My first day in CID - Развлечения
Don’t get how people even sleep at night without a gun on their nightstand.
I always sleep with mine right next to me. Loaded and ready to go! 👍
I'm kinda glad I live in a country where you don't need a gun to feel safe, but that's just me.
I live in a disarmed society. feelin pretty safe
same i have at least 4 guns next to me
The one on the nightstand provides cover for the one living under the pillow...lol
Turning in your patrol vehicle for an unmarked vehicle must be a great feeling
Hell yes!
McDonalds Wifi97 what if you dont have a vehicle to begin with ?
Ess L Unfortunately if you dont have a vehicle you arent a police officer
ty long that is not true whatsoever
@@tylong6382 what if they lived by the police station?
“Little did I know” 😂 *spends 16 and a half hours at work on first day*
Right?! This is some BUUUUUUUSHIT
They say that they are wannbe thug
"I've been watching too much Walking Dead" *and I spit coffee all over my keyboard*
Great line, great timing. Love it. :-D
My dad’s a 15 year veteran and his detective exam is in 2 weeks. He’s been studying hard for hours at a time for months. Hope it goes well for him. Congrats on becoming a detective, 401.
Good luck to him!
tonypepperonio how did he do?
Deexdead - He passed! He’s getting his promotion in April!
tonypepperonio nice to hear that :)
tonypepperonio congratulations, I’m hoping to be a detective too
Holy shit I thought my first day on the job sucked! And to be somebody that you wished you could have helped a month ago. Life is brutal man thank you for sharing this real life stuff
Thanks for watching, buddy! :)
I'm training hard for the police academy next year! I want to be an officer for pbso ( palm beach sheriffs office)
Your videos are inspiring! Thank you!
Good luck 👍🏽💯💯
Charles smoove Thanks brother! Just takes hard work and dedication that's all!
Ondřej Bříza Wishing you all the best my man! Aim high
I am getting ready for the army then I want to come back and be a cop, good luck man
Compatriot Yankee That's a great approach man! Good luck
back up the camera I feel like you staring into my soul
LMAO
Cube OS that's just how I like it
That's some detective technique to force yourself to volunteer the confession(in comments). 😂😂
I almost started to divulge one. 😂😂
Officer401 so many people in law enforcement need to take a que from you! Down to earth, cool, and honest dude. Maybe your differnt when you are working but in here you are a 10 of 10. Thanks for the videos!
Thanks buddy! I'm actually just like this on-duty haha. I try to cut up with people and make them laugh. It usually helps people calm their nerves during high-stress calls.
Hell yeah, solving crimes and catching killers
Well that killer was easy to find. It's the who-done-it's that take time.
Well good luck brother, look forward to hearing about more of your experiances
officer401 hey Officer 401 I have a question: so is it true that if I wanted to be a police detective I’d have to be a police officer first.
THE MONGREL
Basically yeah
THE MONGREL yes
I love how down to earth you are in your videos. I'm sure you are that way most of the time. Love hearing about your first day as a detective.
Officer401 - I have so much respect for law-enforcement and because of you it's helped me to understand even more of the hardships that being in law-enforcement go through. Now I know you're not speaking for the entirety, but it's nice to get an honest and open insight. Thank you very much for all that you do for your community!
I study a degree in criminology & criminal justice, i'd like to get into the police & work my way up to a detective role. This is super inspiring! Thanks for the vid! :)
I can only say that I have the greatest respect for you and all our friends in blue for choosing that career and doing your best to protect the rest of us and having to deal with the worst that people can do.
I love your videos!!! I'm so glad we have cops like you and that you give this sort of transparency. Thank you and God bless.
Thanks, you are one of the real officers out there. I appreciate you and your service to your community.
I start the Police Academy on Monday here in Oklahoma. I'm stoked. I watch your videos and take in a lot of your advice.
What’s your update?
@@VoiAhoyTV completed the police academy, made it through the FTO process and have been on the streets for a while now. Its an amazing career and I am happy I have chose this career. This is definitely more th as n a job, its a way of life. If you have questions please feel free to ask.
@WorksForMe I still enjoy it. Being s cop is hard in todays climate but we dont become cops to quit when it gets tough. I love the impact that I have had on my community.
@@adduser1601 Stay out of trouble, keep your head in the books and run. Run a lot. In our academy we ran close to 6 miles a day.
@@shawnsmith3419 What's your day to day on the job? What do you mostly do on patrol?
Agreed everyone should own a gun and get trained to use it effectively. Don't just buy one and throw it in the closet and never touch it again. Practice regularly.
Aside from that, practice is fun. I shoot basically every weekend. Great stress reliever.
+Matthew Lamson The state is there to make sure you can legally own a gun and have basic knowledge, a responsible gun owner is the one who trains with it.
