I have a 100% Cashmere P-coat that I bought 30 years ago. It’s by Hermes and cost a lot, but I have worn it every single winter and it still looks brand new. I have it dry cleaned once a year. Yes, it was expensive but the ‘cost per wear’ is pennies! 👍🥰‼️
Always love your videos! My piece that I have no regrets buying- a good bra! Getting a good fitting and working with a knowledgeable clerk is the best thing I ever did.
Hi 👋🏻 Canadian here. Coats are a staple in my wardrobe. I have probably 10 and I know that seems excessive. BUT we had -43 C two weeks ago and today we were +10 so needless to say we need many different coats for the vastly changing temperatures! 😅
Belts, classic handbags, shoes and jackets are the most expensive but longest running items in rotation in my closet. When you get good ones they can last with some TLC and styles always come back!
I have a navy blue ribbed blazer with blue and white stripes, gold buttons, perfect fit. It was expensive; but a game changer! I throw it on anytime I’m wearing basics and it elevates my style and mood! ❤ thank you Anna for always celebrating us and our style! I watch every episode of your channel! Much love 😘
Pieces I have never regretted: handmade jewelry and handmade bags. Always in style as they never got a style. They are MY style, lol. And they always receive tons of compliments 🎉
I thrift men's jeans and trousers. They are wonderful. They are made better than women's, on average. I am wearing a pair of Wrangler's jeans right now! Love your channel!
Same here! I've got an amazing collection of men's thrifted real wool or real linen or silk or leather blazers and coats, and my jeans and wool trousers are all men's. Thrifted leather belts are great too. I love all the pockets in men's clothes, and how deep they are, and it just really bothers me that women's clothing has had all of the pockets removed or shortened so that they're unusable, and usually the fabric just isn't up to par. Men's clothes are so much higher quality. I'm wearing a men's lightweight worsted wool overcoat, men's jeans, and men's Sambas at the moment.
I do too, being tall I’ve found mens denim fits me better and they’re generally all cotton. My most favourite cashmere, wool, and silk pieces are men’s.
I like your distinction between an expensive item and a quality item or one that you really like. Especially when you know a style that you really enjoy and finding a quality piece that will last and always look good. I am the person that is unable to find jeans that suit me, or perhaps I just don’t want to wear them. Instead I have a beautiful pair of navy trousers that I feel good in and fit me well. The whole jewellery issue is very interesting as well. I really mull over pieces too. Travelling is a good time to find something special, handmade or local to the area. It means far more to me than a designer brand with a huge price tag. I live in a very warm climate, our winters are mild in comparison to a lot of places. I have built up a lovely winter wardrobe with high quality pieces I have been wearing for 10 years and will continue to wear. I only wear them for 2-3 months.
7:14-7:21: I live in a warm climate, so I didn't NEED a heavy coat. I also work remote. But I invested in a J. Crew lady day coat just in case. Day one wearing her, I received multiple compliments. Now I pull her out any time there is a slight chill in the air😂.
In NC we have more rain than not, more mild than cold. I now have 3 trench coats (I finally succumbed) and I wear them 90% of the time. Elevates all outfits. And I am the same as you, where has cashmere been all my life? Perfect for cool to cold. Real fabrics are my go to now.
9:41-9:52: Girl, this is a slippery slope. Be careful here. If you get the cashmere bug, it's hard not to turn into a knit snob. And don't get me started on hoarding, I mean “collections”: mid-calf, mid-thigh, wraps. It can be dangerous😊
Completely agree with the good handbag tip. Good bag, good shoes are key. A $3 thrifted dress looks like a million bucks if you have good shoes and a good bag.
I live in New England and find good wool MUCH warmer than cashmere, but who can resist a good cashmere. I thrift all my cashmere for amazing prices. On the hunt now to thrift alpaca and yak.
The fashion editors tell us we should put our money in good accessories, shoes and handbags. It is possible to look expensive wearing an inexpensive dress with high quality accessories. The opposite isn't really true.
Fun content today! I love having multiples of things and being able to change my whole look, but when I started wearing glasses I knew I needed to go with a quality pair that complimented my face. The cheap plastic pairs just don't work for me, so I don't regret spending 💰 on prescription eye wear! Also, I've always heard that cashmere brand pronounced "kwince" (rhymes with prince). 😊
