This is literally "As Long As You're Mine" but Gelphie. It's slower too and written in the key as if it were already written for Gelphie. I absolutely love this 💚💖
This a callback to Fiyero not Glinda. and it is intended for the character Fiyero. Fiyero turns into the well-known character, the Scarecrow at the end of the musical, who is a side character in the original story. Hence the line in the lyrics to Fiyero's opening lines, "Maybe I'm BRAINLESS. Maybe I'm WISE." Boch turns into the heartless Tin Man when Elphie casts her spell in 'No Good Deed' to save Fiyero and she turns both Boch and Fiyero into characters we all know. Boch becomes the Tin Man, and Fiyero becomes the Scarecrow. Hence the line 'Maybe I'm Brainless." that is a foreshadowing line to who Fiyero will be at the end of the musical. if you know the original 1940 musical The Wizard of of Oz. Guess what the Scarecrow sings about. "If I only have a Brain" Not everything has to be sapphic and a gay shipping between two female friends.
@@CKProductions-07 Not everything has to be sapphic but theres no reason why it can't be anyone can ship anything they like and comment about it and lots of people see these characters this way in this story and thats their right. There was no need to be condescending to the original commenter about who the song was originally intended for as they clearly know the story if they know the ship name for Glinda and Elphaba. Would you like someone telling you not everything has to be straight? Would you like someone telling you how to think? To take away your freedom of thought because they didn't want you thinking something?
@@ChaosandHavoc again it doens't make sense for two girls to be gay in this universe. It's not organic storytelling. Okay so. First time I’m hearing this because I’ve been avoiding it because I’m fragile. My girlfriend and I sang this at an award show and neither of us knew this version existed. Right now, she’s on another continent. Right now, I am trying not to break into hysterics. This feels like falling in love again...
I ugly cried so loudly that I had to go back and listen again after I had calmed down. This was amazingly beautiful and gave me all the feels. Please keep all the quality gay Wicked content coming.
Finally justice for Annaleigh. Even though she had the best most original version (one I actually liked) of “wonderful”, she had to have one of the good tracks from the musical. And this version is beautiful.
This is such a beautiful rendition of an iconic song. Whoever disliked this video, well, I find it a little strange. But, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. My opinion is that this was a beautiful music video, and it has really made my day. Jennifer and Annaleigh both did an amazing job with this song 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
I can kind of see where they are coming from. It's not that this version is bad per se. But "Aslong as you're mine" is my favorite song of the whole album and this here is very low key. I also find this version a little boring. For me, none of these points warrant a dislike but I also didn't give it a like either...
"say there's no future for us as a pair and though I may know I don't care" TELL ME THAT THAT ISN'T THE PERFECT SET OF LYRICS FOR A WLW COUPLE IN A SOCIETY THAT HUNTS PEOPLE DOWN FOR BEING DIFFERENT. I DARE YOU.
Actually, it is Gregory McGuire you should have your aggrieves to because the musical is based on the book by Gregory McGuire Wicked: Life and times of the Wicked Witch of the West. And in the book, since I read it like 3-4 times in high school, Elphaba's love interest in the book is Fiyero, not Glinda.
@@CKProductions-07thank you for clarifying. Could you please explain, isn‘t it the book that started with hints between the girls? Like not only a little touch here and there or a look but kisses? That‘s what other readers talk about. That all the gelphie ideas started in the book. I haven‘t read it myself, as it is supposed to be pretty dark. Not sure if i am stable enough to handel that.
@@CKProductions-07 but Gregory did write that Elphaba and Glinda love each other romantically. You're correct in saying Glinda is not Elphabas main love interest but I don't want to take that away from the amount of pining between them in the book.
@@f.h.7671 No. Glinda and Elphaba were friends in the book. In the book, Elphaba and Fiyero engage in a love affair with each other, and there are several...s*x scenes between the two of them one explicit detail I remember or a description is this, "it like blue diamonds moving on a green field." In the book, Fiyero has blue dimands across one side of his body as tattoos from his region where he is from. And as Fiyero was falling for Elphaba and cheating on his wife, which was an arranged marriage. Since there is a political thing going on during the time of Elphaba and Frieyo's love affair, with Elphie in the lead of stopping animal rights or something (The flying monkeys and Dr. diamond), Elphaba tells Fiyero to stay away from her, so he doesn't get killed. Well, in the book, unlike the musical, Fiyero does get brutally murdered by the Oz police. And Elphie was so ruined by that she went into hiding somewhere in an abbey of some kind, where she gives birth to a son which will lead into the second book, 'Son of a Witch'. And if I remember right....there is a scene where Elphaba looks to her son Liir and said something that his father was not lost, as she sees something in the Scaracrow that reminds Elphie of her dead lover Fiyero, when the Tin Man and the scarecrow rescue Dorothy, who Elphie has in the castle. Yeah, after Fiyero's death in the book, Elphaba goes a bit nuts and psychotic. Watching Fiyero die like that ruined Elphie and her psyche a bit. So you get to see her become more and more detached from reality. But yeah, Elphaba always, ALWAYS had a romantic liking for Fiyero and never Glinda. Read the book.
