Salvatore Aversa It's just a loaf of polenta flavored with spices and headcheese. That shouldn't cause any problems until they find a recipe for headcheese, but i'd guess you shouldn't tell those type of folks about mincemeat ingredients either.
ladygarnetrose Basic polenta is boiled cornmeal shaped into a loaf. Would you care to guess as to what headcheese is? Mind that pig intestines are used for chitlins, the stomach contains tripe, sweatmeats is another term for pancreas, and lard is rendered off the skin giving us some more good eatin', so really the other bodily parts are used for other purposes/recipes.
I want a re-do with .. Ham green beans and potatoes .. Kunzler sweet Bologna... Pork and sauerkraut and mashed potatoes.. Shoo-fly pie .. Chicken corn soup and ... apple butter and lastly chipped beef over homefries! I love these videos they crack me up. I have my two pairs I love seeing in the videos. Lancaster + pa towns would be hilarious.
Pennsylvania is the perfect state. Gets pretty damn cold in the winter, and hot in the summer. But beautiful scenery, nice people, great, homemade food, Pennsylvania Dutch birch beer, lol.
I'm not scientist, but my hypothesis as to why there were so many positive reactions to our food is because we have the best god damn taste in the entire country. The rest of America needs to get on our level. I say this as someone who now lives on the West Coast.
love all that food, when I was in Korea in '85 my mom would send whoopie pies and when I said what they were I would get funny looks but when I broke them out they vanished pretty quick
So I live on the West Coast now after growing up in PA, and every time I ask for Pierogies, they look at me like I've got a dick growing out of my forehead. These people have no taste at all.
Michael Diehl I grew up around it, know what's in it and how it's cooked, but i HATE it. I do agree you have to tell them what's IN the scrapple after they eat it.
Lol It seems like people who don't live here think PA is a state filled with Amish people. Only Lancaster PA has a large Amish population I believe. Actually, southern PA is mostly largely populated suburban towns around Philly and not farmland 😂 we are not all Amish lol
Needs some halupki, haluski and some bleenies... halupki definitely.. Magical orange grease of Schuylkill county.. Coney Island "chili" hot dogs/hamburgers, Roma pizza and Halupkis... (Halupki, Haluski and Schuykill.. oh my... yes... it IS as scary as it all sounds..)
Birchbeer > Rootbeer Scrapple is 6/5 Yuengling is 5/5 Pot Pie (any kind) is 5/5 I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but Whoopie Pies are still amazing. But where's the fasnacht donuts? We have an entire freakin' holiday dedicated to them!
I am from PA... never heard of ham pot pie, as it is usually made with chicken, and it looked too solid, it should have been more runny... and these people comparing Yuengling and PBR... SMH.. Some stuff that I would of added is Venison, chicken corn soup, and apple dumplings
The guy jokes about squirrel in pot pie... that's actually a thing here, I grew up eating it. It's probably the best way to eat squirrel. As for Middleswarth potato chips, they are unique (I hear they put powdered milk on the potatoes for the taste), but I prefer Hartley's as I grew up on them, they're crisp and salty. There's so many great chips here, though... Good's, Martin's, Gibble's and of course Utz which is one of the few regularly available outside PA. Last I heard Utz was up and down most of the East Coast and got fairly popular in NYC.
Some other Penn food I would have liked them to try is Chicken corn soup, chicken gravy and waffles (my fav), ham loaf, tastykakes, shoofly pie, rivel soup
I work at a butcher shop and scrapple is made with salt, pepper, buckwheat flour, pork livers, pork skins, pork kidneys and all the left over meat ands fat that had cooked off of unused pork ands beef bones. So have fun with that knowledge lol xD
The two guys at 2:54 know what's up. Yuengling Lager used to be so good, I don't know what happened. All it does is give me a migraine now. I kind of take comfort knowing that most of the commenters for the video are from PA.
Alas, we can't seem to get decent scrapple out here in Johnstown (PA). What I have found is too much cornmeal and not enough pig bits. (I am a Delaware native, though, so I am partial to RAPA scrapple anyway.) If it were going to be a little more western PA inclusive, they might have tried haluski on them.
