Miriam and I are twins. I love that she didn't want to be on camera when she thought she wasn't beautiful even though she was. very similar to me. I don't know if she realizes we could see her clearly in the mirror behind you lol. another super great video. I am really proud of both of you. You have done an amazing thing for the Can-Am community
If you are going to be this unpredictable regarding upload times then I just guess I will have to stay up later or get up earlier, because it’s all about me. 😉. Hard to believe this is Episode 8. Gotta love the SW portion is dry for the cooling vests to work. In 1961 we pulled into Needles at midnight and spent the night after visiting relatives in Indiana. There were newspapers on the floor, allegedly to alert you to scorpions on the floor. I was all of 6 years of age. Glad you’re motel didn’t have that issue. I spent a lot of time in Tehachapi when I used to live in Bakersfield. Can’t wait for next week’s as you are in my stomping grounds.
We suffering from time zone confusion! Sorry about that. Tehachapi was a charming town. A great introduction to the "good stuff" to come. We loved California!
Another great video! I felt the emotion when you said that soon you would reach the shoreline. Can't wait for this, the final leg of half your epic journey. Love your Asphalt Odyssey, Safe riding
my husband did a trip from Los Angeles to Louisiana and on the way back was rerouted back through Vegas and reached temperatures of 127 F and his spyder handled better then he did cause he didn't get a cooling vest.
Wore my cooling vest for the first time in years going to Springfield, Missouri. A real lifesaver.!! Drank more water to stay hydrated. Stay healthy- looking forward to the next episode. 👍👍🥵🥵🙋♂️
I’ve been a subscriber for a while now. I can’t justify the expense of a vehicle that I can’t drive 365 a year. Yet. But I’m working on it. I really like the rt touring models. Until then, I’ll keep living through y’all. Be safe and enjoy life.
Yes - it does get hot out there! I lived in Southern California and then Vegas for a total of 23 years. There is usually a cut-off to where someone simply doesn’t do much outside. I never played golf in more than a 100 degree weather. Seems high, but you do get used to it. Always drink a lot of water! Even if you’re not thirsty. Enjoying your videos. 👍👏🙏🏻
Congratulations. I did a ride from Los Angeles to Raton, NM about 4 weeks ago. It was 106 when we hit Needles for lunch. A friend of mine who lived in Barstow growing up once told me to be careful stepping into the shade in that part of the country. It can e already occupied by creatures that slither or crawl. Have a greata rest of the trip
morning. wow yall are getting along very well. whe collecting rocks and such, remember Ricky and Lucy's adventure in the long long long trailer. Just saying. I love watching yall. California good for ya. I have no idea where you are at the moment but I don't feel that it'll be just 2 months and John says well duhhh. Have a fun day we'll hope to see you sometime in the future. later.
I’m enjoying your videos of your ‘Lap Around America.’ My wife and I do a 2-4+ week motorcycle ride every summer, for the last 8 years on a BMW K1600GTL, and in prior years on two different BMW K1200LT (In 2013 we road on a 2010 BMW K1200LT from SoCal to South Carolina, then up the eastern seaboard to Massachusetts then back to SoCal over 5 weeks), and now we ride a 2021 Can Am RT Limited. We’ve ridden I-15, I-10, I-40 in the summer and have also found the cooling vest to be very useful as long as the humidity is not high. We prefer to leave no later than 4:00 a.m. when crossing the desert (we live in SoCal, so crossing a desert is a necessity if we’re traveling East). Everyone who rides a motorcycle should do at least one trip across the U.S. It’s an incredible ride, and experience. The scenery is spectacular. Enjoy the rest of your ride and stay safe.
Mirror vibration is an issue on the spyder not sure ifcthe new ones still have that issue. Glad you got it fixed. Great video looking for the final destination the California coast. That will be a memorable day. ✨️
Great video. I see you got mirror clips. Why not the manic mirrors. The magnets work great and no vibration. Travel safe. Ready to see the pacific. Enjoy!
Wow! I keep thinking about that piece of Route 55 asphalt, how interesting is that to take back home! Oh yeah, put that on the on the coffee table for a conversation piece for post trip years. I'd say the ole Spyder is holding up quite well. What would you guess your mpg is with two up, loaded and pulling a trailer. Gotta hand it to Miriam, she is a trooper. I think Millie and I are a bit long in the tooth to attempt such a journey, but we enjoy yours.
So happy to see your latest video. We are in FL visiting the community where we are going to build and yet I was still waiting for the opportunity to see your latest update. I wasn't able to watch until we went to my mother in law's home but she doesn't know we have a Spyder. 🤫 Even though we are working on our next adventure I am so jealous of yours! A commercial about a cruise came on the TV. My wife does not like cruising based on our previous experience. I asked her "choice, cruise or a trip like J&M?" She said Spyder trip if John was planning it! Safe travels!
