My favorite variation on this theme is "Buying crap you don't need, with money you don't have, to impress people you don't like." Basically, America in a nutshell.
I've been trying to piece it into a cohesive narrative for a while but with all of these extreme sexual abuse allegations coming out from the Mormon, protestant, and catholic traditions, I have begun to theorize that their exaltation of sexual purity and the repressing of their own sexual desire actually stimulates within them an inclination towards pedophilic exploitation. It's like fasting but for the entirety of your life and the consequences of their deviation from the middle way are becoming more self evident as the scandals that theyve been hiding are brought into the light.
This was very helpful! Thank you Jason. I struggled for years with guilt and this idea of needing to admit I’m a sinner. This shows me I need to learn so much more. I appreciate what you do. Much love to you.
Suppressing sexual desire is healthy when you have no access to mating. Frustration is a part of life. And sexual desire is guilty when it allows you to be manipulated. That is the definition of a sin, a weakness, a leverage to manipulate you.
I heard an audio book once that discussed the three obstacles to being an adult: Fear, Anger and Guilt. They were described as: Blocked Excitement, Ignited Excitement and Mistaken Excitement respectively. Your talk today really hit on this theme. Well done and thank you! ☯
You just opened my eyes. Thank you so much for this. Half of my life I've struggled with accepting my sexuality, I felt a huge crack inside me and immense guilt for getting naturally attracted towards same sex. I suppressed that to an extent that it manifested as resentment, that ate me up. I feel healthy and slowly better by finally accepting it.
The problem usually is your social circle. I believe sexuality is promoted too much and it creates these feelings. I like both and it's definitely an issue of losing people in your social circle who feel you're 'this or that.' Im happy for your freedom!
Well needed video. I have been learning about taoism and eastern philosophies but have had trouble absorbing the messages due to my western religious conditioning. This video has helped a little more in reverting back to my true natural human state. Thank you, Jason.
It's really a shame that so many religions think we must restrain our intuition and desires. Although we're not meant to be perfect, doesn't mean that we're wrong. Striving to be happy with ourselves is so essential, and I strongly encourage embracing our natural desires ♥
That was a beautiful explanation of the balance between yin and yang and how we can facilitate growth and development in one to balance out the other. And thank you for the images of sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems' relations to yin and yang!

Fantastic video brother🙏🏻 Thank you. One thing you slightly mistranslated though is when Terence said "culture is not your friend," he meant all culture period. Not just the hyper-decedent western cultures. He spoke explicitly about how all traditions of all cultures fundamentally marginalize one's individuality and validity of their felt experience of the present moment. Godspeed💪🏻
When Terence Mckenna speaks of "dominator cultures" sometimes he is talking about western countries, but often times he is talking about agricultural societies in general.

In my experience the ego presumes to know both its own correction and its own punishment. It, in truth, knows neither. (Such misjudgments regarding behavior is a universal condition, albeit with the Western world holding the more obvious emphasis in terms of religion.) Yet, such false knowledge is deeply embedded in the human psyche and therefore requires a good degree of expansion and refinement before becoming recognizable.
I'm still in support for semen retention or at least quitting porn. Something about modern culture where everything is drowned in dopamine and instant gratification makes conserving sexual energy a useful tool. Will it grant super powers and magic? No. Will it increase energy levels to put towards personal goals? Yeah I'd say so.
Would it be correct to say that when one overly attaches to the spiritual path, the ying-yang balance is broken too? just like when someone overly attaches to the constant action of modern societies. In one case the Ying is overwhelming, while in the other the Yang is?
Struggled with this my whole life. I began to view the laws as dogma of man. God would only allow what he wants, which is a certain level of deviation.
I am pretty sure that Terence McKenna wasn't speaking of Western culture only. He was speaking of culture in general, that dumbs you down in believing that psychedelics or really going your own way aren't good for you In another context when he's speaking of the 'evil' of culture he is even explicitly stating that he was not only aiming at Western cultures, but also at more sustainable cultures, like the amazonian tribes and for example the ancient cultures.

