There is no real help for this man. His liver is ruined due to cirrhosis. He may get a TIPPS procedure, which could help, or a permanent catheter. But there is no cure, and nothing will stop the fluid accumulation.
I had this issue and gained 72 pounds of fluids did this procedure 5 times before my Liver transplant on 2/2/24. I feel better and hope nobody goes through it. I wasn’t a drinker by the way. I admitted to Inova’s ER last week of December 2023. I was transferred to George Town Hospital and I got in to transplant list last week of January and after 5 days I had my transplant, God blessed the person who I got his liver. I’m Muslim and pray for him day with Gods help he gave me a second chance. The hospital’s bill came to $495,000 and my monthly medication around $4000 thanks to my health insurance I paid $12,000. God is great!🙏
My husband had this same thing. We had to drive 300 miles round trip to Vancouver everyb8 days or so. Sometimes they would drain 6 litres or once 13 litres. He eventually passed away almost 3 years ago. He was miserable. They had treated him earlier for heart failure, but only at the end did they start treating him for the liver issues. Bless this man.
My brother went thru this with congestive heart failure due to liver damage from not taking diabetes meds for 5 years. He was in dialysis for 10 years before passing away August 10 2018. Glad mom & dad are gone they would have lost it . As big sis tried to tell him take care of himself was local trucker but never took care of himself no exercise no doctor visits worked 7 days a week and sleep 3 hours a day. I told him we have every disease on the planet as we inherited all of them but he didn't listen. I manage my diabetes eye care doctor visits and exercise no smoke no drink. I'm the only one left of immediate family but I'm not going out like that . I'm 66 this year and look 44. Got to take care of yourself 💯 doctors there for help if u have conditions u need help on. My ❤️ goes out to u and your precious hubby. Take good care of yourself! Much love
They started treating my bonus dad for ancient orange. Then found out he had COPD and epilepsy. Then after that, he started throwing up blood and that's when they caught the liver damage. I still believe in my heart that he died of congestive heart failure. What he went through was mind-blowing.
This poor guy. Thank God he has a wonderful doc like you. I work in a hospital and never see the docs spend the time and help the patinet's up in bed or get their vitals. We need more doctors like you.
You have a new best friend Dr. Oller. It was so sweet to see you two talking like buddies. I'll say a few prayers for your patient. He seems like a really nice man.
To the patient, thank you for letting this doctor record the procedure and talk to you. As a SWVA resident and future MD, this is what makes people strive in the medical field. Prayers and gratitude.
Strive my arse - the medical field is full of corruption, the industry caters to big pharmaceuticals that fill their pockets, it's never been about what's best for patients - we are in 2023, and shockingly we cannot cure or properly treat conditions that bring people to this stage - instead, it's filling patients with poison, dangerous drugs or making them comfortable and telling them they do not have much long. We should have by now, had cures for cancer, diabetes and many other conditions. This is not quality of life, when you have that much ascites it's VERY bad, and death is around the corner. Personally, I would rather DIE before going through this. Medicine has a VERY long way to "strive" - Take cancer for example, is it the cancer killing patients, or the poisons called chemo, think about it, it's more lucrative to push patients with chemo and other poisons that they are than cure cancer, and no proper treatment for obesity other than telling patients to go on a diet (this never works), eat less (this never works), etc, You will find out soon enough when working in a hospital, you will be compelled to do what's best for the hospital $$$$$, even if now you have the best of intentions - - in the end it's all about numbers. Do you know how many patients get treatments they could do without ? Or procedures they don't need ? There are many deadbeats in the profession and sometimes those are the ones you least expect like big specialists, those who practice medicine and teach, I won't name names. but a few years down the line as an attending you will figure it out. Not ALL doctors are bad, but there are lots of bad ones, and often a large portion of patients never complain so they go unfound. The first thing I said in the minutes of watching this video, it is NAFLD that led through this, it's a shame that doctors are good at treating but not at preventing or the industry in general not having proper cures other than maiming, transplants, which you would be super lucky to get, only buys time.
Hats off to you Doc, in today's world far too often doctors provide care based on what insurance or hospital policy tells them and they neglect the needs of the patient. You putting the patient first and finding ways to accommodate him and help him through this tough medical time is really a testament to you and shows great compassion. Well done!
All I can do is support the guy and talk to him about the situation and I understand him because I was in his shoes don't judge people unless you were in their shoes