I live in Florida too (Navarre), and it's been ridiculously cold here!!! I love this video--especially the jewelry and purse info. I also like the idea of thrifting belts. It's extremely possible to find high quality materials like leather and even good metals at thrift/vintage stores. And I agree about cashmere being such a lux and quality material. My daughter bought my current favorite cashmere pink sweater from Dillards. It's so soft. Wearing it really does feels like a "high-end" experience
I thrift most of my clothes from the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop. There are in California, Ohio, Washington, Iowa, Michigan and Virginia. They only take good quality clothes and everything is is great shape.
I was the same way about cashmere until I was “influenced “. The softness is so cozy. Now I do love them and slowly but surely I’m building my collection.
I certainly agree on the handbag. You have it for years. One black one brown and maybe a cream for summer. I also live in Florida, clearwater, and I have a great coat I have been wearing for years. It's cashmere and wool blend and still soft. And looks new-maybe because it doesn't get too much wear in Florida.
So interesting! Maybe I do! I find most wools to be super itchy, but there are a handful that don't... I want to say the angora? That might be wrong. But I'm intrigued thank you! ❤️
I have a cleaning lady and absolutely love her. When we built this house I told my husband, you want that big house? You can clean it or hire someone, but don’t look at me. Now we have our cleaning lady.
I am hard on everyday jewelry because I don’t take it off. I wear sterling silver and 14/18k gold (white rose and gold). I also prefer channel set gemstones. I always lose gemstones if they were prong set. The grab will eventually get loosen resulting in stones being dislodged and missing.
yes! leather belts are certainly essential in my wardrobe. For me I think only leather would last unless it's a belt that I only want to style occasionally and non-functional. I have this weird shape that most of my jeans fit well on the hips, but not on the waist, so I need belt to cinch them in. my good old leather belts have last years and years without falling apart. They weren't even from high-end brands or pricey.
I did buy one cashmere sweaters that is kind f itchy. So I bought a white long sleeve t shirt to wear under it. I have many other cashmere sweaters that don’t itch at all. I may try to wash it again and see if that helps.
You mentioned Quince cashmere, but not their jewelry; I have both. I absolutely LOVE my 14k rings from Quince, one with little diamonds, one without, and the 14k paperclip necklace. I mix & match them with my mom's wedding ring, a sterling silver ring I had made with a hawk embossed on the surface, a plain silver ring, and a 14k rose shaped ring with a little diamond in the center that I bought online from Goodwill. I'm looking at a Quince carryon bag and love my thin packable down-filled hoodie coat for spring/fall. I've found they run a bit on the snug side, by the way.
Love this video, your make up looks awesome & love that necklace, love all these outfits! I also have a long tweed brown coat, I like to wear from fall to winter, goes with my black pants/dark jeans & tan.
I love your videos 🎉 i can tell you that for me it has been a big challenge keep my closest simple 😂 i have so many clothes that i buy and then I don’t ever wear 😢 your videos are helping me a lot! I will say that a good quality of beige linen it has been a piece that I always go to and it’s a great option for any casual occasion.God bless
I never regret buying classic items in silk, cashmere or merino, cotton, linen or genuine leather. High-quality, thicker manmade cellulosic fabrics like Lyocell can be great, too, they breathe, unlike synthetics. Wearing silk was a revelation to me after decades of suffering skin rashes, sweating and overheating in polyester, never again! Nor acrylic, nylon, etc., life’s too short to be miserable in one’s clothes and accessories. No skinny, high heeled or pointed-toe shoes, either, 2-2.5 “ block heels are all I ever need. I love these because they’re comfortable and they give me the extra height I crave. I feel bad for women in the public eye, like the Princess of Wales, who feel they have to wear 4-5” heeled, pointy-toed pumps everyday. I haven’t seen a real woman actually wear shoes like that here in San Francisco since the early 90s, and even then, it was very rare. People here just mocked them for their pretentiousness and the grim looks of pain on the wearer’s face!
My "Have to Have & don't regret" are : Knit blazer, jean skirt, jean jacket, hoodie, a soft great quality (Faherty) flannel shirt, a cardigan.. Also the items you mentioned.
How do i make decisions about what to purchase? It's like i go shoppjng and see so much i like and fits well its hard to narrow down everything. I have this issue. Like how many chambray shirts do I need? They're all different colors and i like them all some light some dark lol. Same with white button down shirts some linen some oversized some fitted and ends up being too much lol. Advice??
