You have to feel bad for his father who outlived him and his mother by many years, but still got to witness his career first hand from the time he was born to his last moments. Thanks so much for uploading these pieces, they are indeed treasures to behold
Glenn Gould was an amazing classical pianist. His artistry transcends ethereally. He was unique, so special. What loving parents and true friends. His unconditional love for animals lived in his soul. Thank you for this documentary. I'm looking forward to part 2. I have seen other documentaries on him. RIP 🙏❤️ 🙏❤️🌎🌿🕊🎶🎵🎶💫✨️
Amazing reflection of his ife. I first saw him in July 1963 at Bloor and Bedford in Toronto Annex area by U of T where he went for morning coffee,,,, a drug store cafe mix place... as he entered the place he had extended hands in front of him with his fingers wiggling as in the video...
I just watched a youtube vudeo of a homeless guy who makes a living playing a community piano litterally on the streets of Florida. He plays pop songs very eloquently, his last name is also Gould. I thought it was strangely ironic.
We see it now and then, e.g. opera singers, bee in their bonnet string players. But Music is beyond ego and it just doesn’t fit with the tenets of her grace. So of course Gould represented such as these. The best musicians would seem to have no pretensions in person.
So precious! Thank you for these! Is it possible to make subs for other documentaries such as the "On/Off the Record" and "Hereafter"? Sometimes it's hard to figure out what he's saying even when there are subs!
@@brucecross1164 Thanks so much. I must look into it directly. As well as that excellent film. The first book I know. Thanks also for the channel of substance and content. Hva a gd summer.

A supreme artist! each single note played by him has something special, a unique taste.
With him the keyboard spoke in vowels and consonants.
Fantastic historical piece.
WOW! He would look at a musical score and memorize it then play it!!! :) O.K...
Photographic memory rare.
A fascinating man, one of God’s finest creations! I would have loved to know him!
A great artist...thank you. I heard many concertos live.
I sat beside him on a bench in Toronto several years ago : I listen in wonder at his playing daily : thank you Glen Gould…

It’s wonderful. I’ve watched this segment 3 times before moving on because I was enjoying it so much!

As someone with poor circulation, I really *feel* that story about the scarf …
This is fantastic thanks!
I agree that this is better than anything that came after it..thanks for the the upload
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I recently found out that parts of 'Mean Girls' were filmed at Malvern Collegiate. At Glenn Gould's old secondary school, of all places! :o
Yes, Glenn Gould had a father, and he strikes me as a down to earth man.
Thank you for this!
Thank you!
Amazing Artist and Entity who interpeted Bach in an amazing way!!!
Tellement magique tellement magnifique ❤❤❤ Il est le plus Great des musiciens ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!!!
Amazing!
Fascinating his father’s account of an infant innately practising finger dexterity. Because that technique is still something astonishing.
Just proof of his past life as a gifted pianist.

The elephants lolol
It is hard to find a good audience!
i think the first piano he tried sounded to rounded, muffled, the second one was very clear, if not sharp edged
What's he playing around 30:15?
That is Weber's Konzertstücke with the Toronto Symphony.

Not exactly a balanced portrait...
its not a portrait, it s an exerpt, a fragment.