Check the Walmart's. They are starting to carry Habberset Scrapple (out of Philly) at a lot of them now. A friend of mine found it at two in Florida near Palm Beach.
Gernald You're just giving more reasons not to include it. They're looking for foods the area is UNIQUELY well-known for, not just stuff that people there eat. There's Dutch and Poles all over, and people eat sauerkraut all over. It's not a Pennsylvania "thing".
Trashboat Where are you, Hanover? That's kind of surprising that they're not available. They usually don't take up a lot of room on the shelves, so it's possible you've just overlooked them. Next time you're shopping for groceries, look for them, they're really good.
I didn't know they didn't have Yuengling in all the states. Someone remind me to pack a few coolers full if I ever take a trip across the country lol AYOOOOOOOOO
Been in Pennsylvania for about 12 years. My initial reaction to Ham pot pie was nowhere near as bad as of this guys. They only reacted positively to sugar and fermented samples. I was surprised at how well they reacted to scrapple, whoever pick and prepared the sample must have known what they were doing, lucky them.
I am Pennsylvanian born and currently live here too. Honestly I thought they picked out great items for the tasters like Birch beer, whoopie pies, scrapple, and the lager. The lager is from the oldest american brewery, personally I would have chosen the black and tan they make. but the ham pot pie seems like a bad choice to me. I would have went with Chicken and dumplings/pot pie.
sadly i never had any of that and i live in pa, from ny but still :P Moon Pie/Whoopie Pie/kinda like a Devil Dog. WHERES MALLOW CUPS? lol i dont like them but thats iconic. & Nibbles Gibbles, sounds like dog food but its good potato chips
Kingcraft_AdamJ Actually, Hanover is specifically considered the snack capital of the world... and they gave themselves that title, so nobody else cares.
Really... Ham Pot Pie? Come on, you have to go for the Chicken Pot Pie (or as my kids call it... Slippery Soup) As for the Birch Beer... Frozen Run is good, but A-Treat and Penn Dutch are way better.
2:47 hahaha! Does she know that she sounds like a leprechaun? That's so not a German accent. Do not compare Yuengling to PBR! There is no one in this world who would not enjoy Birch Beer. It is what is meant by 'nectar of the gods'. ;P
I love your videos!! It took me a long time to realize that Maggie wasn't Merritt Wever from Nurse Jackie though. They have to be related or something. Also, Allison looks a little like Olivia Munn.
What?!?! No Steak Salads? I live in Florida and they look at me like I have 3 heads when I tell them about it, but they change their tunes when I make them one and they eat it!!!!
I agree with Pennstat that Middleswarth and Tastykake has to be included and turrent29 that shoefly pie but Philly Cheesesteak and Primanti Bros sandwich have to be included.
27 and Pennsylvanian all my life and the only thing on that list I have had is a Yuengling. You could not pay me to try scrapple or what that ham shit was, ha.
No fair, you gave them the stuff we'd actually export outside of the state! Well except for the beer, our beer is piss. And I don't know what the hell that last thing was supposed to be? Where's the pierogies and gumpies though?
You don't eat Whoopie Pies with a fork, silly West Coasters. XD
They forgot alot of other foods, too. Disappointment is storming over here.
I wish we could have got their reactions to finding out what, exactly, scrapple is.
Lmao right!?! Should we tell them?
Salvatore Aversa grind up a pig, put it in a can.... it's scrapple!! (TBH this stuff is really good, though)
Salvatore Aversa It's just a loaf of polenta flavored with spices and headcheese. That shouldn't cause any problems until they find a recipe for headcheese, but i'd guess you shouldn't tell those type of folks about mincemeat ingredients either.
grant kohler scrapple is everything left from the pig, but the oink mixed with corn meal.
ladygarnetrose Basic polenta is boiled cornmeal shaped into a loaf.
This is brilliant! You need the Middleswarth BBQ chips and Tastykake butterscotch Krimpets tests next.
Oooh! And Old Forge pizza as well!
Live in San Francisco and the best cheese steak places will ship in Amoroso Rolls and Butterscotch Krimpets.
Don't even get me started on State College's ice cream...