Try not to suppress but transform your sexual energy...it is a huge potent energy attached directly to the life force of each individual...the only healthy sex bond is a monogamous bond with a person who has no agenda but to love and experience beauty

Not at all, my friend. You need to understand the Jiva in relation to the Ultimate Reality and why karma is not a system based on a Jiva's conditioned morality. It is much more intricate than your explanation. If you want to know more then I suggest watching this video on the basic tenets of karma ruclips.net/video/ehNkGJzSko4/видео.html and also this video on why karma is a natural based system that is not governed by manmade moral systems ruclips.net/video/5uJMCjP0-hI/видео.html I could explain a lot more, but everything is in those two videos. @@JasonGregoryAuthor thank I will watch after work. Can I ask you one thing now, is there a Taoist perspective on Karma? Any videos or books or thoughts?
People struggle to accept truth esp if it doesnt fit into their pleasures and world view. I believe the answer is in rebirth and growing awareness. Its pointless bearing a dead horse. People must either come to realisation through videos such as these and their own drive towards soul freedom which is in all of us. In the end, truth will prevail even if it takes a while.
5:37 It sounds like you are trying to make out the Tao in life as eternal and not finite. Karma is finite, and so we receive finite laws: "We have, under all circumstances, enjoined on men what is right, and forbidden what is wrong. He Who is the Lord of Being is witness that this Wronged One hath besought from God for His creatures whatever is conducive to unity and harmony, fellowship and concord. By the righteousness of God! This Wronged One is not capable of dissimulation. He, verily, hath revealed that which He desired; He, truly, is the Lord of strength, the Unrestrained." ~ Baha'u'llah
I think its because we have over glorified sex in the media. The fact that you HAVE to look a certain way to please the opposite gender, the fact that being cool/ macho means getting laid a lot is what's eating away at us. We are not normalizing it, not thinking of it as a normal thing everyone does. Its sort of sitting at a pedestal in our minds, mine included.
Taoism, Hinduism, natural faiths and Satanism all seem to embrace pleasure in moderation, and accepting being a human with all our flaws in contrast to Christianity and other faiths. Spiritual teacher and activist Rachel Fiori mentions that the universe is energy, always there and mostly feminine/yin, in contrast to the masculine creator in religions (think of the Abrahamic versions of God). Some say that the creator is also not just light (like Source is portrayed in New Age and in many Near Death Experiences) but includes darkness, the very fabric of the universe. Our societies are predominantly action oriented/masculine/yang which is very imbalanced. Without masculine, nothing gets done and without feminine, there is no healing, intuition and rest. "Being a mortal to understand immortality." Sounds like the mission for Source/all the souls in existence.
I don’t think the western religions necessarily “demonise” sex, I think these religions are aware of the importance and sacredness of sex and how too much, as you mentioned, isn’t not good for you spirituality. Hence why traditionally these religions are heavily things such as against sex outside of marriage and promiscuity. Maybe people who follow these religions (and perhaps your personal experience these people) may have interpreted their respected teaching in such a way that now said people demonise sex but you have to make a distinction between the teaching and the follower who interprets the scripture and the teachings that come with it.
Also when religions such as Christianity and Islam say we’re “born sinners” I don’t think it’s with the intention of making their respected followers feel guilty. Again I guess it’s about how u interpret things but how I see it, saying we’re “born sinners” is in fact said with the exact opposite intentions. I think telling people that we’re born sinners in inclines that were not born perfect and we’re gonna make mistakes. But As long as you repent for your mistakes( which again how I see it is just showing guilt for your wrong doing) then those mistakes will me forgiven.
@@mishcievousb4938 geez you got triggered by this video. I'm not sure why you are so defensive? Original sin embeds guilt in the followers. That is a fact that you will need to accept to understand the damage of that type of misguided worldview. Your belief still assumes that humans are animals at birth. Daoism understands that we are good from birth and culture warps us. Did you not listen to the video?
@@harrygreen3277 .... we ARE animals... that is technically what we are.. i mean.. are we a plant? A mineral? No. We are an animal, a living, breathing, moving animal. Animals are not bad...
@@harrygreen3277 Nah not triggered neither am I being defensive Harry . First of all I would like to add that despite being born into Catholicism and growing up around many Christians and Muslims I wouldn’t claim them to be MY beliefs as I no longer claim Catholicism as my religion or belief system. Secondly I have been subscribed to Jason’s channel for about nearly 2 years and within this time I have taken great interested in the great eastern traditions consuming various different related content with especially Doaism being my one favourite philosophies and one I try and Implement in my daily life. If you read my comment my point was that I don’t believe the western religions necessarily demonise the act of sex. In fact these religions are very aware how important sex hence rather they are strongly against promiscuity which Jason also mentioned is not good spirituality and a problem in western society especially. I was merely making the point that the demonisation of sex it self was an inaccurate interpretation of teachings within the scriptures(wether it be the Torah, Bible or Qur’an) by people who follow them. I then added MY interpretation of what being “born a sinner means” in said scriptures and stated that I do not believe the intention was to make people feel guilty rather to remind people that we are not born perfect and we are going to make mistakes and the guilt again was feeling invoked by an interpretation. A “sin” is just another word for a mistake or wrong doing. How does being born imperfect connote to being born an animal? And to answer you question yes, I did watch the whole video. All I’m doing is offering a different perfect perspective to the what Jason was saying. I actually agree with most of the points he made in this video. Tbh, your reply to my comment is coming across as quite triggered and defensive but there’s no need to be.Please do not confuse me adding a different perspective to the video and the points made as me being ‘triggered’ in some way. I’m merely just adding to the points and offering my perspective/opinions in a respectful and informative way I wish you the best Harry🙏🏽
