@@consulentecomunicazionestr3072Serves me right!! I took guitar and drum lessons at a local music shop, and I got into Berklee with drumming as my principal instrument. I chose that because I completely suck on guitar. Well, when I got there to sign up for classes other students told me no one comes to Berklee to drum and that I should switch to guitar if I could. I did, and while I am glad I studied some guitar for a year, I still suck at guitar. I am thinking of going back to drumming if I can sort out some arthritic issues in my hands.
I'll tell you what.... I'm looking this dude up right now and next the Bass player. The whole thing is kind of hard to believe.

It's not "just scales" as someone is saying, it's the dance among pentatonic-diatonic-chromatic, the phrasing. Whoever loves Parker or Django or Coltrane or early Martino or Holdsworth etc. can easily relate to this style
I personally prefer some tasty and beautiful stuff, not a battle of using scales and boxes. Guess I don't like jazz , but I like jazz singers. I prefer Mateus Asato over Mancuso
While Matteo has played masterfully, and certainly this was a technical masterclass, the note choices here kind of left me scratching my head as none of it seemed to fit all too well which is weird because based on his Cherokee solo dude is masterful. I’ll chalk this up to just jitters from having so many judgmental eyes on you this being Namm
I used to be jealous and intimidated by this cat, but I grew up and now I’m inspired and motivated by him. What a great leader and example of how good we can be. At 72 my playing got energized by Matteo. Love to meet him and congratulate him. ✝️
And he's still a young guy! Imagine how his playing will progress over the decades!
I once had a stroke, and I was trying to relearn how to play the guitar. I took lessons from Kerry Mott who taught me jazz. I was struggling to get back good again so I was jealous, but the dude still taught me. He's a great guitarist millionaire who stays out of the lime light. He's a good dude. He can cover anyone. I've even seen him cover Frank Gambale and play just as well as him. I regained my skills to. I can play this. But , I'm a fan of this guy. He's remarkable.
@Nherdvous I grew up in the 60's and 70's. By the time I was 12 years old, I could play it all, but, I experienced a stroke when I was 17 years old, and I had to relearn how to play the guitar. It was a nightmare.

Watched them live two weeks ago at their first live in the US. These guys are unreal and so in sync. Wish them so much luck. Italian talents is not just Sanremo bullshit..

This is yet another example of how many levels of musicianship there are out there. Not to take any thing away from those musicians who achieved commercial success, but these guys are technically on a very high level!!!
Commercial success has less to do with musicianship and more to do with post production editing
Rock musicians are on average technically bland, stylistically as well. That's why the traver baker's are so popular
Jazz musicians are on average the opposite... Proficient and exciting to listen to

Bass player is killing it and flowing with the music, he plays his part without even thinking about it and is fully aware of what his band mates are playing.

What an absolute BLAST watching the interplay between these three and how much fun they're having together. It goes without saying how phenomenal Matteo's playing is, but the bass and drummer are both awesome in their own right. Great drum solo at the end...fun.

Show the Drummer love too. Towards the end he was playing off tempo yet still holding on to the beat by a thread at the same time. Amazing timing, and skill! Bravo!
Gianluca Pellerito had never played that particular kit before that day! (It was provided by the booth so drummers wouldn't have to schlep their kits around the NAMM booths.)
Riccardo Oliva is solid on bass as well. They all play so well together.

Every time I see and hear him play all i can do is smile. And I love the whole band, they're all great musicians. I keep saying it he is the best there is and likely the best there ever was. And it's not only me smiling, just look at the faces of people watching them.
