Thanks for the video. It helped me disassemble a Muratec copier that is on the fritz. There's not much I can do to fix it, but at least I was able to check it for mechanical malfunction of the scanner light transport. I think power surge killed it. Dang nice copier before power company worked on lines, and I didn't have a surge protector. Tip: Surge protectors are good on copiers.

The old Rank Xerox copiers were actual 'photo' copiers, they had a camera, My dad worked in a warehouse where they stripped recyclable parts to send back to xerox, unfortunately they removed the cameras before sending them to the warehouse.
The top glass was curved, and there was a mirror, i still have a few lens assemblies, and one mirror

The analog units could indeed do reduce/enlarge; they would actually move the optics closer or further from the page. Some older IBM copiers could duplex; i think the glass was large enough to fit 2 pages side by side, and it would scan one, flip the printed page internally, and scan the other direct to paper. If you started with a duplex page already, that was simple: It was all analog already, so you'd copy 1 side to 1 piece of paper, the second side to another, and place both side by side! Magic!

It's not actually CCFL, the lamp is capacitively coupled via 2 foil strips.
I don't know the name of that lamp type.
That lamp is worthy a closer look.

oww, I always thought the foil was just a reflector. I will take a closer look, along with the CCD

Induction Fluorescent Lighting or Electrodless Lighting.

That LCD would probably work nicely with a RaspberryPi... :D
hehe, "pyeoing", gotta love the sounds things make when plucked... :P
Gotta love lasers, 'cept when idiots fire them at police or air ambulance helicopters, shame they don't have high-powered lasers themselves to fire back at them to burn the culprits... :P

If the guy does not get back to you on the motors and driver I would be quite interested as I have a project in my head to make one of the Scuzers from Red Dwarf. Not planing to build it any time soon but I have started to gather useful parts. Would need to know postage to the UK so might not need all the motors to save on cost.

I will keep you in mind, already gave 2 others in line before you, but there will be more motors.

That motor at 1:06 with 3 wires could be a sensorless 3 phase BLDC motor. Lots of control-ability no cogging, high speed and a lot more power output than a stepper motor of similar size. If the motor is 24v its output could be greater than 50Watts.

Some 3D printers use the exact same type of stepper motor to those

How about tig'ing the wire on end, and then try it on the weed trimmer ?

I used to go to IT auctions and they would have a whole warehouse wall long of these. Of course nobody wanted them. There was a guy who would always take about 5-10 of them each fortnight in his truck. I was like WTF mate, no way you can resell those. Turns out he was scrapping them for parts: selling the laser diodes on eBay, scrapping all the wire and metals inside to a nearby metal recycler, but most of all was selling the high power stepper motors to electronics/robotics guys on relevants forums and ebays. He reckons a large size photocopier could yield $100-300 in these parts and was only paying about $5 per unit at the auction.

Absolutely, same deal here, they are worth next to nothing, and scrapping them is lucrative business if you have the space and time!

I am still interested in the stepper motors, I can only imagine the shipping costs would make me not want them, I am in Ontario so if you could work your magic and see how much it would cost, that'd be great.

I can find out soon, I remember you were the first one asking about them, so you get priority. send me a PM with your city and post code so i can get Aus post to work it out.

I would like some stepper motors. I'm making a CNC machine. It would be real helpful.