@mark twain hey, like now if we don't take out health seriously we could die from simple things, that wasn't the case a long time ago, and why is that? Because now we are bombarded with toxins from every side, air, food, water, clothes, frequency, emotions, I mean every way possible just to weaken us and make us easy to control.
what about how conflict and violence is in our nature, maybe not all things that are natural are automatically good, love daoism, but nature has its limits, maybe there are parts of our nature that we need to overcome, like how we can't not believe in something, we have too understand that we have to embrace our empathy over our desire for control and the hierarchies we build in testament too this, our seeking of pedestals is natural but it's a very negative part of our nature, so nature is beautiful but conflict is part of nature and thus nature is also ugly.
I blame hustle culture for this. If you're not straining every single muscle, nerve, sinew, fiber 24/7, then you're somewhat "defective" or "beta" and you're doomed to a lifetime of misery. It infuriates me!
This comment is not going to be very popular but one must be honest. The idea of neither good nor bad has to do with a state of mind. It does not mean we can do bad deeds and not suffer nor does it mean we should not practice virtue. It is away of saying to not judge. I see many who have fallen prey to a misunderstanding of Taoism or who have fallen prey to modern leftist culture. If we must follow nature when was the last time you seen two male cows copulating and producing off spring. We must follow nature and stop the twisting of the sexes. overt perversion of sexuality will destroy one’s body and spirit. Now a days all urges are considered ok but taoists and Buddhists need to be careful and not throw out the baby with the bath water and say anything goes. The modern day belief that one can be any sex they desire, and sleep with anyone they choose is not Taoism. If one is feeling guilt for being attracted to the same sex, rather then ignoring it and trying to make peace with it, they would be better off to pay attention to it because it is their spirit speaking to them and telling them it is wrong. The idea we should suppress all guilt is another false understanding of Taoism. Their are things we should not accept and guilt could save your life, your mental health and be a guide in the right direction. If we use the natural world as our guide, we always see procreation done by male, and female. Both animals and insects produce offspring with a male, and female.
While I somewhat agree with what you are saying, I think the nature vs. nurture argument is a lot more nuanced. Also nurture is far more complex than simply isolating because nurture begins to root at birth with every interaction we have. I do, very much agree with your assessment on humanity and how these things aren't "evil" but perhaps just unwise to take to excess. That said, even nature can dictate how much excess one takes their impulses to because sometimes people are genetically predisposed to certain drives.
Animalistic sex is the BEST! I just want to say, that animalistic sex (primal sex) isn't bad or negative, neither is a more sex based relationship with someone/more than one person, neither is an open relationship, sharing, poly, or one night stands (so long as you are safe and all are consenting fully and FULLY wanting it, truly).. it is only when sex takes over your life to the point of it mentally effecting you in a negative way, is it unhealthy for you. By that i mean, say you are in work. If you constantly have sex thoughts and needs even when working, it is not mentally healthy and can cause a lot of negativity and distress on yourself. If it interferes with activities of daily life like work, then you would probably need to seek guidance and advice. Balance is different for everyone, therefore, everyone will have a different view of what is right/wrong for themselves. Some people are just more sexual than others, while others are less sexual, and that is completely fine, so long as every one in the relationship is getting what they need out of it, it is completely fine. When you are free to be yourself, not hold back, and not overindulge to the point of negativity (mentally, emotionally, physically) with everything, but, follow your natural self, whether that is a lot of sex, an average amount of sex, or little to no sex, you balance yourself out by following your intuition of your own self. However, you have to tap into yourself in order to find this balance, as balance as i stated, is different for everyone. You cannot prescribe the same medication to everyone and expect it to work on every person, so to speak. We people are not completely strictly 50/50 with our equilibrium, that is impossible. So, balance is an individual thing that only you yourself can know what is right/wrong for you.
A nun monk I once met said she feels its natural and that people can engage in it, but for her.. she finds it quite a contracted experience and the pleasure seemingly comes and goes. So she's almost forgotten about sex, Quite a lot of aspirants naturally turn away from it after a while, I've heard that also happening. Just the love and bliss of 'god' is more than enough and is ever expanding and of course never says no lol