this patient is so responsible. he did something about the fluid, called ahead and isn't panicked. I hope you feel better and can get a longer term solution in place. you should get checked for cushings.
I've been getting paracentesis off and on for about 15 years now and they usually get 8 bottles filled, I think that's 16 liters. I'm only 5'2". It's a very uncomfortable and often painful condition to have. I am so used to the procedures and actually look forward to them because they provide so much relief.
@@ravigyanadda9434 I don't know all of the conditions that can cause this. In my case the doctors initially thought that I had ovarian cancer because my ovaries are enlarged. They did exploratory surgery and saw no cancer but took a liver biopsy and diagnosed cirrhosis, scaring of the liver, which can be caused by various factors. Since my liver is damaged it can't process all of the fluid that I ingest so the fluid goes wherever it can. My retained fluid is in my abdomen primarily and also my legs, feet and ankles. It really inhibits my mobility. Once the fluid came out through my legs which I think is called weeping. It was awful.
bro that last part nearly made me cry, he was so thankful. doctors like you mean so much to these people and their families. you’re doing amazing work king!!

Praying for you and for a speedy resolution to this problem. I hope the TIPS procedure (I have to admit I dont know what that is lol) is a success and you won't need a liver transplant. Thank you for being so brave and open about your condition. And thank you to Dr Oller (?) For your amazing care, bedside manner, concern, and overall kindness as a doctor; not many doctors would spend this kind of time caring for a patient so hats off to you kind sir!
That's so true the doctor who work on my brother was so mean to him before he died told him not to come back just go home and wait on death he cry until he died so mean to my brother. Thank for the doctor working with him..🙏
The tips procedure as I know it is done this way: you have 1 person doing ultrasound, and 1 radiologist handling the catheters. You go through the jugular vein, though the superior vena cava, through heart into the liver vein with a catheter. That’s the place where you need the ultrasound. You can see the portal vein and the catheter in the liver vein. Then you poke a „hole“ between the two to form a shunt. As far as I am informed it takes about 30 minutes or so. The blood from the portal vein doesn’t need to go through the liver anymore, so the high pressure that causes sacktest gets relieved.
At this stage he needs the transplant they do this to relieve his stomach until he gets a liver but till then they keep doing it, they done this lots of times to my husband until he had a donor it’s so hard to see a person suffer so much pain🙏🙏
Thank God you are willing to be a TRUE DOCTOR. A Doctor who does what's BEST for his patients regardless of what others think. THIS IS NOT HIS FAULT AND TO MAKE HIM SUFFER BECAUSE IT"S """""ONLY""""" BEEN A WEEK OR TWO IS DISGUSTING. I hope he gets all the help he needs.
My dad's been doing this every 2 weeks for more than a year now. He removes between 4 and 12 litres each time. The relief is immediate and much welcomed. I am surprised it is possible to fill up such high quantities like 20 litres. Also, in my dad's case, the fluid build up also affected his legs causing problems with circulation and slowly he lost all his strength so much so that he could barely stand up let alone walk (not to mention the wounds that would pop up and take weeks to close). Being over 80 he's no longer a candidate for a transplant so this is the only treatment he has available until something gives. However (and I am sure there are plenty that can relate) after more than a year of this, the biggest issue is not the treatments but the piling up of toxic substances in the brain because the liver and kidneys no longer do their filtering jobs properly. Bottom line, I got to see my dad lose his mind day after day and I'll be honest with you, I will consider you 'lucky' if the disease takes your loved one before that happens because then you're just left with a sick body that needs tons of care but the person is already gone.
So sad! I wouldn’t wish that on anyone! My stepdad got sepsis last year and he had fluid on his lungs and it was constant gasping for breath. Luckily, they figured out the sepsis had eaten away his heart valve. They had been discussing doing a DNR on him- just the day before! He’s almost back to his old self a year later. But! It was a lot of work to get him here. I can’t imagine what you and your dad must have went through!
I know sorry won’t fix anything, but I truly do feel for you. I have a father whose been sick since the day I was born, and it feels like I never truly got to meet my dad. I can’t imagine how it feels to watch the process with your own eyes, I wish you and the entire family the best and good health this year, you’re so so strong.

