I'm sure you think you know Minecraft, but what if you didn't? What would the game feel like then? Meet Blanche and follow her through her journey of discovering the game you already know and love!
This is comparable to RetroGamingNow's video "Why Minecraft Is Secretly Impossible" except the approach is a lot more up-beat and the video itself resembling more of a story rather than hypotheticals.

@PJiggles for the editing
@TheGreatReview for the writing

Huge and massive thanks to Netti, @Sloimay and @GeniRCT.

I've been trying to answer every comment but I can't keep up anymore so here is a message for everyone leaving a message:
Thank you. Thank you so much for your comments, I am both so incredibly proud and happy to have a positive impact on so many of you. I read each and every comment and smile at the sight of every new one. I love reading about your experiences playing the game and watching this video, I love the attention to details a lot of you have, I love the innocence I can read, I just love it.
I will keep on reading every comment and will try to answer as many as I can. This all means so much to me and I couldn't be more grateful. Lots of love

Reminds me of PiroPito's blind playthrough of Minecraft. I noticed that he was on your inspiration list, which is so cool!
there is an italian streamer that never played minecraft and always snobbed it like "it's a child game", but some months ago made a live just for meme and from then he started taking it seriously by playing without reading the chat and being aways more as possible from the spoilers.
now he's continuing the series and is discovering everything little by little and it's amazing.
the community is so taken that has made a website so track the progress, for the recipies that he discovered, clips , quests and notes he've taken like it's a story.

This video kinda brought a tear to my eye. the storytelling is immaculate. This makes me realize that Minecraft is an experience I need to cherish, its something I only got to experience to the fullest once.
Glad I'm not the only sap here 😅
It makes me hapy to see that you get to realize that before beating the game that it is a one time experience i dident get that in minecraft and a lot of other games

how is this comment 4 days ago if the video is 3 days old
This was very inspirational, I had flashbacks about myself in the old versions. I was confused aswell; and yeah, we won't be living the same moment. But you must remember. *"Don't be sad because it's gone, smile because it happened."*
You are spitting facts ! oh my gosh I love this quote ^^
And thank you so much !
I started playing the old classic version in the browser. Then my brother found a hacked indev version, which felt so much exciting and strange compared to the classic version.
I remember being amazed when he managed to craft a stick. A stupid stick was enough to keep me hooked 😂. Then he bought the game which was just hitting alpha, and the infinite world felt amazing. Then SMP arrived, and I chose to buy the game on october 9th 2010. That was almost 13 years ago now 🥹.
The rest is history now
The way I grew up I was pretty unfourtunate. Heard about the game from couple of friends around 2013. I didn't have money to buy it, so I watched youtube videos on it.What really sucked was that once I got the game, I already knew everything. Never really got that feeling of discovery and curiosity.

This video reminds me of the Minecraft book “The Island”, which is one of my favorites. Being dropped into this world and learning what to do with just trying things is an amazing concept
I read that book a while ago!! It was so good, especially with the visualization of the world around being described in words instead of images

This video is a work of art. From how the music of Celeste, Mario, and Undertale are used. to how the story is told. this is one of the videos I will watch over and over, if not the only video I will watch over and over. this video is so familiar that you can call it an exact replica of what we all went through. The first house, the discovery of tools, getting used to the controls. this one might be specific to me but discovering iron isn't seeds in stone and can only be mined by Stone, Iron, Diamond, or Netherite tools. I almost cried at the end message because its sad knowing you cant forget it, you cant un-remember. maybe this noob can teach us how to play the game properly, not rushing to the end because you've already done it. This, is the real way to play minecraft, don't make haste of your game, enjoy it.
As a Minecraft Speedrunner and someone who knows to much about the game. This makes me feel like I am playing again for first time but on modern minecraft. I kinda needed this video it brings me back somehow all of this is really cool. So good job in the editing and storytelling
Thanks a lot !! I really appreciate this comment and I'm so happy and proud I get to help even the more experienced players :D

