In USA ... residential wall thickness is 8" concrete brick ... so for a 20 ft span ... the depth of the BEAM is 20" ( 1" for every 1 ft of span ); 2 x #5 crank bars should be installed at L1 and L3 with 1 ft 90 deg corners with stirrups 4" (8mm, 135 deg 3") The support COLUMN will be 8" x 20" ( 8 #5 rebars; 8mm steel hoops L/3 .... L1= 4" spacing; L2 = 6" spacing; L3 = 4" spacing) etc etc
as I understand it, the beam is counted together with the thickness of the floor slab. In Poland, the beams are rather tall than wide, high / wide approx. H / B = 2
Hello there One of my friends added 3 (16 mm) bottom ) and 3 (16mm) rods on the top moreover, he put two extra support as you mentioned. The length of the span is 14’ and the beam size is 12” by 12” and the column size is also 12 by 12” and he added 8 rods of 16mm. My question is, how many story he might build up in that case. Please explain
Why if 3 storey we need to add additions rebars in the mid section of the beam? Wouldn't the beam be only calculated based on the carry load of the slab or what ever is on top of the beam that is transferring the loan. I can understand if it was a column for 3 stories we add additional rebars at the ground floor due to total transfer load from 1st + 2nd floor. Looking forward to your reply. Many thanks.
Sir the beam depth should be calculated by L/10 or L/12 . Where L is distance between two columns. So as per that the beam depth should be 22 inches or 2 feet depth for 20 feet span RCC slab. But here u said the depth should be 14 inch. I think u R misleading us. 😨😨😨
After watching yr 25ft beam width video I was sceptical about what could be the size of my 18x17ft beam . Now I'm clear. Fortunately I used 14x14 for the beam size. I hope that will hold it eternally.
Hello, I would like to ask you for recommendation. Beam above the garage door (the garage has only the ground floor)....span = 17ft. Stirrup 6mm every 250mm. Beam size will be 12"x 20" ... Rod diameter = 2x 12mm above, 2x 18mm below. Is is enough? There are no crank bars. Should I add some? For example 2x 12mm...? Best regards

Thank u sir, please if u have an industrial steel shed of 36m x 100m. Using steel columns of 250 x 250 x 72kg/m. What would be the beam or rafters size to use. Please and estimated value if possible. Thank you

Great job brother

How should u calculate the depth and width of beam?
Thank you so much
Hi, thanks for the video. I wonder if the beam size would satisfy deflection criteria. 20" deep is a safe suggestion