Hey John & Mariam enjoyed the video. Glad to see you made it to California. Enjoying traveling along with you by video. Ryde safe and God Bless Artie & Tracy
Hi people I envy yous something I've always wanted to do I can't now recovering from double lungcanser my wife and I had Yamaha venture roale and took some great trips we lived in Wilmington nc so thank you taking me and my misses along for the ride god bless and keep you both safe
Amazing trip so far that brought back my TN to California trip in 2005. I stayed overnight in Seligman (locals pronounce it "slig-man") and pushed on, being encouraged to go through Oatman where the burros are everywhere. Before Needles, I went through an amazing stretch that would have become the background for a photo but the camera battery was dead! Oh mercy me, do I need to go back? Safe travels, my friends.
Congrats to you both glad you made it safe and healthy God Bless and God Speed… btw I am now a proud Spyder owner just bought a 2015 Spyder RTS Special Series w 3665 miles only on it and thanks to both of you for being inspiring and also thanks to all the members in SpyderLovers Forum as well - see ya maybe on road my new adventure begins as I learn the fun of Spydering - L8inLiferider Btw what is title of last song lyrics or I guess your intro music ? Get Gone ? Thanks
Your now in the area where I grew up and you just passed by my home in AZ when you went through Seligman AZ. I live between Ashfork and Seligman off of old 66. I am considering buying a ryker and wonder if it could handle a trip like that. Take care and safe travels.
Peek-A-Boo to Miriam! I saw you in the mirror over John's right shoulder in the motel room! But your image was small and I couldn't see the "helmet hairdo". And to John, I have noticed that my rating of food on the road goes up as my hunger level increases! Was that California Bar-B-Que really that good? Another great video! Happy Trails!
The scenery is absolutely stunning! What a journey! Congratulations on making it to California! I also bought those can-am mesh gloves and they are great. And you are so right Miriam in your appreciation comment after seeing that horrible crash. John, I just don't know how I could ride without my cooling vest; other riders give me a strange look in high 80's-low 90's heat when I put it on, but it provides not only comfort but safety as well. Cheers to both of you!
I just received my cooling vest in the mail today. Coincidentally today I signed the purchase contract for an RT Limited. Now just have to wait for the missing part! Great video and epic adventure!!!
Did you see Spike, Snoopy's brother in Needles? I am glad the cooling vest is working well. I got one for my birthday after watching your earlier video. I haven't tried it out yet. Y'all be very careful and safe. We are having days between 78 - 98 degrees in Yorktown VA. Still enjoying your videos.
Are going to try some of the coast highway (101)? Absolutely beautiful coastal ride. I've taken it from San Francisco to LA when I had my 68 Mustang GT. Took two days though. Some parts of the highway may now be closed due to storm damage.
Congratulations you seem like you're having a good time staying out of the heat. How often do you stop for gas every 150 miles. I have a 2021 RT limited spider ever time I fill up all I put in 5 gal .I rode it till all the bars disappeared 5 gal. I get 168 to. 176 but I only have 600 miles on. Do you have a drop in miles pulling a trailer. Have a safe trip 💗 love you guys.
We stop on average every hour. On this trip, when out west we gas every half tank. I have not tracked millage in some time, but on this trip we are at 37 on average.
Is there anything special making long runs on the Spyder? I just did a 340 mile ride today and I am in a lot of pain in my legs and backside. I'd like to be able to make some long runs but I can't if I'm going to be this much pain
i always wore bell cycling gloves when riding 100% more comfy than the ''leather'' gloves dealer ships would offer. i can't wait to get back in the wind it's been far to long.

Just signed the contract for my RT Limited today. You two are inspirational! Thank you for the awesome footage! Be safe and have fun!

Great trip and so glad the cooling vests are helping. I’ll have to try one of those soon.

A permanent fix for your mirrors is to switch the mounts over to the magic mirror system. I did and I really love the magnet system.

Quick question, what cooling vests do you use?? Thx guys! Love the adventure you are sharing
Fly is the brand name. You can find them on Amazon or revzilla.
I’ve never been much west of Tuson, -and never had a desire to go to California ..
It does make a great finish line

Is there anything special making long runs on the Spyder? I just did a 340 mile ride today and I am in a lot of pain in my legs and backside. I'd like to be able to make some long runs but I can't if I'm going to be this much pain

Needles. Most expensive gas in USA.
Actually Gorda, California on the coastal highway had Needles beat!