@SillyNeve it was an emotional rolecoster nostalgia hit hard in this video
There is an old Japanese letsplay (with English subtitles) where he goes in completely blind. After seeing the advancement to create a nether portal, he spends a long time trying things, and eventually asks a friend what the advancement says in other languages. From there, he figures out it’s not something he can craft, and after a while longer of building, he figures it out. I wish I still had the link to that letsplay, no matter how painful it is to watch
At the time he did it, the recipe book and ruined portal didn’t exist, so the game was incredibly unfriendly to those without outside connection
It's called "PiroPito first playthrough of minecraft"
This... this... it's immense. The amount of nostalgia I got from this! I was soo happy watching Blanchhe slowly progress. This video have me a new look at a game i've been playing for almost 10 years! Thank you, man! This is awesome.
Of course !! I see people thanking me in the comments and I really have nothing else to say than thank you back. Like, I am so happy to have you all watch this and go out of your way to comment. It really warms my heart !!
What nostalgia? She's playing the latest version of the game and singleplayer at that, she never even touched Creative Mode or any servers and you call that Nostalgia?
I don't mean to be rude but I feel like the people in this comment section are actually just stupid, like you're crying just because you know how to play the game and that's why it's not fun anymore? Like seriously? No, its definitely not the amount of useless and game-ruining updates over the years, no non o its the fact that I know how to get diamonds and survive the night, thats what makes it not fun anymore.
@@Lachrymogenic
If you think the game is not fun, don't play it. If you think it was fun in previous versions, play previous versions.
We, however, still find the game fun, we just have nostalgia over the first experiences, over the times when it was all new, terrifying and intriguing.
You can have nostalgia over the times you first played the game while still loving the game today, yes. Like you can cherish your childhood memories while still loving life in general.

It really depends on how you look on it. I too started playing Minecraft on creative instead of survival and I remember a lot of good memories from it. And while you might not get the same memories, as long as the memories make you happy, it's worth it in the end. There aren't instructions to having fun. There aren't instructions to memory. Everyone has different experiences, especially depending on what version they have started playing on and how much they already know, as we can see in this video. While it's okay to be sad on what you missed out on, you have to remember to be happy about the things you actually have experienced in the game. We only have one shot for memories that will stick to you and that shot will never be truly perfect. And that's why I think it's beautiful looking back on it. Sorry for the long paragraph but I just feel like this is important. 😅
Those are your memories🥺❤️
I really love how this covers the entire journey of a completely new player. It's both a testament to how awesome the game is blind, and how far Minecraft has come in trying to teach the player what to do.
This is SOOOO GOOD! Your storytelling is on point! Makes me want to actually forget everything and just play the game for the first time again...
IKR !! I sometimes wish the same :o and tysm for the sweet comment :D
You can always learn something new, it's the same feeling, just, since learning is hard, be the protagonist in this video, keep fighting, you won't get these satisfaction first, first you will get disappointment, despair, pain..
@@farpurple That's true! Thanks for the motivating words!
I feel like Neve is the only other person in the world that finally understands why games are boring, I've played a lot of different games and soon realized that its the learning, improving and the satisfaction to finally get how a part of the game works that is fun and usually takes up to 60% of all the fun you will have in that game. There are not a lot of games that have long and complicated aspects to learn like terraria or hypixel skyblock, but when these games do eventually come out and get played, all we do is blow all the fun of learning away by watching videos on them or asking a friend to make them better. The reason why people don't want spoilers is because the fun of learning something new is to everyone, and yet people still hate school. When a friend asks you to help them, don't just give them what they need, or they will get greedy and after they are done playing for the first time, they will stop and think that's the end of the game. But truly in every game there is just not the main goal to think about, but all the other small things you can be doing like having your own goals, like in Minecraft can be having all the disks or making all your farms automatic. Merci Neve for showing people the truth because I feel only a few people like you that actually get how it works.
Oh my goodness, I am so happy my message showed in the video ><

After watching this video, I've had the same feeling when you read a really really great book and you don't want it to end, search for maybe 2nd part and don't find it. Or when you have a really good dream and it ends, you try to sleep again and fail. Anyways, really great story telling. Inspired me to launch that game again after a break.
This is a masterpiece of a video! Then entire time I anticipated everything that Blanche did, seeing myself in the mistakes she made in game. I really miss when Minecraft felt like a journey, when it felt like an untold story where you have to figure out all the pieces and put them together. I shed a tear towards the end. Thank you for creating this!
This nostalgia and feeling to experience new things in various games, something that wont return and also to improve and learn things that may seem simple is what makes us truly rewarded through excitement and curiosity.

This is genuinely one of the best Minecraft videos out there. This brought back so many memories from when I first started playing minecraft! It is such a great concept, and I've only seen one other video on it (although that one focused more on the mechanics and the question "would it be possible" rather than the more story driven aspects of this video).