Unfortunately the resolution is dranage over and over again until death. This is an end stange thing. Prognosis is usually between 20 and 58 weeks till death.
@@WaltrautHartmann Probably, he has severe cirrhosis. This is scarring of the liver. It increases the pressure in the portal venous system (which drains the intestines). The pressure drives fluid out of the blood into the peritoneum. That is the fluid being drained.

I completely understand what you are going through. I was diagnosed with NASH in 2016. My Ascites was terrible the last part of 2019 and early 2020. I started having to be drained every month, but it steadily progressed to where I had to go three times a week for a Paracentesis towards the end. They were draining off up to 12 liters at a time. I received a Full Liver transplant in March of 2020, haven't had Ascites since. Hang in there. If you do get a TIPS done you have to watch for HE (Hepatic Encephalopathy) really closely. That's where you have a buildup of Ammonia in your blood because the TIPS causes a lot of your blood to bypass your liver. That stuff can really mess you up bad. Confusion, blackouts, even coma.

There is no real help for this man. His liver is ruined due to cirrhosis. He may get a TIPPS procedure, which could help, or a permanent catheter. But there is no cure, and nothing will stop the fluid accumulation.

I'm so sorry hear that
My brother went thru this with congestive heart failure due to liver damage from not taking diabetes meds for 5 years.
You stayed by him up to the end. God bless you, Barb. 🙏🏼 You’re an Angel on earth.
Mr. X thanks for sharing your story. I'm glad you found docs that care and listen. Wishing you health and wellness in the future. Good luck! 😊
To the patient, thank you for letting this doctor record the procedure and talk to you. As a SWVA resident and future MD, this is what makes people strive in the medical field. Prayers and gratitude.
You are welcome. I am a former firefighter/emt so I like helping
The first thing I said in the minutes of watching this video, it is NAFLD that led through this, it's a shame that doctors are good at treating but not at preventing or the industry in general not having proper cures other than maiming, transplants, which you would be super lucky to get, only buys time.
how are you doing there guy? i saw you are subscribed to masshole troll channel too hahaha nice@@MrGlock509

@@mrs.jlawrence2016 I’m so sorry for your experience. X
This poor man.he is such a positive person despite his pain and his condition.thank u for sharing.i will b praying for u
You seem very passionate about this
My dad's been doing this every 2 weeks for more than a year now.
I hope your dad and family find Peace. It is sad what people have to do to stay alive.

@@Lilmiket1000 Why does he have so much fluid in his stomach?
@@WaltrautHartmann his liver is not working correctly

I’m 30 and also suffer from cirrhosis. My case is also non alcoholic. I’ve had to have a couple of these procedures and also take lasix and aldactone. I’m waiting on a transplant. Best of luck to your patient and anyone else suffering from liver failure.

Well despite all your troubles you keep your head up and stay positive 💗 praying you get the help you need and thank god you found this doc he is such a caring person 💗
I cannot imagine how you feel with so much fluid! I had 20 lbs when I had blood clots in my lungs…it felt like I wasn’t going to make it. Stay strong and I hope to see a new video of you feeling much, much better!
This is why you shouldn't judge, you never know what someones going through. Someone might just be "why did you let yourself get so fat" when in fact it's a condition that can't be controlled no matter what they do, that is why I don't judge before I find out the situation.
I watched the first video of the liquid extraction and was amazed to see that much. You have surpassed yourself, another 1 litre past the record. Seriously I do hope you get your situation under control and that you get the help you need. Best wishes for the future from England.
Where does all this fluid come from before filling his abdomen? I have congestive heart failure and was given diuretics through a vein... and dropped 8 or 9 liters of fluid thru a catheter. I feel so sorry for this man here, but also so happy he is in good hands. 🙏🙏🙏
Where is this patient’s RUclips link for us to send him well wishes? I hope he is doing well now and received the TIPS procedure he had been waiting for!
