    there are so many americans who don't know that this style of jazz is specifically new orleans, but every single non-us reaction i've watched so far has been like "wow, new orleans!"
    we're in such an education vacuum over here

      Wow! That's so interesting to hear! I studied music in high school and New Orleans Jazz was one of my favourites to study and listen to! I hope everyone gets the chance to listen and learn more about this style of Jazz!! 😄 x

    This Eurydice is downright my fav one, just absolutely gorgeous vocals. "Here she is" the only appropriate reaction to Amber Grey's Persephone. You completely jamming it out to 'livin' it up on top' is ALSO the only appropriate reaction to that song. Actually wait no, this entire musical is a jam out session *but* this song has like a special place "on top" of the list kek. During Way down hadestown you say "Oh the Fates!" and I go "oh just you wait~"
    you say "hades' voice gave me chills, it was so so low" and *I* go "oHOHO Just you wait for the ASMR song *wheezes*"
    That was a great reaction, thank you. I've been craving more people finding and reacting to this musical since I found it like a month ago BHJDFBHJGF been obsessed with it since XD!

      Thank you!!! Hadestown definitely has become one of my favourites and I'm in the same boat as you! More people definitely need to find this musical and listen to it!! "Wait for Me" will never leave my soul now!! 😄

    I'm a simple man. I see a hadestown reaction, I give it a like. I see someone making a "Don't come on too strong" reference, I subscribe.
    If I may make a suggestion? I think you might like the live concept album for "Chant II". It gives Amber Grey some lines that she absolutely nailed. And more Amber Grey is the best.

    • @CathlynRoseMcKellar
      @CathlynRoseMcKellar  3 года назад +7

      Haha! I'm glad you enjoyed the reference! Thanks for the suggestion! I looked it up and you're right! Amber nails her verse in Chant II in the live version! Makes me sad that they didn't add it to the final version cause she sang it so beautifully but that's theatre! And yes, more Amber Gray is the best! 😄

    The first "come home with me" got a good laugh from the audience when I saw the show, partly cos of the abruptness of the line, partly cos of Hermes' reaction of "awh dude, you serious?!"

    Video: *skips from Wait for Me past most of Act II, including Flowers and Epic III*
    Me: NUUUUUUUUUU but - nuuuuuuu...
    On the plus side, though, was fun to follow you through Act I and the last songs of Act II. :) Fully agreed on adoration of Eurydice's voice and the Fates' harmonies.

      Sorry about that! Hadestown is a massive soundtrack and it got so difficult while editing picking out what to keep in! I was mostly in a trance through Act II because it was all so beautiful and mesmerising so there wasn't a lot of reaction except staring! haha! But know that I absolutely love the soundtrack and just cause I didn't add in a lot of Act II doesn't mean I didn't love it! ☺

      @@CathlynRoseMcKellar It's the oddest thing. For me, the beginning & middle of Act II, with a few exceptions, were much less gripping than the rest of the musical, so I wasn't that shocked when you swept over those bits XD
      I hate saying it because it's a great message of workers uniting (and I LOVE 'Flowers' so much, and the finished 'Epic' is lovely), but... idk, while it's nice and it's beautiful and all that, it just didn't hit me as viscerally as the rest.
      It makes me wonder if the creator had the idea for this story, and came up with super compelling moments for most of it, but just got stuck on those parts (but still had to finish the musical anyway despite not having a Eureka! bit of inspiration for those songs).

    Please react to the soundtrack of "Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812" 🙏
    *from wikipedia:
    Malloy's original score (orchestrated by the composer) merges Russian folk and classical music with indie rock and EDM influences. The piece is described by the composer as an "electropop opera".

      Sure! I'll let you know when it gets uploaded! The description you put definitely has me intrigued! I don't think I've ever listened to "electropop opera" so I'm definitely interested in what the soundtrack is like! :D

    It is NOT called a 'soundtrack' those are for films. It is a CAST RECORDING (as it says on the cover)

    You’ve never listened to the Hadestown “soundtrack” and neither has anyone else because there’s no such thing and there won’t be until they make a film version. What you’re listening to is the Original Broadway Cast Recording and it says so right on the CD packaging. Nowhere does it say anything about a soundtrack. That’s because a soundtrack is an inherently cinematic thing. It’s the recorded sound from a movie. A live stage show doesn’t have or need a “soundtrack” because all the music is performed LIVE! Get it? BTW, I saw Hadestown in late February of ‘20 just before everything shut down. It just may be the best thing I’ve ever seen. I listen to this CAST RECORDING all the time!

    • @CathlynRoseMcKellar
      @CathlynRoseMcKellar  2 года назад

      Hi Randy! Thank you for commenting on one of my older videos! When this first got uploaded someone did point out to me that this is a cast recording and not a soundtrack. At the time I filmed this, I was confused between what the difference was between a soundtrack and cast recording and my initial reaction was to call it a soundtrack. Once the difference was pointed out to me, I was careful with my future reactions to mention if they were soundtracks or cast recordings. Thank you for once again pointing out the difference to me as I always welcome feedback that helps better my knowledge of musical theatre!

      @@CathlynRoseMcKellar Thanks! I’m glad you got the terminology correct. I don’t mean to jump on you and I apologize if it seemed that’s what I was doing. It’s just a pet peeve and so many make that mistake. Anyway, Hadestown is beyond just a musical. It is truly a work of art. So glad you love it too.