In the photo of your long camel coat, it looks like you still have the "X" stitch on the bottom of the back vent. You are supposed to cut this off. It is not decoration. It is just to hold it together during shipping so the vent doesn't get stretched out or wrinkled. If you don't cut it, the coat doesn't move correctly when you move. Not sure if you didn't know this or if you just forgot. Many people are not aware of this - you should make a public service announcement. What are friends for? ??❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ty Anna. Can you please let me know what the exact jeans are that you have on with the white button down in the beginning of the video and then the pair of jeans you have on with the striped top and your cream colored songmont bag. Also when I clicked on the Abercrombie link for the the ultra highrise 90s jeans. There were several different styles in those jeans. They have a loose fit, straight leg, a relaxed leg etc. Can you tell me wich ones you have? I have a lot of A&F trousers and love them because I can order talls. I still have to get a songmont bag. I have many of the Quince cashmere sweaters and I love them. I was told that the pronunciation for Quince rhymes with prince. But don't quote me on that one. I really enjoyed this video.❤
Alaskan here 👋 , we also have lots of coats. But I just wanted to add, im a lady that doesnt really care for purses. So I have bought a few great wallets. That I just have in my coat pockets.
I am a cashmere snob. If it comes to a choice of eating or buying cashmere, then cashmere it is. My daughter in law is a journalist on TV and I’ve convinced her to invest in cashmere. Of course, I live vicariously through her and am constantly sending her cool and pretty cashmere sweaters. She loves them.
I tend to get in a rut with jewelry, having a few items I wear on repeat. A necklace/pendent or medium or heavy weight chain, a small pair of gold hoops I wear everyday unless I swap them out for an outfit specific pair of earrings. I find real gold or silver is worth the investment as it ages better than costume/plastic pieces. The last several years I have tended to wear a particular padded vest (olive green) during the winter as a standard layering piece. I live in Georgia, and when I visit my sister in Florida for the holidays, I rarely need a winter coat. The vest and occasionally a cardigan are usually sufficient for warmth and a final layer. This year/season I expanded the olive green neutral vest with similar ones in navy and red. A leather belt has long been a finishing item for my outfits. Leather belts last forever with a little care, and are so classic they go with anything. I have skinny ones (inch wide or less, in white, black, brown/tan), medium (1.5"-2.5"). I also have a straw belt or two for summer.
I cannot live without my Motorcycle jacket, it is buttery soft now from years of wear. I always get compliments on it every time I wear it. I love cashmere too.
Anna I wish I was tall like you. I tried so many wide leg jeans and I love the way the waist and hip/butt area looks but because I am short the legs look so big on me. I thought about getting them tapered a bit but I just don't know.
Where is the denim top from that you're wearing? It looks so nice with a hint of shimmer or something. Can you please post what you're wearing in the comments? It's a fashion vlog after all :)
Okay, this might sound crazy, but if you really love the black dress that you got bleach on, if the area is small enough, try a black Sharpie and color in the spot. 😁 Is cashmere washable? I'm over dry cleaning. If I can't wash it myself, I don't buy it.
For me, it's an awesome pair of black boots. I actually have quite a few pairs of black boots in different styles, but everyone should have at least one great pair of black boots.
5:49-5:54: I would advocate adding a FABULOUS pair of sunglasses: no mascara, no eye concealer, and the upper part of my face has an accessory on it until I can dab on those items😅
@ANNAREID29 I swear almost every video THE piece I fall in love with and am interested in sourcing...is the one you don't link (likely because it's older or no longer available)...that said...can you PLEASE advise where that denim shirt at 2:31 came from? Nicest one I've seen. Tks. Hope you see this..........
Quince rhymes with Vince or Since, but with the first consonant Q (kw), not K. I love the lighter weight of Quince’s cashmere; thicker cashmere can be too warm for my climate. I find all wool and cashmere itchy, so I wear a silk jersey tee underneath, they’re thin, soft and breathable. (No brand affiliation).
Agreed with everything! Great list! But I do regret buying good plates jewelry. A waste of money. It will fade. And I don't want to throw away even $30.
