Original Description:
New location - New task...removing as many chipmunks as possible from this property. The land owner was frustrated with the damage done due to the rodents' swelling numbers. She wanted them gone, but did not want to use poison to do it. This video is educational - showing a fast and humane method of dispatching overpopulated chipmunks. Using an air rifle, as opposed to poisons, is better for the environment, human health, and causes far less pain to these animals. And while live-trapping and relocation is a sensible option for large animals, it simply is not effective for removing massive numbers of small animals.

An inhumane person wouldn't explain to us all of the bad things that chipmunks do to the land. Instead he would show the deaths in slow motion and laugh at how their brains exit their skull. He was there for business, this is what he does. He even went out and fed the bodies to the cats instead of just leaving it there. The chipmunks were in unwanted territory and he had to take them out. Most people use poison which is very painful for the chipmunk, or drown them which is a horrid experience for the chipmunk. He put them out instantly and you tell me that is inhumane? Maybe some people need to rethink their comments.

To all the uneducated and animal cruelty commenters here, chipmunks are considered pests, they create tunnels on your property and cause all kinds of damages. Most techniques used by pest control to get rid of them are either by poison and or drowning them. Relocation doesn’t work. A pellet gives this animal a humane and instant painless death. This is the least cruel way someone could possibly take. Educate yourselves and view things from different perspectives.

Most people in pest control would only take out the pests that they were paid to remove. It was the first video I'd seen of him and my initial thought was that he was someone who just liked to shoot stuff. By the end of the video, after the squirrel footage, it was apparent that he was a professional. I didn't mean any disrespect to anyone in pest control.

Why are all these people freaking out about this? Killing pests is sometimes necessary to protect your property and plants you may have. These pellets caused instant death, so it is not as if they suffered. Plus, overpopulation is an issue as well. If you just let the things multiply, they will eventually take up all of the resources and starve, which is a slow and painful death. Larger pests can destroy crops and end up slaughtering other endangered species.

I don’t get all the dislikes and hate comments here. He’s not a cruel or sick human being, in fact he’s doing the landowners and ecosystem a favor by doing this. Rodents like Chipmunks destroy gardens, chew through wiring causing power outages, viciously slaughter local birds or other critters, and having too much of them can cause a serious problem. 55 Chipmunks in a single yard is a large infestation and needs to be taken care of. To those suggesting him to just live trap them and release them elsewhere, all you are doing in that case is moving the problem for someone else to deal with rather than getting rid of it. He even said that a few chipmunks in the woods wouldn’t be an issue or warrant this kind of response, but rather it was the fact there were over 50 of them ripping up this person’s yard. And he didn’t let them suffer or let them go to waste either, he put them down instantly and fed them to farm cats. Just because it’s an animal that you think is “cute” doesn’t mean it’s any less of a pest or a serious problem.

The fact that he was able to shoot 58 in one afternoon just proves that there was in fact a localized infestation of these pests. Just because they're cute little buggers doesn't mean they aren't potentially a very destructive force on gardens and landscaping.

Long ago a friend of mine and I rented a house that had 3 apple trees in the backyard. It was made plain to us that we were responsible for those trees. Did the landowner know there was a ground hog or something like one, dug in at the base of one of them? Well, the middle tree started looking a little sickly, and I saw Mr. Rodent popping in and out, so one fine day I "turned him off" with my Feinwerkbau target air rifle. Took care of a few starlings that were taking over the bird feeder too.

Seriously though people these days would rather blindly sit on their high horses rather then face reality. Their minds are to fragile to understand how brutal nature really is. They seem to think animals all hug and share stories in the forest together. They cant comprehend that some animals have to be kept in check.

My dad and I do a good amount of squirrel hunting when the season is in, we normally take a .410 and a .22, however this season we are planning to take air rifles. The reason being the ammo would be easier to come by, it is a lot cheaper for ammo, and it is more silent. Would this be a good move to make or no?
Shane Fields yea ammunition gets more expensive every year so go for the air soft it's so annoying buying Ammunition every season just for it to get expensive

Shane Fields for squirrel, yes definitely you can get a fast air rifle even at Walmart that will do the job. ì use a Beeman that shoots 1800 fps with interchangeable barrels. one is your standard .177 cal round the other is .22 cal. it's a beast even goes through .25 inch slate at 30 yards or better, and when I say through I mean not Crack and or break the slate but puts a clean hole THROUGH the contact point even when using my .22 hollow point rounds. it is one pump break action. and yes available at...... you guessed it, WALMART. go for it, oh and it comes with a 30x40 scope and mounting hardware. buyer beware this thing has quite a bit of kick back for a single pump pneumatic air rifle be prepared on your first shot it will surprise you lmao

Nothing wrong with changing an opinion. Its called growth and you do not have to be young to do it.
Its a hard thing to see little cute animals getting killed and having some feeling towards that, is not a bad thing. That shows humanity.
However, the more you understand, the more you see that in the number they reproduce, they become a problem and that can include to your health.
I am from Australia and did not know that these animals can and do become a problem like rats and in all reality, this is the most humane way to cull them back to safe numbers.
They do it here with kangaroos. Because of the farming they have plenty of food so they breed.
Then when the season changes and the food is gone, there are too many and the natural supplies that they then have to depend on, gets drained and many starve to death.
Rather than that, they are culled to safe numbers where the land can support them.
Good on you for your growth and never stop doing it.

I have watched most of his educational/informative videos. He doesn't always shoot with sunglasses on. I do find it advantageous when shooting with sunglasses on to avoid glare. I sometimes use a technique that I deploy when I take photos as I am a professional photographer and that is wearing something over the camera (or scope or scope-cam in this case) and my head. It's fast, inexpensive and does the job quite well.

Tried to get them to fuck off and couldn’t use my gun to kill them
So I pretty much resorted to bug spray to kill them after chasing them down with my hatchet for months didn’t work
