@markcossman200 I played in Columbus but would often see him when I'd go to Dayton in the mid-late 90s. Think I seen him in Springfield once or twice also.
If the tournament had been played on gold crown tables he likely would have been in the finals or would have won it. He was in a league with Bugs Tony Fargo and Mark Jarvis and Truman
Gary was a great player, he didn't seem to be able to catch many good breaks, when he was playing his best bank pool game, they had 7 major bank tourneys, between 1973 and 1999. I watched him in a big tournament about 1999? I think it was at Starchers, he was sick and had jaundice I believe , he played several days , and wasn't feeling well, played a match and ran down to the emergency room, did whatever they do for that and he came back just in time to not get disqualified and had to play , he was still wearing the ER gown. I think he won that match then played Piggy Banks and Piggy never missed a ball. But you had to give Gary props , he was trying to get the most money he could to take home to his family. When he died his best friend Sherm Adamson ran an auction for his family, and he asked me if I could send something , I did and Garys wife sent me the nicest thank you letter I have ever received. It was really touching.
If they played very long on a gold crown he could give Efrem about 10 to 8 to be a fair game during the mid eighties. Gary never did play near as good on any diamond tables
Gary was a legend. Loved watching him play when he came to Akron. The pool scene in the 80s and 90s was awesome
Yeah, he was great.
Thanks for this upload. Huge fan of Gary! RIP
Please upload anything else you have with Gary in it. Thanks again
Just google Gary Spaeth. A lot of his matches will show up.
Wow what a treat. A little droopy dog action. Was such a nice guy
I used to play 9ball with/against Gary in Cincinnati back in the 80s & 90s RIP Gary!!

The best banker is behind them.....mr Donnie Anderson.....the real Cincinnati kid
Not really. The best at that time was Eddie Taylor. He's believed to be the best that ever lived. After watching a video, I believe that's true.