Matthew Lamson its the citizens responsibility to maintain there proficiency not the states or county's. Same as the responsibility to vote. Its our duty as citizens to take these responsibilities seriously.
Matthew Lamson no its not, no one takes self responsibility any more. Its always someone else's fault or someone else's job. The problem with government mandating training is it becomes a slippery slope. Because it would be easy for somebody whose anti-gun to change training requirements that would force you to train a 180 hours a year or something ridiculous like that just to maintain the right that was given to us by God and not government to keep and bear arms. It's the responsibility of the responsible citizen to spread a culture of wanting to be trained and regularly practice for not only our self-defense and self-preservation but for the defense of our country if the need arises.
Matthew Lamson don't get me wrong I see You just want what's best and your wanting this in good faith but our freedoms are being robbed from us every day because of good intentions. But then someone twists the good intentions law to meet there bad intentions and screws us out of our freedom. In really not trying to be a dick.
I am very thankful for all your time and effort to edit and post many advices that many don't do. Enjoy your life mister🤠Thank You!!
I love your videos, thank you! Your character is beyond perfect, body language, eye contact, topic, voice and speed of speech, never boring.
I love how you went from the serious tone of this video to the joke at the end. A great way to break the sadness. Comic relief.
i wonder if the Captain yells at him every time he doesn’t do something by the book and tells him he’s a loose canon🤣🤣🤣
I like how you did this video, the background and how you told the story made it feel real, like I was living out that day myself. Amazing work and one of the best videos from you to date.
Officer 401, I know your job isn't easy, mentally, physically, and emotionally. You are one of the many brave souls. Bravery isn't a lack of fear, but going into action and doing what has to be done in spite of your fear. Thank you for what you and your colleagues in blue do to keep us safe.
Detective 401
I liked the ending, you're a real goofball . Starting a serious/sad video and ending it with a good laugh shows me what kind of a person you are. It's one of the reasons why I enjoy watching, listening, laughing, and learning from your channel. I'm the type of person that tries to bring something positive out from a negative situation or conversation. I try to start with something positive then the negative and end it with a positive so that whoever is involved walks away feeling better. I do this when handling youth and adults too when they come to me for help as well. They know I'm easy to talk to
BTW... I LOVE THE 👔 MAKES YOU LOOK 10 OR 11. 👌💪😁
You can just see the emotion in your eyes. I hope this job is rewarding considering the negatives that come with it. Thank you for doing what you do. Great video.
Congrats on your promotion.
Thank you for keeping all of us safe.
More people need to show support and thanks to all of our Police Departments.
The best I can do is, every holiday I bake for my family and I bake extra for my local Police Department here in North West NJ.
I just found your channel so I have a lot to catch up on.
Be safe.
No more having to wear an uncomfortable vest I'm in.
But you haveto wear slacks and dress shoes
Josh Davis not necessarily lol
Josh Davis most of the time these days, it depends on your environment around you to blend in
Voltron Defender of the Universe but I would have the best under all the layers and put you clothes on
I'm so excited to be a detective one day omg
So, how has that endeavor been after three years?
I appreciate what you do and love the videos
God bless you for everything you do man. Stay safe
See I like @Officer401 because he doesn’t do rants on politics and make fun of people he just simply talks about his day it’s great!
if a cop arrests someone and does not read them their miranda rights is the cop able to use whatever the person says against them in court?
Yes. People think we need to read Miranda any time they are arrested and this is not true at all. There's two factors that have to be met before Miranda is required. 1) You're under arrest....2) You're being questioned about the crime and your involvement in it.
Without both of those, it's not mandatory. Spontaneous utterances a suspect makes in the back seat are admissible in court.
officer401 can you make a video on it
Davion Lyons I second that
Travis Ritenour i fourth that
I fifth that
Absolutely love your content 401 also thank you for your service
Wow. Near the end you can really see the impact this year has had on 401. Love from us all, Detective!
Another awesome, informative video. Quick question though: you said that you swapped the plate for a civilian one. Is that legal? Wouldn't you have to reregister it? Or do you mean a plain plate issued by the department?
Good question! Plate issued by the department. If I get stopped, it won't come back to anything.
officer401 Oh nice. That's what I figured, but I appreciate the clarification.
Probably similar to a DEALER plate? They can put it on any vehicle they drive, as long as it is an authorized personal.
You guys still get the tags from a junk yard? That is where we got ours.
officer401 I’ve got a plate like that, but when I get pulled over they’re always like ooooohhh who’s car is this, we’re going to tow it if you don’t tell us... big deal, the cops on RUclips do it
Working with the dead is very strange. I worked for the county coroner for over 3 months. Saw alot of fucked up stuff! But when I saw the body of a toddler, I quit!