I’ll remember this video as an experience, and you gained a sub.
Very good writing and a extremly interesting story. I may have not experienced minecraft in the newer version all my myself my first experience with the game were just like that back when I was less than 10. The moment with the crafting table reminded me of when I first crafted then managed to use a nether reactor all on my own without any information(I played on mobile back then). It's very nostalgic for me and at the same time kinda sad as I know this way of experiencing minecraft is now extremly rare cuz we all know the game. I'm glad to be one of the people who got to experience this game for the first time just like this(except I didn't have advancement, the game was in english and I didn't speak that at the time and was too young to know how to do most things since how is a 7 years old meant to know glass is made from sand). Overall a wonderful video telling a really good story, for me and many others I assume a trip back into memories, I don't know how other viewers will feel about this video but I don't doubt it'll be in a really good experience
Oh my goodness !! I am so glad I managed to make you and others feel that way, it is truly an honor for me and I am so grateful for all of you enjoying it
i don't know whats so powerful about this video. Is it the fact that it is about the single most influential thing in my life? Or is the story telling is so good? Is it because i am so regretful about the past and the fact that we cant do anything at all to change the past? Not just the storytelling and the production quality is high level, the concept, the idea is so on point. When i say idea, i don't mean nostalgia and past memories, we talk about that a lot.. all of us are sad about that. What i mean is this "new player" concept. How it makes me remember diffirent things, not just past memories, but feelings i can't quite explain.
In the end, this video holds a special place in my mind and heart.
its that feeling of nostalgia it gives u, dis video, makes u feel like u play mc 4 da 1st time again
Ok. What the actual fuck?? How do you have so much quality??!!! I feel like this is a movie. The intro bro, the end, the fucking editing, bro you're a legend.
I love this video I wish it had been a 2 hour long documentary instead
It very much could've been. Sadly this would've been a huge bet especially as it's a new upload after a long time.

Oh and tysm !!

I still remember when I was 10 playing Minecraft at a friend's house for the first time and being terrified because giant spiders apparently existed so I just hid in a hole and sometimes came out to get logs.
I still remember being in creative, building a giant cobblestone rectangle with lava walls on the inside, and then discovering a village with no villagers. No idea what a village was, and genuinely thought maybe somebody else built it... Confused, me and my brothers went ahead and built an underground railway system back and forth because it seemed like we should.
Finding villages, lighting up deserts, figuring out how rails worked... those were good times.
The first tears came when she lit the portal. I remember playing minecraft on my xbox 360 with an old best friend maybe ten years ago.. we were on a creative world because I was scared of survival at the time. We finally figured it out- out to go to the nether. There was no googling or watching tutorials.. just pure child-like wonder. The tears kept flowing for the rest of the video.
damn, this really hits hard i still remember dying to skeleton and then being sad about it the whole day. This is such a well done video, the storytelling, the voice, almost everything is perfect. Keep it up! :D
"now i'm going to beat the ender dragon"
is what i think, when creating a new world, but i never beat it
i'm afraid of dying and losing everything
i'm afraid of my pets or mobs that i like dying, or disapearing
i'm afraid of losing all the diamonds i got while mining
that's why i never get beyond "iron level"
this time, this world i'm going to create, my objective will not be beating the ender dragon
it's going to be... playing the game
(my english isn't so good, so it may have some confusing sentences, and this commentary may not have any sense at all, but now i'm going to play some minecraft, bye)
sorry for bad english but i have to say that. i can tell without hesitation, the best minecraft video i have seen so far. i almost cried because of the nostalgia i have got from the video. i remember, right after i have got from school, i was playing with my best friend in my low-end pc all the day. we was playing the version 1.5.2 and i get only 30 fps. i literally dont know why but we keep playing, untill my mom calls me to buy bread for dinner. a little break and we kept on mining. what a great game... that innocence is priceless and i know i will not get that feeling again. that made me sad, but thanks for this great video.
I put off watching this video for a bit, but it was great, good job!
I just wanna mention a certain RUclipsr here: Piropito. He started his playthrough in 2017. He had the goal of playing the game completely blind, no outside information at all. He still plays to this day. He created every configuration of obsidian imaginable and lit them all with a flint and steel to create a nether portal (ruined nether portals didn't exist back then). He's conquered bastions, ocean monuments, and even the Wither, though he needed a hint from his friend to build it (one word: painting). He's gotten the elytra, built a massive villager trading hall (before he knew about breeding he imported them all by minecart one by one), mined out tens of thousands of cobblestone manually, and tons more. Kingbdogz, the creator of the Aether mod and now a developer at Mojang, said he binged the entire series over one weekend. Sadly he doesn't do Minecraft too much anymore since he's developing his very own horror game, but damn his playthrough is amazing.
I know the guy !! He actually was quite the inspiration for this video and goes under the name @nana825763 on youtube apparently. So yea, haven't seen all of it but it seems so fascinating and I sort of wanna make a video on his adventure but probably not soon as it'd get repetitive