Brandon Smith The creamery or what ever its called, place is great so it the Franklin Fountain in Philly
Brandon Smith
Let me guess the number 1 selling flavor is kiddie diddle
PA born and raised and I have never heard of Ham Pot Pie.. Must be a western PA thing. Its like a completely different state, western PA.
Yeah they forgot creamed chipped beef. Here in philly we call it "Shit-On-A-Shingle"
peirogies and Islay's chipped ham bbq! (Pittsburgh delicacies)
AJ Barnett Thanks for making me hungry.
AJ Barnett Yes, because clearly Pennsylvania is the only place that's well known for eating ham, green beans, and potatoes. lol
Wait..so they've never had a Whoopie Pie before?
The poor souls..
Harleigh Cutting I know! they are my favorite :)
Ohh. Good to know!
Whoopsie pie is life #yorkpa
I live in PA and I agree with all of this. Glad to be apart of the best state. (In my opinion. ;p)
It's not opinion if it's fact.
Pennsylvania is the perfect state. Gets pretty damn cold in the winter, and hot in the summer. But beautiful scenery, nice people, great, homemade food, Pennsylvania Dutch birch beer, lol.
MrSir2552 Ahh the Birch Beer, I get excited everytime I see those yellow cans.
Agreed, fellow Pennsylvanian. (I mean, come on. Birch Beer is heaven in a can.)
Birch beer by Pennsylvania Dutch is the drink of my people.
I'm not scientist, but my hypothesis as to why there were so many positive reactions to our food is because we have the best god damn taste in the entire country. The rest of America needs to get on our level.
I say this as someone who now lives on the West Coast.
Funnel cake gave me diabetes.
bassax13 Delicious diabetes.
I am in Louisiana, but where can I get some scrapple? Lol. It all looks delish.
RENEE WHITE It is, and they've left out the best foods.
Brandon Smith Down South= overall best food in the country, no contest.
*From Pennsylvania with Love...*
The Birthplace of Liberty
love all that food, when I was in Korea in '85 my mom would send whoopie pies and when I said what they were I would get funny looks but when I broke them out they vanished pretty quick
tim taylor gobs you mean?
they dont have birch beer everywhere? guess i cant move away from PA...Weis brand white birch beer is the best!
Ooh, forgot about pigeons and pierogies. Only a couple of the most amazing things from living in a predominately Polish part of PA.
So I live on the West Coast now after growing up in PA, and every time I ask for Pierogies, they look at me like I've got a dick growing out of my forehead. These people have no taste at all.
you gotta tell them whats IN the scrapple after they eat it
Mostly face meat, thickened with a grain.
i know whats in it and how its cooked and i love it.
but scrapple is so good. I grew up with it.
Michael Diehl I grew up around it, know what's in it and how it's cooked, but i HATE it. I do agree you have to tell them what's IN the scrapple after they eat it.
Benanov dont forget tongue heart eyes basically every thing not used in sausage or porkchops lol atleast thats how my family does it lol
Lol It seems like people who don't live here think PA is a state filled with Amish people. Only Lancaster PA has a large Amish population I believe. Actually, southern PA is mostly largely populated suburban towns around Philly and not farmland 😂 we are not all Amish lol
Its weird because im from Pennsylvania and I never viewed this stuff as strictly Pennsylvanian. But wheres the shoefly pie???
I've lived in PA my entire life....I have never heard of ham pot pie. Anything tastykake is a great taste test.
They should have added in a philly cheese steak or shoo fly pie.
Oh man, next time, water ice, funnel cake, cheese steak!
Dragandazi how could they not include waterice???
Needs some halupki, haluski and some bleenies...
halupki definitely..
Magical orange grease of Schuylkill county.. Coney Island "chili" hot dogs/hamburgers, Roma pizza and Halupkis...
(Halupki, Haluski and Schuykill.. oh my... yes... it IS as scary as it all sounds..)
Wow you managed to avoid the most famous foods in the eastern part of PA. Like a real Philly cheese steak, the Pizza, and Pork Roll
Jim Feig Pork Roll is from New Jersey not PA.
dave travis Facts, the Pork roll was invented right in my hometown Trenton,Nj
Yea I know Jim,most people don't realize that Trenton is apart of The Delaware Valley
Jim Feig It's kinda hard to ship in a cheese steak
Birchbeer > Rootbeer
Scrapple is 6/5
Yuengling is 5/5
Pot Pie (any kind) is 5/5
I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but Whoopie Pies are still amazing.

