I get you, but I think it gets easier after a while and it's very useful. Like if you have women in your family/ friends same hight, but somehow you can't exchange/ borrow clothes because it doesn't work, but why? Or something in your closet doesn't work for you, but it will for your sister. I'm a R, my niece is SC and my sis in law is N. That explains so much and cured me from feeling inadequate. If you watch more of Aly's videos you'll get it. It's great how she describes each type with admiration. Also in the end sometimes you don't have one of the defining characteristics of a type, but everything else about you screams a certain type and that's the style that suits you best, I think it's that elusive essence 😊. Can you do anothet comparison between petite kibbe celebrties? Shakira's height and type was surprising to me - her type makes sense, but it's just not common to hear of petite soft naturals. I think I would love a comparison of celebrties that are on the shorter side of petite women who range from 4'11"- 5'2" since a lot of times the comparison videos are of women who are actually somewhat moderate in height. A video that's focused on the short end of petite would be helpful for understanding the differences in these types especially in my ethnic background (Asian).

I feel that when we talk about whether a person is "short" or "tall", we should put ethnicity into consideration too (e.g. "short" for Dutch women is not the same concept as "short" for other ethnicities, as they're very tall in general). America is a weird place where people of all ethnicities are put on the same scale to compare, whereas in other places that is very rare. Lucy Liu will be a "short" dramatic classic in a white person's perspective, but compare to her own ethnicity, people from Hong Kong and Guang Dong, especially compare to those of her age and generation (younger generations have way better nutrition), she is rather tall.

You can opt for 'cut' lines. When I say that I mean you can use contrasting colors for clothes, if you wear dresses you can put on a belt in a contrasting color, as well as complementing your outfits with a blazer and some sort of element that brings a level of structure to the outfit (like a flowing dress with a linen blazer and a nice belt on the waist).

I'm Asian. A Filipina. And I'm VERY petite. In fact, my nephew calls me "midget" yet no, I'm not. My height which is 4'9/4'10 is NOT RARE in my country.
Yet, ppl whom I can compare myself with in terms of height are either bigger or smaller in their structure.
I have a friend, she's same height as me, and she's a bit overweight but her hands are much smaller than mine. I also have a tita (aunt), who has the same height, yet I'm not sure if I'm just fatter but regardless, I think she's thinner but with bigger hands/feet I think. Or maybe were in the same category but I could not think of her as Gamine.
Bec if we'll think of just height then, then we'll be putting a lot of Asians in Gamine category or type.
We need updated version of Kibbe otherwise Asians we need to have our own

    • @erikabautista7072

I don't think we'd all necessarily fall under gamines, like Aly said you have to take into consideration a person's proportions in relation to their height. That includes bone structure, facial features, symmetry and whatnot. I have a friend who's the same height as you but she's definitely fuller figured and would probably be under theatrical romantic or just romantic. Im taller than her (just shy of 5'3) and am much narrower and have a pretty good combination of delicate and sharpness (and just straight up massive eyes), so I'm most likely under gamine. My mother's the same height as me but her figure is more comparable with my friend's (lush and much more soft, like a romantic). And another friend who's the same height but is definitely more muscular her overall look is that of a natural's.
So it isn't just about height, and I think it's normal to have deviations. Also, the kibbe system isn't infallible and isn't always going to be 100% right every time. Haha just my two cents as a fellow filipina

But I am 5'2.5 and if I listen to what you say here about Classics snot being anything but average length, this contradicts what this expert typed me as. I'm sticking with Classic but I find all this detail a bit more confusing even though I apprecite that you try to help, as do all you kibbe believers. One possibility with theatrical romantic is you can have short arms and legs but a longer torso/smaller head longish vertical line + narrow thing going on. Where shorter hems and gamine lines are worse for you than the whole 1930s long gown smooth line thing kibbe had mentioned. You don't wanna break up your vertical line too much there. I’m a Kibbe SD, my vertical line is moderate to long, even though I look short on pictures and people tell me I look short. But since vertical line is about your lines from shoulders to knees, since I have an elongated curve that means vertical. The distance from my shoulders to knees is moderate to long, that won’t happen if I was a romantic. Which means I have to be SD because I need to accommodate my elongated curve in silhouette. At this point I’m just going to stop watch her videos. It’s sad to see her trying to correct herself only to spread more misinformation in the end.

I am 5 foot but in photos I don’t look like a short woman. Like my arms aren’t short and stubby. I have a bigger curvy butt. And thicker thighs and thick upper legs. I’d love to know what exactly to call my body type. Is there a way I can email u some photos of my body ? This is so interesting and I’d love to know what exactly my body type is . Btw My measurements are 25 waist, 38 hips . 33 bust. I have scoliosis as well so my left ribcage does protrude out slightly which I hate because it makes me feel ugly and so with that it measures 28 and a half and if that rib didn’t protrude out I’d only be 26 and a half around my rib cage making my torso look so much better with having a 25 inch waist. So I feel my body looks mis proportioned to me. Does anyone else have this issue of having a small waist, shapely hips , but rib cage kinda of big for being a petite woman?

At 5’6” you will not have petite proportions in Kibbe’s system. I’m a 5’5” SD, but my inseam is 27” and I always buy petite in shirts as well. But since my curve is so elongated at my height, I have vertical. And since I have vertical I cannot be petite. At your height, your vertical will automatically be moderate to long. Which means you cannot be any petite types, because you cannot be petite in Kibbe if you’re above 5’5”.

Yeah thats how i know I’m soft dramatic at 5’7 because I don’t have the structured face or body. Im more curvy and soft.

Sarah Jessica Parker always confuses me because she looks sooo short and always has to me. How do people get vertical line? Don't trust me though I'm just watching this after months of avoiding Kibbe types. I tried to figure mine out last year and had to stop due to how bad I began to feel about myself.

How do you manage that your hair looks so healthy? It looks like you are coming from the hairdresser every time.
