They're rightfully terrified, but I at least like to imagine (lacking 99% of the story knowledge) that they ended up inspired by what can be done, realized 'corporate' is out to fuck them all, and they join in as something MP. Reminding me a bit of Halo's teams mixed with Mass Effect's rapidly established teams/N7(?). In reality though, they probably all die before you finish the level.
Just pure, brutal fun in a lore-packed world. That's all we need. It's what we've been missing, what we've had so little of. And id just keeps delivering.

The eternal wait is finally over! I grew up in the 90's and played Doom 1 & 2, Dark Forces, Duke 3D, Half-Life, etc essentially when they came out respectively. DOOM Eternal is by far the best FPS game that I have ever played. Nothing even comes close. DOOM is ETERNAL!

Doomguy was being a bit merciful there when he was not directly hitting them with the rocket launcher, either that or he wants the demons to to die a slow death. maybe the second one.
Rocket deal splash damage and judging from the video it does not have splash damage multiplier so indirect method is is better (and killing more than 1 demon is better than wasting ammo on 1).
I love the fact they used Sign of Evil at 16:33. Classic doom ost right there, and it gives me the same feeling it did back on E1M8 the first time I played it.
Judging from the "Demon is offensive", "Doom Slayer threat at maximum", and the people's reactions when he is on Phobos... would it be a reasonable assumption that he was given a bad rep for his glorious demon killing.
I think it's more of everyone knowing that the Doomslayer is the actual incarnation of death, and that at any moment he could turn each and every one of them into pulp, just with his little toe.
Considering his reputation and the lore surrounding him of being this ancient unstoppable demon-killing god of destruction who has torn through Hell's legion for ages with such unquenchable bloodlust and savagery that all demonkind fear him, it's only natural for the humans to be very nervous around him. After all, would you like to be on his bad side?
UAC controls Earth, is corrupt and wants to explore hell for it's own reasons, of course they would be against the glorious Doomguy, slayer of the Cyberdemon, asskicker extraordinaire.
So many great references. The plasma rifle is back to its original state, the arch vile at the end is SO badass too. So many little great things, the development of these games are insanely good. And the lore backstory was super great, including the fact that doomguy is revealed not to be human in the literal first minutes of gameplay but that can only be understood after finishing the game. I'm super excited about what happens next to this franchise
I did like the "destructible demons" elements of DOOM 2016, with small details like imps dropping their fireballs, cacodemons getting blinded and firing wildly, etc.
Fucking awesome really. But only as fast as the player is able to handle. Seeing RUclipsrs who "play" vidya gaems is gonna be awkward even near the end of the campaign I presume.
Even now it still feels kinda surreal to think "story development" could even remotely be related to Doom. I love this franchise and how it's developed over the years
I want to hug whoever thought to add a hookshot to super shotgun. Such a simple, but elegant addition. Backcannon for using grenades and other toys? Flamethrower? Yes, please! Loving arsenal retooling in general. Machinegun is looking somewhat gauss saw there. Oldie plasma looks like it'd be a fun weapon to explore. New mobility options, maps to allow to use them. Yes, please. That intro section got full on robocop vibes. And kinda quake 4 looking orbital defense cannon too. About only nitpick I can think of is sound effects of guns' impacts and mobs themselves getting lost in the action. If both this and previous DOOM would have sound design on the level of Quake 1, they'd absolutely knock it out of the park. As is, they are 'simply' excellent.

A true gamer's game. This is what a triple-A title looks like, and with a healthy dose of new gameplay elements, compelling art style with a whole bunch of refreshed enemies, and that little bit of humor to keep the player engaged. This is gonna be good
Other dev’s - Here's a generic assault rifle and some cover. Kite some enemies back and don’t get shot. If you’re good, we’ll drop some grenades but you can only throw a super short distance. Realism is sooo immersive Id - We’ve given you a grapplehook shotgun and you have a flamethrower on your shoulder. Also you can doublejump. Yeah, and we know how frustrating it is to have to walk a long way across these maps, so btw you can run at highway speeds. Just go do what feels natural 2016 was freakin magic. I’ve got high hopes for this one

The eternal wait is finally over! I grew up in the 90's and played Doom 1 & 2, Dark Forces, Duke 3D, Half-Life, etc essentially when they came out respectively. DOOM Eternal is by far the best FPS game that I have ever played. Nothing even comes close. DOOM is ETERNAL!

Rocket deal splash damage and judging from the video it does not have splash damage multiplier so indirect method is is better (and killing more than 1 demon is better than wasting ammo on 1).

I love the fact they used Sign of Evil at 16:33. Classic doom ost right there, and it gives me the same feeling it did back on E1M8 the first time I played it.
Judging from the "Demon is offensive", "Doom Slayer threat at maximum", and the people's reactions when he is on Phobos... would it be a reasonable assumption that he was given a bad rep for his glorious demon killing.
I think it's more of everyone knowing that the Doomslayer is the actual incarnation of death, and that at any moment he could turn each and every one of them into pulp, just with his little toe.
Considering his reputation and the lore surrounding him of being this ancient unstoppable demon-killing god of destruction who has torn through Hell's legion for ages with such unquenchable bloodlust and savagery that all demonkind fear him, it's only natural for the humans to be very nervous around him. After all, would you like to be on his bad side?

It's a small little detail, but I love how the Cacodemon's blood is blue just like in the original games.
So many great references. The plasma rifle is back to its original state, the arch vile at the end is SO badass too. So many little great things, the development of these games are insanely good. And the lore backstory was super great, including the fact that doomguy is revealed not to be human in the literal first minutes of gameplay but that can only be understood after finishing the game. I'm super excited about what happens next to this franchise

I did like the "destructible demons" elements of DOOM 2016, with small details like imps dropping their fireballs, cacodemons getting blinded and firing wildly, etc.

About only nitpick I can think of is sound effects of guns' impacts and mobs themselves getting lost in the action. If both this and previous DOOM would have sound design on the level of Quake 1, they'd absolutely knock it out of the park. As is, they are 'simply' excellent.

Id - We’ve given you a grapplehook shotgun and you have a flamethrower on your shoulder. Also you can doublejump. Yeah, and we know how frustrating it is to have to walk a long way across these maps, so btw you can run at highway speeds. Just go do what feels natural