I’m merely just adding to the points and offering my perspective/opinions in a respectful and informative way
I wish you the best Harry🙏🏽
I believe you meant to say, western religions don’t necessarily demonize heterosexuality.
If a person can inhibit the growth of awareness nothing bad can happen to that person.

Did you ever read Linji Yixuan? This guy resonates with me somehow.
Thankyou!
What about the eastern teaching that reflect on the fact that the thought of there even being a birth or a death?
Audio level was super low 👂
Do u think guys that sometimes extreme is moderation? Like in the times that we live on right now
@mark twain hey, like now if we don't take out health seriously we could die from simple things, that wasn't the case a long time ago, and why is that? Because now we are bombarded with toxins from every side, air, food, water, clothes, frequency, emotions, I mean every way possible just to weaken us and make us easy to control.
Humans are animals. I don't understand why all religions belittle non-human animals and talk like no other species have self-control.
what about how conflict and violence is in our nature, maybe not all things that are natural are automatically good, love daoism, but nature has its limits, maybe there are parts of our nature that we need to overcome, like how we can't not believe in something, we have too understand that we have to embrace our empathy over our desire for control and the hierarchies we build in testament too this, our seeking of pedestals is natural but it's a very negative part of our nature, so nature is beautiful but conflict is part of nature and thus nature is also ugly.

It's not a measure of good health being well adapted into a profoundly sick culture 🧫
Jiddhu Krishnamurti
what if you hit your head and have the sexual desire center cross with something comical?
is it still "natural"?
Incels will be thrilled to know this
I blame hustle culture for this.
Let’s define natural inclination and unnatural inclinations. Not all desires are natural nor all inclinations ok to indulge in.
Spot on wrong belief as one has not transcend his or her ego.
👌🙏
Say that again?
St Paul was asexual
A nun monk I once met said she feels its natural and that people can engage in it, but for her.. she finds it quite a contracted experience and the pleasure seemingly comes and goes. So she's almost forgotten about sex, Quite a lot of aspirants naturally turn away from it after a while, I've heard that also happening. Just the love and bliss of 'god' is more than enough and is ever expanding and of course never says no lol