I cried from the beginning to the end, i miss those days, discovering everything for the first time, my old bases, first farms i made, first time playing with mods, playing with friends by LAN, it was beautiful. I lost that sense of purpose, now i just log on, make the same bases and farms, eventually getting bored. Thanks for making me remember why I love this game

Hope I delivered :D
I still get a lot of wow out of the game, i add a lot of mods now to java but stay vanilla on bedrock.
This reminded me of not only my first experience with the game but also when I first introduced my wife (then friend) to it.
I refused to give any information beyond how to make a crafting table and tools. It was almost cruel, but it was to preserve that sense of self discovery. Remembering those times brings a tear to my eye ❤
When I saw the title: hell yeah I know, I've been playing this game for over a decade
When I watched the video: *existential dread*
Now I'm jealous I won't get to experience the beauty of this game the same way ever again.. The fact that I know everything there is to know makes me feel burnt out whenever I try to play. But even if I had the option to reset my memory in regard to everything about this game.. idk if I'd do it. At the same time it feels nice to know everything. It's so conflicting to me
I wanted someone to make this video for so long, I'm so happy someone finally did.
I love this video. I have been playing Minecraft for over 12 years, and by this point, so much is instinctive and obvious, but it's incredible to remember how it was to play for the first time without knowing anything.
bro... this really brings back the days
I'll never be able to relive starting minecraft for the first time especially when the game has changed so much from when I started. Usually if I want to feel nostalgic again, I just go back to an old version of minecraft and play in my first mc beta world. It brings some of the nostalgia back but it will never be the same.
Wow. This video really makes me realize the precious moments I had with my first survival worlds. And I now understand why it isn't the same anymore. Thank you Neve.
Holly crap! This was an experience. The way that he made this video is amazing, the musics that he choose (that just so happened to be my favorite video games's music) was right on the spot and, of course, this amazing feeling of reliving my childhood was incredible. Thank you a lot for making this

I think I did know this, every time I made a new world and stopped playing a a few days later. Every time I was left alone on a server surrounded by the derelict structures of my formerly eager friends. I knew it, not in a subtle way, but in a clear way. It’s the same reason I don’t use iron pickaxes even when I get Iron, or why so often people avoid or forget blast furnaces, we just don’t need it to be over faster. This was incredible.

