In this video I’m going to show you how to create the Infinite Loop Effect in Final Cut Pro. I’ll also give you 3 tips on how to shoot for this effect to make your life easier in editing.
When it comes to shooting this effect, you need to shoot your shots using a tripod so that the camera doesn’t move, and you’ll want to make sure your camera settings like your white balance, exposure and focus are manually set so that nothing changes in-between takes or in the middle of a shot. Now that your camera is ready, go ahead and shoot a couple of different takes of your subject walking in and out of frame. You can either loop your favourite take to create an infinite loop of just that one action, or you can mix up a few different takes to create a more interesting and varied infinite loop.

Being new at editing I'm left scratching my head at some of these effects when I first see them and the amazing thing about your tutorials is you make them so simple to understand that I can immediately go out and experiment with confidence! 😄
I’m really glad to hear that! If you do try this effect out, feel free to share a link so I can check it out 😊🙏🏼
What a fun trick. Very well explained. And I learned more than just how to create this effect. Several of the editing things you used in this effect will be very helpful in other editing scenarios, too. Such as feathering and trimming with quick keys. Thanks for sharing the knowledge!
You’re welcome Mitch! I’m so glad you got a lot out of it. Thanks for watching 😊👍🏼
Ahhh, it's so nice to hear a South African accent 🇿🇦This was so helpful and well presented - thank you! We'll definitely be using this for future projects 🙌🙏
Thanks Simone and Geovanny! 😊🤙🏼🇿🇦
I’m glad you enjoyed the video and that you’re going to try it out. We’ve always wanted to visit Mexico! 🇲🇽 Hopefully some day 😊🤞🏼
So GOOD! Such a nice effect and you made it look easy. You are so right that the prep work upfront can make this look so much better.
Thanks Rafael! 😊🙏🏼 As you always say, fix it in camera, finesse it in post 🔥

Brad. I understand how you did all of this because, as always, you are very precise and very clear.
However... how could you afford such expensive talent and such a beautiful location!?

hi brad love your videos , can you helpmeet I did see a video of a guy walk behind a tree and came out the other side of the tree with different clothes on , I thinks a draw mask was used would it be possible for you to do a tutorial , much obliged.
Thanks, Carl! You would definitely use a draw mask for that effect, but that would make for a great tutorial. I’ll add it to my list. 😄🤙🏼
Interesting and helpful video. Thanks for this. Now a different question: how can I create a looping video, such as an animated background, that will play until stopped, on my iPad?
Depending on what the background is, you can creating a looping video in Final Cut Pro by either laying copies of the clip over itself and using cross dissolves to blend them together. This works well for footage shot on a tripod. If it’s a background title template, you should be able to just extend it for as long as you need it to be.
Tricky thing is, you can’t loop playback on the iPad as far as I’m aware. So you would need to make the loop in Final Cut Pro for as long (or longer) than you think you need. So if you think you need it to run for 10 minutes, export a 20 minute loop. Hope that helps 😊🤞🏼
I think I got it. Will try and hit ya back.
Awesome! Feel free to share your results 😄👊🏼
super duper
Glad you liked it!
Очень крутое видео
😄🙏🏼
👌
😊👊🏼
Can anyone tell me what the title of backsound at intro ? Its funny sound
Are you talking about the music? It’s a song from Uppbeat, in the comedy section. I can’t recall the name of the song. You can get music for free on Uppbeat: bit.ly/UppbeatBD
How do you do that transition at 1:00?
It’s a warp zoom transition from Ryan Nangle 😊🤙🏼

It ok, but where in the editor can I find the loop🔁button, like is very comon in Cubase, Garageband? Locators etc? Yeah exactly! Or (as I asume you know a lot about it) which video editors provide that function?
To turn on looping in Final Cut Pro, choose View > Playback > Loop Playback (or press Command + L) 😄👍🏼
🤟🏼👌🏻
😎🤙🏼
What editing software is this?
This was done in Final Cut Pro but you can apply this principle to any video editing application that has a masking feature. 😊
@@Brad_West Thank you so much
Hello
👋🏼
I'm first viewer
Boom! 🔥 Thanks for watching 😊👊🏼
You lost me at 39seconds but thanks for the demo nonetheless😂
What did you not like at 39 seconds?
20 years back efect
I’m not sure what you mean by that. Can you share a link to where you’ve seen the effect in action? 😊
Wow that is so cool and perfect editing. Opening, Standing, Repeat.... Opening, Standing, Repeat.... ⛓ Looks like a Hollywood Movie shot. Great Work, Well Done once again - Thank you
Haha thanks so much 😊🙏🏼 I’m glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully you can use this effect in your videos.