Lebanon balogna
I live in Armstrong county but my aunts are from around Lebanon and Hershey
Whats your badge? articwolf
The guy jokes about squirrel in pot pie... that's actually a thing here, I grew up eating it. It's probably the best way to eat squirrel.

Dude squirrel pot pit is the best
They should have told them what scrapple was actually made out of, THAT would have given a good reaction haha.
What about shoo fly pie, pierogies, and cheesesteaks?
seriously starting to get Jim & Pam vibes from Jari & Erin in these videos. they're great!
So many others they could have added! Hog maw, red beet eggs, apple dumplings, shoofly pie ...
Man so many PA classics still missing shoefly pie, Lebanon Bologna, TastyCakes, fastnachts and many more. #PApride
Aw Adam!! Best person ever!! These are that much more fun to watch and I'm watching them all! 😊😁
Some other Penn food I would have liked them to try is Chicken corn soup, chicken gravy and waffles (my fav), ham loaf, tastykakes, shoofly pie, rivel soup
My life just became a little more sad when Yuengling was likened to PBR...
Adam and Manny were so funny! It was worth watching again, just for them! Ha!
Yeah, sounds about right. I love how with half of them they say "why isn't this EVERYWHERE?!" - which is also about right.
All that food that they tried is absolutely amazing! #PennsylvaniaLiving If you don't enjoy that food you are not from Pennsylvania!
I work at a butcher shop and scrapple is made with salt, pepper, buckwheat flour, pork livers, pork skins, pork kidneys and all the left over meat ands fat that had cooked off of unused pork ands beef bones. So have fun with that knowledge lol xD

Should have put apple butter on the scrapple.
And also let them try Hog Maw
You forgot Sauerkraut - the traditional New Year delicacy of PA.
That probably would have made them cringe!
I know, but with the number of PA Dutch and Poles, we have an excess of it!
Gernald You're just giving more reasons not to include it. They're looking for foods the area is UNIQUELY well-known for, not just stuff that people there eat. There's Dutch and Poles all over, and people eat sauerkraut all over. It's not a Pennsylvania "thing".
You want to send your tastebuds on a trip? Go to downtown philly
yes Philly 🙌🙌🙌
You forgot Middleswarth potato chips! And shoefly pie!
Trashboat Where are you, Hanover? That's kind of surprising that they're not available. They usually don't take up a lot of room on the shelves, so it's possible you've just overlooked them. Next time you're shopping for groceries, look for them, they're really good.
System of a Clown I will look for them
ANGRY ABOUT POTATO CHIPS
Omg yes
Trashboat Middlesworth isn't anything to bat an eyelash at.
I didn't know they didn't have Yuengling in all the states. Someone remind me to pack a few coolers full if I ever take a trip across the country lol AYOOOOOOOOO
WHAT? No perogies or no-bakes?! By the way that is not a whoopie-pie that is a GOB! lol Or maybe that's just the name for it in Johnstown.

I'm from PA. I didn't know we had specific foods lol this is fun
As a Pennsylvanian, that was entertaining to watch. However, that whoopie pie is known as a "gob" around here.
They really needed to try pepperoni rolls. I didn't know that other states didn't know what a roniroll was...
From Pennsylvania. Never had Frozen Run or ham pot pie, although I HAVE had some great chicken pot pie in the past.
sadly i never had any of that and i live in pa, from ny but still :P
Moon Pie/Whoopie Pie/kinda like a Devil Dog.
WHERES MALLOW CUPS? lol i dont like them but thats iconic.
& Nibbles Gibbles, sounds like dog food but its good potato chips
haha scrapple deserves a better name lol! it is literally what the name tells:scraps!
Chipped beef is a must!