This is literally a cinema masterpiece thank you so much!!
Just discovered about your channel and I'm already subscribing!
We NEED to see more of Blanche's adventure, she has so much more to discover!
I recently started playing GTNH (GregTech: New Horizons). It's a hardcore modpack that has tons of content, and the absolute majority of recipes are changed there, including other mods' ones. In many cases some core concepts and mechanics are changed as well, like water not being infinite, nights and mobs being much more punishing, hunger depleting much faster through running and jumping, completely different ore generation, etc. I initially started playing modpack with a friend but quickly burned out from all of the new information and my friend also kinda rushed the progress, so I decided to play solo at my own pace for now to get accustomed to it.
Why am I telling all this? It actually felt really weird that I would need to play a modpack alone first. I've been playing Minecraft on and off since Beta 1.8 and mostly vanilla. A year ago I finally discovered a world of mods and quickly gained knowledge on the most popular tech ones, like IC2 (which I prefer), Thermal, Mekanism, and so on. While also becoming aware about other mods that my friends were interacting with. But GTNH (and GregTech-based modpacks in general) is a very special modpack since it's basically a new game. You may think that you know the game and the included mods, but you actually don't because everything was changed. Because suddenly you need a variety of tools to craft the most basic things, mobs not only look really scary but are also able to do all kinds of unexpected nasty crap to you, you're not even able to create glass in the early game, and so on. So I feel like GTNH actually allows to experience this kind of nostalgia and to actually start the game over like you've never even known it.
Basically, if you want to play Minecraft again like you've never played it before and experience it as a completely new game, I highly recommend trying any GregTech-based modpack. GTNH is the behemoth of them all and requires a lot of grind to progress, while there's also Nomifactory which is far less grindy version.
I want to delete all my memories from this game now and start all over again
The editing.. the storytelling, the nostalgia i got by just.. seeing all of this. I loved this video, how everything was potrayed.. It's just amazing. And it's really nostalgic too. I lowkey want to go back in time and just.. replay it all again. Without knowing almost anything about the game. In every world i make, i hate rushing to the end, hell, i never even got to a bastion or an ocean temple in survival. I've been playing for over 8 years and yet.. i have never beaten the ender dragon or any of the bosses or most feared mobs. That's because i've always taken things calmly, testing things, trying out new stuff and just finding out the game mechanics by myself.. and i loved building. I've always been a builder.
I usually never comment, let alone watch videos that are too long, and minecraft-related content just gets boring after a while, it always seems the same, "100 facts you didn't know about minecraft!!" and turns out i knew them all. Even things like bedwars, survival let's plays, tutorials, speedbuilds, building inspirations, smps, speedruns.. it just gets boring. The only thing i still have a lot to learn about is how redstone works. Never understood it, LOL. But the originality of this.. there's nothing that brings more joy to my heart than just seeing new players relive the moments i lived before them, in any game. It makes me feel like a proud mother, for some reason.
And the Undertale soundtracks?? Somehow it even made viewing this whole video more nostalgic. Congrats, you earned a new sub, i seriously can't wait to see more content from your channel man.
I first experienced Minecraft through a german RUclipsr called Gronkh, when I wasn't even 10 years old. He's pretty much the german Minecraft Pioneer. Over 1000 Episodes of Vanilla Minecraft, beginning in a time, where you only had to punch sheep to get wool, up to modded Minecraft.
It's been over 10 Years since I first watched and learned about Minecraft from Gronkh and he will always have a certain spot in my heart. I'm literally 20 now. The Game has come so far, sometimes, I forget how simple it used to be, until I have to explain to somebody what a Creeper or Enderman is xD
This video was a nostalgia trip like I haven't had before. It's somebody's first time playing it, but a newer version, where there are Goats to launch you from a Cliff and the Nether has actual Life without Mods.
Thank you, Neve, for making this video. As to your question...
... Yes, I believe wholeheartedly, that it was worth it.
This reminds me of my childhood when I had just started and went through almost the same phase. Finding the first diamond and just being anxious to find more and just the utter confidence dying by just the name of the nether. It's an experience you get once, but is enough to make you cry and smile and reminds me of the one quote someone said "That one day we'll look back at where we started, and be amazed by how far we've come".
You know the name
This video was exactly my thought on minecraft since playing the new update. Awesome job man! The power and comfort of nostalgia.
I've been playig minecraft for atleast 11 years now. That's more than half my life, its been so long i can hardly remember much of my first playthrough of mc after i bought it (i did play cracked) back then it was 1.2.5 barely having a fraction of what we have now. Just getting jungles and cats.
But seeing somebody's journey through the game from the start again really invoked somehing deep in me, thank you so much.
Shout out to the HLD music at 17:20

This is a cinematic masterpiece. I got goosebumps so many times because the soundwork plus the nostalgic memories
Nicely edited fam
Neve casually picking the absolute best soundtracks to play in the backround
This is honestly honestly one of the best videos I’ve ever seen on RUclips, and I’ve spent around 7000 hours here
Loved the video! Exceptional and full of meaning. I really hope it goes viral because more people need to realize what certain games are truly all about. Plus it would be great for your channel. Great work!!
Guys
Why is everything on this page italicized?
Is it just me?? What's going on
edit: i just reloaded and yea it was just a bug. 10/10 video, loved every minute
One of the best videos i've ever watched, keep up mate
Why did wathcing this video make me so emotional? I've never experienced that feeling before.
This game helped me through ups and downs and I even lost motivation once, but being killed will never stop me anymore. One month ago, I created a world “-Great-World-“I made it originally with one friend. But now I have killed the ender dragon and fought the wither (I died to the wither😂) this game just showed ones thoughts and brings imagination to life, this game is a HUGE chapter of my life. 24k hours I will never get back, but it was a good 24k hours…
Dude I've been watching and making minecraft videos for YEARS and I have to say this might be the best one I've ever seen. Props to you neve!
This is a masterpiece, one of the videos that had such a profound impact on me ! continue your work !
