Yiiis got cozy on my day off to watch an hour long video by Maria 🥰Something that astonishes and delights me about scent is just how variable the sensory experience is. I could pick up the same bottle on another day and get different aspects that I hadn't picked up before (either because of the weather that day or internal physical/hormonal changes that impact senses or just your nose adapting and developing to this scent). I've had this happen with perfumes I've had for years too - really makes you appreciate the sensory stimulation a scent provides. I love being surprised by scents that I thought I knew when they reveal a different layer 😉

Nothing worse than the tip of olfactory tongue phenomenon when you know that you know a scent, but can't identify it. Or perhaps worse still, when you ask someone about the wonderful perfume they're wearing and it turns out that you already own it. 😩😂 Or perhaps something you've always hated? From my experience, smelling on paper is different from smelling on skin, is different from smelling it in the air, is different from smelling the sillage of a full wearing on yourself, is different from smelling the sillage off of someone else. Phew! And many fragrances evolve during the wearing too! But really, when it comes to knowing thyself, I've found that casual and peripheral exposure can sometimes be more illuminating than arduous focus. It's the seldom explored and often ignored peripheral wonderland of panpsychism and our tantalizing tapestry of unused abilities. 😉♾ The question that remains is...shall we dance? 🪐

@@MariaMeliora Ps, don't be shy about using smunnels to evaluate fragrances! Despite creating the fold in 2017, I only posted it on instagram a year ago. Not sure why it still hasn't caught on, but smunnels are far superior to test strips (and cheaper) in nearly every way.☺ Of course, strips are great for perfume making and dipping into tiny bottles; but for everything else, just use a smunnel. I won't lie that watching the industry and content creators continue to struggle with test strips all these years has been torturously bewildering when there's clearly a better way. Fascinating how even minor changes are resisted vociferously when they require negligible effort. 🤨
