In my younger days I did a lot of backpacking around the world and living and working in other countries. When you are on the move like that and most of what you own has to fit into a backpack you have to carry everywhere, you learn to travel light. I had no incentive to accumulate material things as they were literal burdens. Less was definitely more then and that nomadic mindset has stuck with me now that I'm more settled.
Hi Angela! We just recently decided to downsize and sell alot of our furniture... what a liberating feeling it was!🙏 We managed to pay off some smaller bills as well and the most beautiful thing that happened is that my level of energy changed! I'm a happier mama, I have less mental load and I just realized how we spent years buying things and trying to afford things that weren't bringing us any extra benefits other than taking away our freedom in different ways instead! Loved this video!🙏💝
Had to watch this Bcuz that is such a clever title. Lol. My big “why” was mostly to do with less work, stress and the depressing monotony of never ending chores, to dos and managing stuff along with getting rid of a lot of decision fatigue day to day. I found many more benefits along the way tho even tho I didn’t know what they were yet. When you’re perfectionistic, detail oriented, an over thinker, analytical, have OCD traits and are prone to depression, less is truly more and much better. Being more minimal has helped me in ALL these areas and then some. Of course there are physical things to consider also with aging. You just can’t physically do all the things you used to could do when you were younger. Energy and physical strength seem to wane as we age…simply Bcuz you have to go a little slower and be a bit more careful or at least you just need more breaks between all the work.
These are a lot of good tips that we don't always focus on. I do a monthly purge of my paperwork and electronic devices files, apps & photos. But I have to admit that I'm guilty of buying several plants at a time without much knowledge other than lighting requirements and sometimes a few of them can suffer until I figure out the best care for them. Other plants that I have might become neglected for a short while because I'm focused on caring for the new ones.
Digital clutter is the worst. 😵 Time consuming to purge it, photos etc. It took me 4 days to keep only the essential on the hard disk. I encourage you all to do it, and take breaks. It's a painful process, but you realize the importance of how to erase years of digital clutter in a couple of days. Lesson learned. 😁
That is one area I still struggle with clutter. It just adds up so quickly! I have gotten into the habit of clearing my phone on long car trips - going through photos and such. But there is still more work to do! ❤️
I have some exciting news! my puppy Marley (big brother to Sammy Bear) says that he's been a minimalist all along! that all he really needs is his favorite play toys, a couple of excellent dog beds, his favorite meal bowl, rides in the truck and lots of love and time spent together-maybe that's part of the secret why we love our dogs so much
Ok, only because you asked 😁 Less use of the word "less" when "fewer" should be used would lead to better communication. Believe me, you are not the only RUclipsr who does it! Otherwise, great video!
Ha ha! You’re the second person that has mentioned this! When filming I naturally did NOT want to use the word less….but, I wanted to keep it simple and in line with my original phrase of ‘less is more’ ha ha! I guess I should have listened to my gut (reason 27) and just made the points naturally, without worrying about using the word ‘less’. ❤️
"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" - this certainly does not include festooning our nest and lives with curated everything (whose only purpose of design is to make us see fit to exchange our money for it) of course we all have our daily lives and work to attend to but personal dreams, love and perhaps just a quiet saunter (I see kids out on a bicycle or even getting horseback lessons and feel sad that they don't even know how much they're missing out because they are tethered to their cell phones) -we are all growing and learning both individually and as a culture or civilization and are getting better awareness from different and credible sources , like for instance...AHC -which is a paradox to the LESS IS MORE lesson today!
Wise words Richard. I too feel sad when I see how consumed the younger generation is with technology. I don’t believe that all technology is bad - and the internet can be a stream for learning and growing, if the right content is consumed…but children have access to way more than they should, and it is doing more harm to them than good in my opinion. There are things I recognize now, with age, that would never have crossed my mind when I was younger. I’d like to believe that I have become much more in tune with my life now than I was back then…and I try daily to improve where possible. ❤️
Love the video and I agree completely. Less truly is more. I was taught that when speaking of “less something” the something would be a singular noun. If it is plural then you would use the word “fewer”. As in “I want to have less clutter. I want to have fewer clutter piles. My children have less anxiety than other children. I think maybe because they have fewer toys.” Less toys- incorrect Fewer toys- correct I could be wrong but it always sounds incorrect to me.
I agree with you! It actually hurt me to say some of the sentences in this video using the word ‘less’ instead of fewer…but I was trying to keep it simple and in line with my initial statement. ❤️
'Walkman' There are many of us who learn from Angela's soft spoken encouragement and appreciate her content so very much! We look forward to enjoying another thoughtful video from her channel! Rather than disparaging her efforts with unkind remarks, please consider unsubscribing because it's obvious this content doesn't appeal to you. 'Less' unhelpful comments from people like you means 'more' for the rest of us who are grateful for the time it takes her to produce these videos for our entertainment and education.🙋
Do you have other examples of how LESS is MORE? Pleas share them!

Thanks for watching! It’s good if you recognize that buying too many plants may be a problem for you. Now you can determine a solution! ❤️

Less toys- incorrect
Fewer toys- correct
I could be wrong but it always sounds incorrect to me.

There is probably a way you could say it using less. “Less Toy Clutter” obtained by having “fewer toys” 🥰
Probably! Sadly, it’s a bit late to re-film the video. Oh well. I’m living and learning! ❤️
do less videos
Ha ha! Watch less videos
@@ArrowHillCottage haha 🤝
FEWER videos 😉 😂
Ha ha! Just carrying on the theme ;)