A friend who is always looking flawless (hair and face). However no matter what she wears, she uses the same bag. She doesn’t change bag unless the old one falls apart. I always want to gift her handbags because it drives me crazy lol
Hey Anna! Great list. A few years ago I decided to invest in every day real jewelry. I bought sets from Lagos, Marco Bicego and a few other brands that cost a lot more than I would normally spend. I’m in my 40’s and decide it was time to elevate my style with every day gold and silver earrings and necklaces. I also bought a few designer watches. Well as expensive as it all was, it was absolutely worth every penny. I will throw on one of two of these pieces every time I head out. They are timeless pieces and go with all my outfits without me having to think about it. I chose some pieces with mixed gold and silver together so I don’t even have to worry if I needed to choose gold or silver for the outfit. It’s been 4 years since then and I haven’t had to upgrade those pieces since they are timeless work horses. Costume jewelry is great for fun trends and parties and I do still enjoy wearing them- but those investment pieces are the glue that elevates the every day look and pulls it all together. ❤
I love belts, but only in genuine leather. One only need buy them once, in a classic style and color, because they last forever. I still love and wear my first belt that l bought over 40 years ago, in a tan braided leather. I always bought Medium-sized ones, in case of weight gain as I get older. But, I’m actually much thinner at age 63 than I was at 43. So long as I slow down on the Nacho Cheese Doritos I’m munching on right now! I’m selling a Ralph Lauren “genuine leather” belt I got a few years ago, they didn’t mention that it’s lined with thick, inflexible plastic. I should have sent it right back, but I didn’t realize it until I tried to wear it, it’s awful. I hate it when originally good brands like this go to PlasticTown, I used to love Ralph Lauren. Not anymore.
Hey, sometimes a good bag of Doritos is what we need at that moment 🤣 I agree with the belts - many will slapa that "genuine leather" tag on there and don't disclose that it's not ALL leather...
Can you do a good vegan leather purse finds video. I get it, leather lasts for years but GOOD and well made vegan leather can be beautiful. Just don’t want to buy leather items. Love your style and I think you can find really stylish well made options.
Yes, always hold onto a few really good pieces! I have a 100% wool Banana Republic sweater vest from the 1980s. It's better quality than anything I can find today!
I think less is more when it comes to handbags. I just gave away all my cheap ones that I got from Amazon. I have five really nice handbags and that’s all I really need. I could probably only get away with using three of them. As a society, I think Americans are very spoiled and we have way too much. I’ve really began to cut down on my wardrobe and my things I’m 68 and I don’t really need a lot because I don’t go out much anymore.😊
To everyone: if cashmere is your jam, please consider thrifting. The demand for cashmere is so high now that cashmere goats are doing major destruction to grasslands with over-grazing and their hooves tearing up topsoil. They are a major contributor to desertification in China and Mongolia, which in turn is having a major climate impact. Please consider secondhand for your cashmere!
You and many influencers are into stripes. I bought one collared black and white stripe sweater. That’s it/ it will disappear soon! These coat options are ridiculously expensive! All over $350 up to $650? Who just tosses on a coat that is this expensive like it’s a jean jacket- rich people. Given this economy- time to move along to more affordable options!!
I hate how coat styles change. I have a few shorter “dress coats” and NOW long coats are in. I bought ONE but no more because THEY will be out of style in 3, 4 or 5 years 😡
I don't think the shorter coats are necessarily "out" - they just aren't as popular right now but they aren't out of style. I would not replace that coat if you still love it ❤️❤️
I have about 16 pairs of Angela Scott shoes and I have zero regrets. I also have a trusty Athleta leather coat that will be with me forever. I will never buy faux/vegan leather again. It’s trash, all of it and eventually wears down.
Thank you to HOMEAGLOW for sponsoring this video! Head to www.homeaglow.com/annareid to get your first 3 hours of cleaning for only $19!
I’m I the only one who loves the “cheering”👏🏽🎉sound effect you use in your videos???
When I get bleach on black, I color it in with a Sharpie. Especially if it’s something I love so much!
Great tip. Clothing dye is also worth trying.
I have done that with scuffed black shoes or boots.
Aha! I thought I was the only one! I do it especially for my black boots if they have nicks or stripped

