I live close to Hayward wi!! Fish shell lake for some big Smallies!!! Caught a 7 pound Smallie off a crib last year… I was also just down fishing Lake Fork and had to stop in at 3:16 to talk to Mickey and buy some Swimbaits!!
That is very cool, I have seen a bunch of frog variations and that has to be one of the best. Who doesn't love topwater, so of course I will have to get one!
SWEET!!!!! I Love throwing BIG baits, that no one else is doing. 2 of my favorites are a 17" worm from Bass Pro, and the Tora Tube. 1 question: That frog does float, at rest.....correct?
Thanks Matt, two things, 1) I just checked the page, the are out of stock. $ 19 for a package if four. 2) When you have some time please share with us how to proper set the drag, I searched all over and couldn't found a decent explanation about this subject other than common sense but since I found you really look into every fishing aspect please give us your advice.
A friend and I were fishing at night at a small percolation pond and a big bullfrog was honking away. It was so loud it was mesmerizing, like a fog horn. (Frog horn) Then suddenly we hear a bass strike the bull frog! “Whack!” and it was silent…. My friend and I, at different spots on the lake, started saying, “OMG!” “The frog got eaten!” (It’s pitch dark so we didn’t see anything, we just heard it) Then in the middle of the pond we hear the frog surface and start kicking frantically towards shore. It sounded like it was missing a leg! It made it back to shore but remained silent the rest of the night. After that night I’ve always thought about a realistic bull frog bait with its legs hanging half way in the water with the Livingston Lures sound mechanism chirping away.
@@MattStefanFishing- Another time we were in a boat cruising down the shoreline and I see what looked like one of those cement frog yard decorations, someone had thrown away. It was a lot bigger than a normal frog sitting in the classic Bullfrog stance. It was about five feet up the bank. I cast my JerkBait at it expecting it to be made out of cement and it snagged it’s foot and the thing launched off the bank and splashed in the water like a cannon ball. I fought it for a while and it was pulling drag with each kick. It took two hands to grab it where you normally would, holding it by the plate of its back. It’s was what we guessed to be 5-7 pounds! It was the biggest Bull Frog we had ever seen! It crawled under the bench seat of our John boat and stayed there while we fished until sunset. When we pulled the boat out of the water we set the frog down on the ground and it leaped about 5 feet and would crash on the ground before leaping again all the way to the water and splashed in like a cannon ball once more. I should have gotten it mounted. (But I’d rather let it go) It had the most beautiful long leopard striped legs. It would have been like eating a big chicken leg. Whenever I hear a big bullfrog sounding off like a fog horn, I picture that size of a Bullfrog being out there. I swear both story’s are 100% true. You get to see a lot of amazing things while fishing!
Just found this channel and absolutely love it. Im from Kenosha but have family in the Wausaukee area so we fish the Menominee and Highfalls flowage and Cauldron falls flowage alot. Finally someone from our neck of the woods
I want a traditional popping frog with two treble hooks. Yes, I know it won’t be weedless and you can’t fish it through the pads, but I want it for open water. Can you talk to some manufacturers and make that happen?
They’d sure sell more of those if they’d make it a little smaller. That kinda reminds me of the old Bill Plummer’s Super Frog with the wire weedguard underneath the belly and kicking legs. One of the original frogs that was quality back then. Snag Proof and Bill Plummer’s were the most known frogs when I was a kid.
Sometimes they see them as a bluegill, sometimes they see them as a frog, sometimes they see them as something struggling on the surface that will fit in their mouth- and that's really all they need to know. It's all about where and how you fish them- what kind of forage is around. A frog isn't made to only be fished on mats and around Lilly pads, that's just it's most common use. I have frogs made to look like a rat swimming on the surface, some made to specifically mimic shad and blue back herring struggling on the surface, and others made to look like bluegill- as well as a few that are made to look like a real frog swimming. They all work at different times and places.
Hi Matt. While I like that it looks realistic moving through the water, I am still perplexed at why a fish wouldn’t want to bite on something that is the same coloring as frog found in the lake. Clearly there aren’t neon green ones in real life. Same with other baits. Always a topic of discussion here. Sincerely- Perplexed.
@@MattStefanFishing Just got this one that has similar legs, though it's smaller. I've only tried it once and the gar were trying to rip the legs off. shop.lunkerhunt.com/products/lunker-frog
@@MattStefanFishing I'm not complaining, I actually thought they would be more from 316. You see how much they get for his hard baits! I'm a Swimbait guy and have some ridiculously priced baits 😂 They look awesome!

Yeah a little one would be killer!
Wow....if that doesn’t look real!! Very cool bait!! Don’t think you’ll be catching to many dinks with that!! Thanks for the video Matt!! 🐸

Looks good to humans, I’ll admit that. Bass still see frogs as bluegill, so I’ll stick with my spro’s.

Don't you think the green color is the most natural?
Yes
Wish they made this in a color that makes sense...lol

So cool... I want one just to make it swim, which cares if I even catch anything lmao
That's honestly how I feel
I try to get a hour in every morning before work. Cause I feel that same way when I take the kids.

I like to throw mine w a trailer hook and a flouro weed guardp

Most so called frogs are not meant to look like a frog to bass.
I agree, which is why this is the most realistic frog I have found.
