Here’s Day 9 of my 22-Day Printmaking Challenge 👁️

I got really hung up on drawing a design today. For some reason I feel like I need to show a wide range of designs and try a bunch of new things during this challenge…but that is the exact type of self-imposed pressure that got me into all this creative block to begin with.

I do that a lot. I never want to repeat similar themes or color ways too close to another. I guess I’m afraid that people will get bored. Or I’ll get pigeonholed into something, people end up really liking it, and then I’ll be trapped in it forever. That’s one of my biggest fears, I’m learning.

So anyway, here’s an all-seeing beetle for you. I love throwing an eye into any design, and I love drawing symmetrical stuff - insects included. I chose red ink because I hadn’t used that color yet, which sounds silly but again, I’m learning a lot about my own brain and creative process here too.
