I'm watching this for my Laboratory Alchemy course. Very well done. Dennis Hauck says this experiment compares to the human body's metabolism, oxygen is taken in during inhalation to support combustion, carbon dioxide is removed during exhalation. Or in a spiritual sense the release of water vapor represents the ego or spiritual attachments to the current situation. I'm 38 wish I paid attention in high school.
@@THTKIDTONY one possible answer is the same as the baking soda just switch the Na for K and since they are both 1+ ions that could be one answer. It also is a white solid.
As a teacher who has 150 students come through lab in a day. It’s a quick easy effective way to know the gas jet is not left on. Leaving a burner hose still attached leaves room for mistakes turning off the gas. It also allows for the burner to lay flat and take up less space to clean up the area.
Are the masses correct in this lab? I'm using it as a sub for my virtual students and the numbers seem to be suggesting sodium oxide as the product, which is not correct.
Anne Schmidt Thank you. I must have calculated incorrectly. Thank you for the great video! It saved me time since I have inperson and virtual students. I appreciate you!
I use baking soda to remove moisture from books and, as far as I see, it's possible to dry a certain amount of baking soda in a (not too hot) oven without decomposing it. This way I could reuse the baking soda again and again. Do you see any flaw in this reasoning?

hey I came here for cooking purpose, chemistry isn't just for chemists. you'll never know which knowledge would be useful in your life ahead or even safe your life! it doesn't hurt to learn things!
I hope you read my comment, please don't complain about learning something! we have no guarantee that the knowledge we have will be useful in real life ... BUT the character that we build while learning something positive (definitely not learning bad things) is also what matters most!
You might find it a fun hobby later in life and wish you knew more about it! I didn't pay attention in school and now here I am learning what I missed.

Awesome to hear the video was helpful! Best wishes.

2NaHCO3(Baking Soda) ---Heat--> Na2CO3(Washing Soda) + H2O + CO2

Who else teacher made yall do this
I’m doing this right now lol , I have to write a CER for it
it was pretty fun though like idk i like chemistry
Could you briefly explain the point of the "pretzeling" of the gas hose?

Yes they are and prove the correct solid with very low error.

Hey so I was wondering when I would use this information outside of school and when I grow up. :|

Chances are you won't actually use the information, but learning this (and learning anything) can help build skills and improve ways of thinking

may i know is there any physical changes after heating it up?
we can see a slight diffrence between NaHCO3 and Na2CO3 if we look very closely.
Why we heated the sodium bicarbonate?
Without the heat you won't cause the sodium bicarbonate to decompose into the products.
Explained much better than Mr L....
Thanks 😊
why is it important to do a second heating?
Great video on stocks and crypto currency’s
😂
Hi. What happens when we heat saturated sodium bicarbonate solution in water? Instead of powder form.
the water will boil off and the remaing sodium bicarbonate will turn into Na2CO3
The water will evaporate which leave the sodium bicarbonate to solidify and decompose into sodium carbonate
What is the remaining white crystal?
Sodium carbonate.
At what temperature will it decomposed..in water
It doesn’t decompose in water, but it would dissolve in water.
Thanks maam
You're Welcome! Great to hear the video was helpful.
Anhydrous sodium hydroxide?
Which chemical can changes blue to white colour ?
copper sulphate pentahydrate --heat-> copper sulphate + H2O (gas)
this video is valid, can we get a chug jug check?
What is the white salt compound?
Tell me a third product name?
My students have to find out if it is sodium hydroxide, sodium oxide or sodium carbonate using the mass data and stoichiometry.
it's sodium carbonate and the balanced equation is 2 NaHCO3 → Na2CO3 + H2O + CO2
OP MUNEER yes