Pennsylvania is considered the snack capital of the world
Kingcraft_AdamJ Actually, Hanover is specifically considered the snack capital of the world... and they gave themselves that title, so nobody else cares.
im 16 and ive lived in pennsylvania all my life and ive never had ham pot pie or scrapple
How bout a Pittsburgh taste test
Def. Need to add middleswarth BBQ chips and tastykate krimpets and Tandy kakes. I agree on that. The two ladies though dang are they snobby haha
Really... Ham Pot Pie? Come on, you have to go for the Chicken Pot Pie (or as my kids call it... Slippery Soup)
As for the Birch Beer... Frozen Run is good, but A-Treat and Penn Dutch are way better.

Do not compare Yuengling to PBR! There is no one in this world who would not enjoy Birch Beer. It is what is meant by 'nectar of the gods'. ;P
I love those 2 big guys!! Lol so funny
Boyer Mallo cups!
I'm from PA lol and I've never heard of "ham pot pie"
I guess I'll swing by PA and try it out for myself. Looking forward to the beer.
I grew up in PA and I don't think I've ever had ham pot pie. Also, I was waiting for shoo fly pie.
We call them "gobs" not "whoopie pies" :)
I always thought that Whoopie Pies were everywhere!
I'm from Pennsylvania
NO ONE can talk shit on Yuengling. Proud to be Pennsylvanian.
They missed shoo fly pie, an flavored snyder chip, any primanti brothers, a hoagie, a real philly cheese steak and a hunky hand grenade
I'm from Pa, and I've never had any of that stuff, except yuenling.
What about Ox roast, or Smiths hit dogs?
I love if you had people from the midwest try food from the west coast.
Granted it was warm and not cold. But how dare they disrespect Yuengling?!
I love your videos!! It took me a long time to realize that Maggie wasn't Merritt Wever from Nurse Jackie though. They have to be related or something. Also, Allison looks a little like Olivia Munn.
I have lived in Western PA all of my life. I've only ever heard/ eaten 2 of these things. From different regions maybe?
Scrapple is popular overhere in philly
What?!?! No Steak Salads? I live in Florida and they look at me like I have 3 heads when I tell them about it, but they change their tunes when I make them one and they eat it!!!!
Do you have plans for one of each state? I'm curious to see what Florida entails. :)
I lived in pa and I tried everything there well almost everything no drink did I try
As a Pennsylvanian I approve of this video
You should also have hog Maw, they'll love it until they know what's in it...
No hog maw? Pffft lol
And chicken and waffles!
I agree with Pennstat that Middleswarth and Tastykake has to be included and turrent29 that shoefly pie but Philly Cheesesteak and Primanti Bros sandwich have to be included.
I was born in PA and have lived here for 23 years and yet I've never eaten nor heard of scrapple
WHOOPIE PIES ARE CALLED GOBS
- A PENNSYLVANIAN
WTF are you talking about?
Idk. It is widely known as a gob
In what universe?
***** Agreed.
Ernie Sauers I am in Snyder County and have always called them Whoopie pies, A local market makes them and sells them as Whoopie pies
I've never heard anyone from PA call a Gob a Whoopie Pie. Somewhere an old Amish woman is very very angry...
No Halushki, no Pierogies. This video is incomplete. What about IRC?
27 and Pennsylvanian all my life and the only thing on that list I have had is a Yuengling. You could not pay me to try scrapple or what that ham shit was, ha.
I was really waiting to see cheesesteaks..and then they never show up...
What was the salad type item after the scrapple?
You forgot the PA dutch style chicken and waffles!! Mmmmm.
sad i'm from Pa and I only knew a few things they had in front of them
Team heffer is the funniest. Seriously, where do these other states come up with this weird ass shit!? LOL. thank god I'm from California.
Whaaat? I had no idea that ham pot pie was a Pennsylvanian thing. The rest of the world is really missing out.
Shoefly Pies!
I take it shoefly pie isn't quite as regional as I had thought.
The "u" in rumschpringa rhymes with the"oo" in "boom", not the "u" in "tummy".
No fair, you gave them the stuff we'd actually export outside of the state! Well except for the beer, our beer is piss. And I don't know what the hell that last thing was supposed to be? Where's the pierogies and gumpies though?
you dont know what a whoopie pie is?? Really?
If only they knew what was in scrapple their opinions would change lol
Maggie is the best!!
Oh! And Lebanon bologna.