Kids get everyone.
I see coroner and crime scene pictures a the time. Only time I ever flinched was when I saw a mentally challenged toddler that choked to death because the foster mom accidently made a mistake.
Not only was the picture make my heart drop, the story behind it made it drop harder.
It's so much worse in person. First dead child I seen was a little girl, she wasn't even a year old and her mother's boyfriend raped her which caused her death.
It is terrible to see in person. It was a 2 yr old boy. Still in his spiderman pjs. It was a child abuse case. After seeing this it gave me nightmares. I had to quit.
Mr. Doughboy you know those times in movies when somebody’s mouth drops open, yeah that happened. I’m shocked and disgusted
And through all those stressful situations you still find time to put out RUclips videos that people like me appreciate thank you for your service
Right there with you bro. After 11 years on patrol I just wrapped up my first week in Investigations!
I was soooo proud when I got my detective badge in ‘73.
It's already been a year since you got promoted? I still remember the video when you announced it in your car back when nobody knew what you looked like . A year? Wow
Dad was in the military, special forces to be exact and the amount of death he has described to me that he witnessed haunts me to the bone...im talking bodies in ditches and just everywhere...no should have to go through that at any point... So when someone does, police, military etc i really do praise them and thank them for the service they provide us...officer401 i appreciate all that you do and have done to protect and serve the people.
I love you and your videos! You the man!
I'm 15 years old living in Toronto Canada, I'd love to pursue a career in law enforcement. Your videos motivate me even more. I just hope I don't go through college and everything then end up not becoming a police officer due to the testing and stuff. Keep it up man
I’m 16 and also want to be a detective. But I can’t stand school, like I hate doing math! I have no use for it in my future, am I going to solve math equations while I am investigating?!?
You might but the thing about math is to work your brain in problem solving and steps of equations things you will need for the rest of your life.
Ecx I also wanted to become a detective after a couple years of being a cop but I recently watched his video about being a detective and idk anymore because he said he has no family life and stuff like that
I see. For me I don’t really care about hanging out with my family that much, maybe on holidays or special occasions
Hey man awesome video! how old were you when you first became a police officer?
You have to be at least 23
Ok. I think for most departments it 21
it’s*
Thanks for the honest feed back!
Good luck 401 Stay strong brother and safe enjoy the videos keep them coming
How long did it take for you to become a detective, also what did you have to start out as before being a detective?
Doesn't the government in USA have any temporary homes for those who need protection any possible way? If there is any kind of this homes the victim may have been alive now. Maybe im wrong?
That's a seriously good question. I can't speak for every jurisdiction...but ours really only has protection for women in a domestic violence situation.
officer401
Pretty much the same here in Sweden as well.
We have the women's shelter here but if it's not related to DV they'll be put into a hotel room through the DA's office.
officer401 What about male victims of domestic violence by females? Is there protection for them or are they on their own?
ray I think the main reason the government of most countries protects women and children first is that the society in most countries assume that men are stronger than women and children, which was also and idea most people had during wars when they used to protect women and children first.
Congratulations officer401 and getting the detective job I believe you're going to do very well at that job. Because people that are add are good Detectives that's no joke. We people that are add think really in-depth or ADHD
Also the production value on this quick video was nice. Good lighting. High quality resolution. Not too many jump Cuts love it keep it up man
Can you do another car tour... maybe swat or something?
My cousin drove to my hometown Houston from Mexico. He got pulled over because his license plate light went out. He told me that the cop let him go because there was too much paperwork involved with looking up a foreign driver license. Would that be true?
Awesome video as usual! Really informative and entertaining. Keep it up!!
love hearing about the prep work involved Hope you enjoy the new gig.. keep that gold shield of gold shiny Brother
I didn't know government plates could be switched out with regular plates. Do unmarked vehicles have two sets of plates or do you switch out the government plates for dummy plates?
We have a whole stash of undercover plates. We can swap them out whenever.
So it sounds like you definitely get lots of overtime hours being a detective. Do you get paid for all of those extra hours?
Good question! Wish I knew the answer
I just took my accuplacer test to become post certified and hoping to joint my local sheriffs office soon. My family has been in the sheriffs office in Florida for years but I needed a little push to really want it bad enough to go for it, Thank you for inspiring me to become law enforcement.
You definitely can’t be thanked enough for all the things you have to see and deal with on behalf of your community. In my book LEOs are heroes. Many thanks for being there and please make sure to take care of you. Many thanks.
I remember my first dead body while on the Sheriff's Department....
"hey Officer, there's something wrong with this white boy. He's cold and stiff".
(it was a OD situation).
HI!
