Levi changed their 513 fit. I'm looking at 3 pairs of 513 I bought years ago and 1 pair I just purchased. The area below the knee Is much looser than It used to be.
That’s the exact thing I realize I bought a pair and it looks baggy. It should be the regular look in other brands. They messed the jeans. The 514 also looks baggier than it should be.
Yep,u hit the target on that one, i've been using 513 since 2008 and they were slim straight but with a balanced rise,great feel not too much space between crouch and waist,1 year ago bought 3 new ones and wow they felt like a baggy jean, man,there was a lot of difference on the crouch area,probably 1" to "1 1/2" inches difference way too loose and hangy...had to sale em, almost half the price of original price ...Now i wear 511, which fits,sits way much better. Hope this can help.

I saw reviews where people were saying you basically need to buy 2 sizes bigger, because they'll shrink 2 sizes in the wash now, you have any idea about that? Thanks for this comparison! I love both the 511 and 513. The 511 was my jeannof choice for decades. I call the 511 the young man's Jean and the 513 the jean for the hip old man. Or put another way, I'd wear the 511s to a party or concert, and I wear the 513 when I'm going someplace a little more fancy like a museum or....brunch.
I wear my boots with a 511 all the time but the shank of the boots is visible a 513 would be a better with boots without getting stupid big at the bottom. Frankly some cowboy cut jeans are just too damn close to bell bottoms
I'd suggest the 514 Levi's Jean's as they're typically for slim athletic builds if you need a bit more room in the thigh than the 511 and 513 Jean's offer you. You can also look into 512 Jean's if you like the fit of the 511 Jean's above the knee, but just want a taper below the knee if you want to show your shoes more. Hope that helps man.

I have a vid on the 511 vs 512 - 512 will definitely hug the leg near the ankle. Nice style though. 541 are the "athletic fit" but I found them to be a little baggier than I expected. Definitely need muscular legs.

Jeans are NOT "workwear". Dickies ARE workwear. Levi's jeans are 99% cotton, and therefore biodegradable, thus the decomposition process starts rapidly. Easy to comprehend, is it not ? Jeans are worn as a fashion statement, and a product of the "groupthink" mentality. The "744 Tough Guys" will go out, and ultimately spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars for an inferior product.

513 is stretchable. The textile comprises of mostly cotton and a little elastane.
On Levi's website 511 seats on the waist. Is there any different version of 511?
I believe 511's originally started as skinny jeans.

Ironically, wider fits are in fashion now. So the 513 fits more of this aesthetic for the young and trendy.

I would say yes. If not, probably go with the 517 or 527 (I prefer 527).