Fellow Canadian...I have 5 puffer jackets! Different colours and lengths, love them all. 8 months of winter!!
Leather belts are always worth the investment. I've done the 'fashion' pleather belts only to have them crack and peel.
Belts, classic handbags, shoes and jackets are the most expensive but longest running items in rotation in my closet. When you get good ones they can last with some TLC and styles always come back!
Agreed! ❤️❤️
Great roundup, Anna. I never regret buying a great lipstick that’s easy to throw on without a mirror and instantly adds some life to my face.
That is a good one!!! Same! ❤️❤️
Much love 😘

I do too, being tall I’ve found mens denim fits me better and they’re generally all cotton. My most favourite cashmere, wool, and silk pieces are men’s.
Men's jeans and trousers are also great for those of us who have a straighter body shape.

Please do a video on everyday jewelry!
Completely agree with the good handbag tip. Good bag, good shoes are key. A $3 thrifted dress looks like a million bucks if you have good shoes and a good bag.

Me too! Having champagne taste doesn’t mean, if you can afford it, that you have to….
The fashion editors tell us we should put our money in good accessories, shoes and handbags. It is possible to look expensive wearing an inexpensive dress with high quality accessories. The opposite isn't really true.
This is so true! ❤️

Yup. Dollar store reading glasses are not going to add to outfits unless you are in bed wearing pjs.

Hey neighbor! ❤️ Love this!
I thrift most of my clothes from the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop. There are in California, Ohio, Washington, Iowa, Michigan and Virginia. They only take good quality clothes and everything is is great shape.
Black dress fav, you can always try black Ritz dye to repair the bleach spot.
I was the same way about cashmere until I was “influenced “. The softness is so cozy. Now I do love them and slowly but surely I’m building my collection.
It’s in a category of its own! ❤️

It is time for you take another look at wool. It is temperature regulating and my favorite fabric year round here in Florida.
So interesting! Maybe I do! I find most wools to be super itchy, but there are a handful that don't... I want to say the angora? That might be wrong. But I'm intrigued thank you! ❤️

Feel better.
Hi Anna, If you love the black dress that has bleach marks, you should take the chance and get some black RIT dye...what do you have to lose?
You mentioned Quince cashmere, but not their jewelry; I have both. I absolutely LOVE my 14k rings from Quince, one with little diamonds, one without, and the 14k paperclip necklace. I mix & match them with my mom's wedding ring, a sterling silver ring I had made with a hawk embossed on the surface, a plain silver ring, and a 14k rose shaped ring with a little diamond in the center that I bought online from Goodwill. I have never tried their jewelry! I'll have to check that out! ❤️
Love this video, your make up looks awesome & love that necklace, love all these outfits! I also have a long tweed brown coat, I like to wear from fall to winter, goes with my black pants/dark jeans & tan.
Agree love Quince cashmere sweaters ❤ not thick yet perfect for most seasons.
Yes! Great value ❤️

U could put a black marker on the dress too !
It was unfortunately beyond repair 😫
@ANNAREID29 Really wow also don't forget black dye rids if you haven't got rid of it yet
Amen on the cashmere! Also wool socks and even wool shoes (Allbirds)! Game changers!!