Have a great life! :)
I love the fact that because I have watched all your videos, I'm able to answer questions about policing that I hear other people ask. And do you know what their reply is most all the time? "Well that makes sense, I can understand why they do that now"
Congratulations on the promotion! Stay strong out there bud!
I want to become a detective but I’m scared of the dead😭😭
There are different kinds of detectives and some don’t deal with dead bodies,
@@chloe-ev3qk There are PI detectives, fire investigators (O&C), there’s a plethora of detectives, I suggest looking on google because those are a couple that I can name off the top of my head
this is what I want to be, a homicide detective.

Loved the background in this typed to the seriousness at the end! But you've got this 401. If CID isn't what you want theres always more options. You've got support both here and by your family.
Also, 401, thanks for all that insight into the detective work, it definitely sounds grueling, but at the same time, it doesn't deter me.

I sleep with my P1911 and my Glock 19 on my nightstand both fully loaded, and i keep extra mags on standby within reachable distance, btw can you do a video talking about self-defense if someone breaks into your house, can a citizen use deadly force when necessary???? love the videos office..... i mean Detective401, you should change your username to what you are which is a detective, it sounds cool af but its just my opinion
@Chase Jones. Use of deadly force and gun laws are very state specific topics. In TN, for instance, the Castle Doctrine extends, for yourself and your spouse, the right to carry a loaded gun in your car without a carry permit (provided that it is not on your person). Castle Doctrine states will generally hold that you have the presumption of the fear of death or great bodily harm if someone is or has broken into your home (and in some states vehicle and/or place of business). Some states hold that you have a duty to retreat even in your own home/vehicle/place of business. Now a video explaining the different self defense laws from Castle Doctrine to Stand Your Ground, etc. would be nice.
I'm from the UK Phillip, but even I know Gun owners can own Gun safes, with finger print technology that can unlock in seconds that prevent any harm from coming from it being in the wrong hands, not just Gun safes, but Education is Key, If I was an American id teach my children all about firearms for example, why its important to be safe around them, and Why they are Important items to have the freedom to own in general.
Just found you channel and subbed. Never knew i was so interested in cop stuff. Love these vids and cant wait for more. keep it up.
Sir I want to say I appreciate you and what you do for your community thank you sir
Didn’t you become a detective in March?
Yep! Good memory!
Early because of discord
deleted44 You in any clans?
I've been sooo bored sitting in the house with nothing to do because of the rain, so it made my day when I got this notification. Keep up the good work!!
Did a search and there were quite a few murder/suicides in Georgia. Quite sad if you ask me. Glad guys like you are out looking into them and protecting us. Thank you.
With saying you're never home and have no family life... that's hard to imagine for me. How do you stay motivated to get out there? How do you cope with missing your family and having work on your mind all the time etc.
Hope my question is making sense
It's hard bro. I know as a detective I'm making a bigger difference, and the severity of the crimes I deal with are a lot bigger than patrols majority calls. So that makes me feel pretty strongly about it.
officer401 much respect to you. I'm about a year out from applying to be an officer in Texas. Always figured detective might be how I finish. It sounds very mentally tough.. keep fighting the good fight, and thank you for that dedication. Praying for you and your family
Hey I live in forsyth! Im a cinematographer, if you ever want a cinematic video hit me up!
I can relate to meeting someone one moment and then reading about that same person in the local paper. It was sad because I was in middle school and this lady was substituting our computer class. Later that week I read in the paper that she died from a car accident trying to avoid a cyclist. Things happen but it’s so eerie dealing with this kind of stuff
I am right there with, I work full time at a small combination department and there are times I have had to work 48-72 hours straight with very little sleep.
I hope this officer considers going into teaching/training at a police academy after he retires.
I would love to! I love teaching!
Are you sitting there puffing out your chest with shoulders back or is it just the plaid shirt?
Just the shirt...I don't have a reason to puff my chest out...I'm not a bro/guido haha
He's just swole as fuck, obviously.

Great vid thank you for your service
I want to thank you for your videos. They've been very informative and insightful. You had mentioned a couple times that you promote people asking for clarity on specific subjects. Could you possibly explain in clear detail the steps of getting a call to investigating? For instance, you mentioned a little in this video about getting a call and watching the CDTs do their job. I was hoping to know how much time a detective spends at a crime scene (do they stay for the whole CSI/CST process?), and what does a detective do about the case until the recordings (forensics, etc.) are amassed. I'm doing research for a college short story and I don't have many resources...
Hey Officer401, can I get a comment that's Favorited?
Just this once.
officer401 you're the best!
Not first

Hey 401. I just posted a video on why we use deadly force as opposed to “shooting to wound” which I got the idea from all the shoot them in the leg comments from your last video. I plugged your channel and put the link in my show notes. I hope you don’t mind me picking up a few scraps from your content. Love your videos!
