never had a grip spin
Hairspray
Top geezer..you are correct.
Also if you run out of clear coat,,any spray paint will do. Its just a bugger to clean if you spray too much....haha..✌️👍🇬🇧
Interesting idea. Thanks.
Always love to watch your videos.
These Bikes Are Extremely Fun, My Friend had 1 And We Rode That Thing Hard Everyday. I Also Would Like to Say, I Was Watching Another RUclips Channel, There Is A Guy, His Name Is Tom And You Guys Look Like You Could be Brothers. Camera Girl Did A great Job Riding Bieber.
Thanks for the compliment on Camera Girl's riding. These little bikes are fun.
Thank you for another wholesome video!
LETS GOOOOOOOO, BACK TO BACK JENNIES GARAGE VIDEOSSSSS
Back in the day that bike was a good spec build, looks like a 88cc bbr kit.
Normally these kits run a biggger carb and a cam and larger front sprocket.
What you need is a new cam chain and adjust the valves,
Perhaps valve stem seals and a set of rings
hi from england. maybe do a full service an re build. upgrade and make it the best bike ever for which ever kid gets it. ps love the vids
Thank you for your thoughts. Glad you like the videos!
20:13 And you can tell immediately by putting enough air that is expands and sinking it under water. If you see bubbles, there is a leak. Quick way to test for holes and takes about 15 minutes to dry in the sun if you want to limit the amount of water that gets inside the tire.
I did save essentially very dead clone pitbike from scrapper couple years ago, rebuilt lots of it, fixed what could and modified parts from parts laying around like longer better seat and making it look unique with Kawasaki fearings, installing lights, little paint etc. Its cool little bike with enough torque for me to get around. Reliability of the 110cc china clone aint the best even as stock, but to drive around the yard and near forest its lots of fun and the size makes it really nice even shorter guy like my self, having ability to put feet down on the ground is god send.
For this one, go trough the engine, fix her up to reliable machine, maybe swap bigger rims, i have 14 inc on mine and thinking on getting even bigger ones for better ground clearance and to get over fallen trees etc easier with sturdier rear shock.. the current scooter shock is bit weak even for a child.
Fantastic, nice to see another video. ❤🎉
Happy new. The bike might have been smoking from being tilted. That might why it smoked when you first got it and when you took it for a test drive.
I was thinking something similar, like maybe oil got in the cylinder from transporting it. But then again I think if the rings are good they should be able to seal well enough to not let that happen. Possible though. I haven't decided if I want to take it apart and investigate. Happy 2024!
your wifes Vasque Sundowners boots are a great boot my fav hiking boot
Wow good eye on the boots! They are good quality, but she is thinking about dumping them because they are uncomfortable at the ankle.
o that's to bad ,I mostly use mine for backpacking,Hi -Tek makes a real comfy boot hardly any break in time @@jenniesgarage
I look forward to your uploads and enjoy your videos. Been watching for a while and you guys have inspired me to buy and fix 3 non-running motorcycles myself. I hate to admit it but it’s become somewhat of an addiction now. Haha
You described the small bikes perfectly!
Love y’all’s videos. Learned so much over the years.
Probably not worth putting more time or money into, you won't see a return on the investment! Maybe a new front tire if they're cheap. Always great to see another video from you guys
carburetor orrifiicicices xD didn't expect it, cracked me up thank you :)
A little bit of cold start smoke is quite normal if there is condensation in the exhaust. Especially if it goes away after warming up.
Happy New Year JG
Same to you!
I think you should refurbish it completely, would be interesting to watch!
dude those forks are worth some money that bike has some really good parts on it i would fix it and keep it bro
All the aftermarket parts look quality, people love pit bikes so good deal. Man, latley gas goes sour so fast. I am debating just draining regularly but i already have cans of bad gas i need to recycle. Tried recycling it in to the mower, now that needs a carb clean. Haha
Keep it ! Plastics and graphics are cheap. Simple cleanup is all that’s needed. Nice job with the carb clean and tune. The BBR pipe sounds good. Amazing Honda clutch that can pull 225 lb guys all day.
I’m not a Honda pit bike but I quit smoking recently too.
(16 weeks cold turkey)
Good job!!
After 30 years it wasn’t easy. Thanks for the encouragement
Save your money, sell it as is or keep it for your kid! I personally think you should keep it for your kid because all the wonderful memories it'll create. If you do sell it, sell it for $1500 or so! Those small bikes can be worth quite a bit!
love the princess bride quote
Jennie (the true boss🤣) really hope you and the family had a lovely Xmas and new years . Lovely to be getting a new video so soon into 2024 and hopefully we get to see lots more of your fun builds, repairs and adventures this year 👍
Happy New Year to everyone!! The Beebs looks and runs as good as any canuck. Id keep it as is. That original patenia sorta thing. The classic mods do all the rest. Fun bike. My first bike was a 1964 Honda 50. Half motorcycle half scooter. But it was a fast bike! My father was on the fence about me having it after it was running. At 6'4" 285 lbs it hauled him around with no problems. With my skrawny butt it flew. Guess thats what the wings on the gas tank represented. Thanks for the fun video guys!
Glad you liked the video! And happy new year!
Princess Bride reference nice.
This thing is cool!
XR50R's are awesome on it's own and pretty rare, at least in Europe.
But these special parts are high quality!
I'd clean it up really well, and maybe add some graphics. you can order universal graphic sheets to cut them out yourselves.
Certified little ripping bieber.
Awesome video as always! Also great to see the Trial 125 is still with you!
another great show..
Glad you liked it!
It's rough, but that's got some sweet part on it. Great pit bike!!
best fact ,those little bike bring smile nice video ty Both Peace
Nice job! Got er all fixed up and runnin like top. 👍👍
Awesome content, and tall bicycle handlebars lol
Jennie's just awesome.
Also, your hair grew like inches in the making of this video.
Yeah some shaggyness occurred during the making of this video.
I died when you used the wire cutters to hold the brass jet lol Atleast use pliers my guy
Always good when you release a video, thanks and happy new year.
Happy new year!
New engines always smoke a little till the rings seat into the cylinder wall. Check the compression and that will tell you how much blow by or if the valves are seating then go from there. Might adjust the valves and see if that helps with the tapping noises. No smoke tell me that the valve guides are ok too. Nice kids toy though.
Man those little bikes sell for a premium in my area, that ones value was defiantly ruined, would be nice to see turned back into a kids bike.
You should give it the works before selling it. This bike will make someone's kid very happy.
I loved the Ocean’s quote!! lol
In that last scene, you reminded me of Trapper John from MASH. during the very last scene of mash as he’s ridding away on the motorcycle
I never saw that scene, and couldn't find it on youtube. But I know what trapper john looks like, and I know what the end of my video looks like, so I'll imagine!
I learnt on a JR50, then PW80 when i was 5 years old to 12. Then only moved up from there.
Love watching you guys. Great vid!
Thanks!
love your channel. I want that bike !!
Always check the ohms resistance on the reticulated mass air resonator when you have these sorts of glitches.
The audio mixing on this was cool.
Thanks for noticing!
Happy new year 🎉 Good to see you guys again 👍
Happy new year!!!
love this channel
