    To get hard wired ethernet look into powerline mains adapters. Basically turns your house electrical circuit into a LAN. Plug one end in at your router, the other at your end point and rj45 to each end. I use for a strong network in my home office which doesn't have great WiFi

    Finally a more affordable amp with Airplay2. I really hope for a more in-depth review.
    I read that the Arylic H50 has some issues with ARC.
    What I really would like to know:
    * How's the usability when you don't want to use the amp's remote all the time?
    * When e.g. streaming with a phone and the TV is turned on, does it automatically switch to the ARC input?
    * Does the ARC input support adjusting volume (via the TV or Apple TV remove)?
    * Do you need to turn the amp explicitly on and off if you start or stop streaming?
    * What's the power usage when in standby (e.g. ready to be streamed to)?

    SMSL AO300 or this? SMSL AO300 also got a good headphone amp (& also HDMI-ARC) but this WIIM Amp better for streaming perhaps (software wise) but sound wise which 1 would be better?

    I recently bought the B50 (based on a prior video when Randy hooked it up to his outdoor speakers) and although I like how it sounds I'm having a bunch of issues with it. The control doesn't work, neither does the HDMI input (currently using the optical input). That and not having a built-in streamer is enough for me to want to swith to this Wiim.

    This product looks cool, but I have software concerns. I'm using the pro plus as my EQ so all line in and optical goes through it. It works great most of the time, but I'll have occasional sound drop outs. Also have times where sound just stops coming out when switching inputs until the Wiim is rebooted. These are minor issues, but I could see them being more annoying with the Wiim as an amp. Glad this exists as an all in one and I hope the software works without too many issues.

    I'm shaking my head at your cable management, bro... Get some velcro strips, my dude. I'm wondering if this would be a worthwhile upgrade for my desktop 2.1 setup. Currently using an Ayima D05 connected to my PC via Toslink to drive a pair of passive Kanto speakers and a little Kanto Sub6. So, I wouldn't need the streamer functionality, just DAC+Amp. I like the looks of it and the remote looks nicer than the Ayima.

    • @D1N02
      @D1N02 10 месяцев назад +1

      The ESS9018 used to be a flagship DAC chip, the AK4499 would be misplaced here. You'd have to spend so much on implementation to get the best out of that chip. It would become too expensive.

    • @991carreras3
      @991carreras3 10 месяцев назад

      @D1N02 there's the problem 'it used to be' in a new product why would you want something from yrs ago. The 4499 chip adds just under $200 and now you have the latest and greatest rather than something older. It might sound ok but if I'm buying a new product I'm only buying the latest. After owning the mini, pro, and now the plus with 4493 I would never consider this new unit. Wiim should have offered something better than the plus but I guess they have their reasons.

    • @D1N02
      @D1N02 10 месяцев назад

      @@991carreras3This product is aimed at people who are clueless about what a DAC is. The es9018 is fine. It was in the Moon 780D which cost 13,500 euro. It is in my Argon Solo network bridge and it sounds very good. More than well enough for a $300 streaming amp. Most big brands use lesser DAC's in their amplifiers. It is about implementation anyway, not the chip.

    Can somebody tell Randy about HomePlugs Powerline adapters. Provided the broadband router is on the same mains circuit he should have no problems establishing a wired ethernet connection. The data packets are transmitted over the mains wiring ring and therefore no Wi-Fi issues.

      Sounds like you just did. If that works I’m totally in. Would put WiFi extender companies out of business

    • @SteveD-m6z
      @SteveD-m6z 10 месяцев назад

      Generally, Powerline adapters are used to complement existing Wi-Fi networks. The simpler designs supplement the ethernet network (LAN ports) via the HomePlugs protocol. There are also adapters that combined ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity. This allows you to run a wired connection from the source (router) and add a remote Wireless Access Point (Wi-Fi Range extender) near the device. There are three data speed specifications (1300, 1000 and 600 Mbps). The 1300 Mbps connectivity is equivalent to 5 GHz Wi-Fi and the lowest 600 Mbps is like 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. This bandwidth is share will all devices connect to the Powerline adapter. For a point-to-point streaming application, the lower specification 600 Mbps adapter is fine. There is a trade-off between the data speed and the allowable length of the mains cable (check the manufacturer’s specs). The reliability / data integrity is influenced by quality of the main wiring. RCD circuit breakers degrade the signal and the Powerline adapter pair will work best when connected to two power outlets on the same mains ring. I would also avoid power outlets near other electrical equipment that creates EMI spikes on the mains ring. @@cheapaudioman
