I can! I was never a fan of The Dark Crystal but I happened to catch it in a waiting room and the puppetry was amazing, I watched a good 3 episodes of it that day, haha. Dixon's got some mad talent for lifelike movements!
Yes, the part where the good skeksis and mystic are doing a puppet show together (puppets doing puppets ha), just before the fireworks set fire to the mystics back, when I saw that bit a bell rang in my mind and then when the making of docu confirmed it, I jumped up going ‘Aha I knew it!’, fantastic, so happy for him. :)
When I saw the scene, I really hoped it wpuld be Barnaby, the style was so distinct! Then I was watching the making of, and I just had a little fan moment when I saw him working on the scene!

I think that this colour shifting could work great on a chameleon puppet. Also the fact that you got to help out in Netflix's Dark Crystal is amazing. Next thing we know we are going to be watching a movie and we see a puppet and we go"Is that Barnaby?"
I was watching the new Dark Crystal Netflix show, and when I saw the little Gelfling puppet both grab a sword, and do the little leg hop thing, I knew it had to be your work.

Holy sh*t, for a moment I forgot that was a puppet and confused it with a robot. Honestly, the movements are so fluid it's amazing. You have skills man.

I haven't even watched the show but I saw a video about it and the instant I saw the puppet part I instantly thought "Barnaby?"
I have described your talents as the Jim Henson protégé that never was. I’m always amazed by your videos. They are cute and funny and a reminder that physical mediums still have a place in the world. (As opposed to CGI work which is supposedly “better”). There’s a different quality to puppetry that I think has gone overlooked in the first two decades of the 21st century. Take it easy and remember to smile!

Actually, I was watching the making of the dark crystal series the other day and was at times kinda not playing too much attention as I was multitasking but suddenly I heard Barnaby Dixon... dropped everything, rewound a bit to make sure I didn’t miss anything. 💖

I’m so impressed with your puppeteering!
As an animator, I’m really amazed by your lifelike movements.
I wanted to suggest using a material known as Black 2.0 in your puppets.
It’s a paint that makes surfaces it’s coated seem more like a silhouette than a 3D surface, and I think it could make, say, a painted glove really disappear into the background.

Barnaby, I noticed while watching the dark crystal Netflix show(can’t be bothered to right the full name), one of the character used a similar puppeting technique. Were you involved at all or was it just similar?

I love the clean bold look of the panels with the original green lining. I'm still a bit confused on how you get the panels to change color so quickly.
He said the panel's are reflective, the colour depends on the lights in front of it combined with the glow in the dark plastic

Yeah, it's actually a pretty simple setup. The higher and louder his voice gets, the decibel level increases. This corresponds with the lights and makes them flash. I'm pretty sure that he changes the colour manually
He actually said post, meaning after he does the music and video he can change the colors manually and if course there are programs I have seen him use on his patron (how the heck it is spelled) that changes based on pitch, loudness and other things like that. Really is amazing to watch his behind the scenes stuff. Not tons of them but when he does... MIND BLOWN. He showed us EXACTLY how he made his glow bug few months ago and have been counting down the days till we got to see buggers 2.0.
I really like this version. The bug puppet has long been my favourite and I really like this new version.
HOLY HECK! It’s imaging how you never stop striving to make your puppets more stunning! It makes it really hard to pick a favorite And stick with it! Have you ever considered teaching a partner your style of puppetry? I really would like to see all these amazing little characters on screen at once interacting with each other.

Barnaby, I love the performance art, but your characters are destined to be part of a story, an entire mythology even. If you can't do it yourself, collaborate with someone who can populate a fantasy world with your characters. There is some high art and storytelling to be had here. I've been rooting for you to transend youtube from the beginning!
If you didn't know, Barnaby actually did some work for the new Dark Crystal show that's popped up on Netflix, so he's definitely starting to go places.
