I feel so fortunate to have heard him twice (once in recital, the other time with Bernstein), and I'm so grateful he made 80 recordings later in his all-too-short life, so we keep hearing him, also in interviews, his radio and TV programs.

This is the best Glenn interview I've heard. Who else asks questions like " do you ever sit down and play say, How high the moon in a jazz style?" . Most other interviewers are too pompous to ask such an interesting question, which the great pianist answered with great humility.

Postscript. In the meantime, since posting this comment 11 months ago, the great jazz pianist Chick Corea died, and in a recent interview, he cited Glenn (along with Art Tatum) as his favourite pianist -of all time. This is apropos of the comments Glenn made in the interview regarding his own relationship to jazz.

I’m a little surprised too. Believe he was a big fan of Bill Evans though.

Sad to hear Glenn talk about (conductors) "living a long time" . . . . . . Yes, he had a modicum of poseur "shtick" in his paint-box . . . but I have never found any interview of his to be anything less than UTTERLY FASCINATING!

This interview is great. It would have been wonderful to have seen the actual interview. How come it wasn't recorded? The humor of the participants is very sharp and entertaining.

How sad musicians were once criticized for playing Bach’s music with too much “exuberance”! Thank God that perception vanished with the help of Gould and several other musicians!

It's very touching to hear Glenn Gould talk about his art. But it's embarrassing to hear the journalist, at the end, push the pianist to tell him an anecdote that could create a buzz...Gould had so much to say about music rather than this gossip

This interview took place before the Brahms "scandal". Gould refers to a Bach concerto here, a "jazz" version, and I have never come across this recording. Boo.
