  • In response to some of the users on Reddit, here's a version of my previous video that showcases only the in-studio playing samples. Not talking, no cymbal cleaning, no discussion about what cymbal cleaner I'm using, etc.
(And it's only 5 minutes long)
If you'd like to see that original video with all of the back story of this cymbal, the cleaning process, and my own thoughts about the Before and After results, you'll need to watch this video instead: • Do Dirty Cymbals Sound...
Down below, in the comments section, I'd love to hear your answers to these two questions:
    1) Can You Hear A Difference?
    2) Which Sounds Better To You?

Definitely a matter of taste and style. I can see totally valid applications for either.

Sure. There’s really no “right” answer. But if you check out the full video, where I actually talk about this whole process, you can get my own thoughts on each sound and which worked better for me on most tunes: ruclips.net/video/-UAPfwxeOFU/видео.html

Clean is… well… cleaner! Lol.. Brighter for sure.. more of a wash in the dirties.. of which I like more.. brighter does have a slightly more pro feel.. which I’m definitely not so I’m ok without it.. 😜
    Great video.. enjoyed!

Well, pro or not, thanks for watching and thanks for weighing in!! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
And check out the full version of this video where I go into great detail about the experience of playing and hearing it from both sides:

tbh it can depend on tha cymbal imo

Possibly. But at least in my experience, having cleaned over 200 cymbals in the last 4 years, I get varying degrees of the exact same result: More frequencies (especially high's and hi-mid's) and more sustain.

Dirty cymbals all the way for me. Suits every style better here and takes a mellow background and lifts the atmosphere instead of taking center stage.
