Well, you should try it again. I fell ill with shingles when I was due to sit my (British) O-levels, and failed my maths exam abysmally. It played on my conscience for decades - so I restudied and took the modern equivalent through an online college course 2 years ago - and scored 99% (that's a better result than I had expected when I was at school!)