Yes those do need to be cut! Those are some videos from when I had just purchased the coat and had not yet cut the x. (It has long since been cut 🤣)

The brown dress @6:48…Where’s it from??!!
Yes to all these. White shirts also. There are lots of hacks on the internet to keeping them white.
Great advice. Thank you!
Alaskan here 👋 , we also have lots of coats. But I just wanted to add, im a lady that doesnt really care for purses. So I have bought a few great wallets. That I just have in my coat pockets.
Just wondering if you have a link for that dress in the beginning of the video. Thank you again for a great video, I always learn some thing.
Thanks. 🙏 great job.
Thank you Anna❤
Agree 100% with you !!! And Cashmere is my favorite !
❤️❤️❤️
Can you link the trousers or are they a regret?
I also have a straw belt or two for summer.
i think what you mean is cashmere is breathable fabric 😊like linen
Breathable! Why wasn't my brain working when I made this video 🤣❤️❤️
My local Burlingame has great handbags at good prices 😊
I cannot live without my Motorcycle jacket, it is buttery soft now from years of wear. I always get compliments on it every time I wear it. I love cashmere too.
Moto jackets just never go out of style! I love that they give such an edgy look ❤️❤️
Plz make a video on essential handbags which will never go out of fashion.
Anna I wish I was tall like you. I tried so many wide leg jeans and I love the way the waist and hip/butt area looks but because I am short the legs look so big on me. I thought about getting them tapered a bit but I just don't know.
Great topic for the video! Would you be able to provide info or a link for the collared sweater that you’re wearing at the 5:52 and 6:45 mark?
Where is the denim top from that you're wearing? It looks so nice with a hint of shimmer or something. Can you please post what you're wearing in the comments? It's a fashion vlog after all :)
Great segment, thank you!
Glad you liked it! ❤️
@@ANNAREID29 I've been working on my basic, wearable wardrobe after many years of working in retail. A new me! Your videos are very helpful!
You are never a frazzled mess.
Great video as always!
Glad you enjoyed, Victoria! ❤️
My thrifted jeans and my denim jacket are my forever pieces.
I could never ever ever have a capsule wardrobe even though i want one i think it would simplify my life
Okay, this might sound crazy, but if you really love the black dress that you got bleach on, if the area is small enough, try a black Sharpie and color in the spot. 😁
Is cashmere washable? I'm over dry cleaning. If I can't wash it myself, I don't buy it.
I love the brownish satin pants you are wearing in the belt portion of the video, where did you get them please ?
They look like the ones online from Lily Silk.
I would add a great quality pair of white jeans and a denim jacket. Both have saved me when I’m just not feeling super confident
I LOVE my white jeans. I agree, they do something that no other pant can! ❤️
For me, it's an awesome pair of black boots. I actually have quite a few pairs of black boots in different styles, but everyone should have at least one great pair of black boots.
True!! ❤️❤️❤️
BTW I enjoy your videos.
You look gorgeous today love the lipstick
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Very good advice. I hate jeans, but if you are a jean person do invest in a good pair that aren't trendy.
Cashmere is awesomeness
Haha Yes! ❤️❤️
A friend who is always looking flawless (hair and face). However no matter what she wears, she uses the same bag. She doesn’t change bag unless the old one falls apart. I always want to gift her handbags because it drives me crazy lol
What is vegan leather ? Is it made of veges.
Hi Anna. 😅😅
Vegan leather doesn't exist either it is leather or it isn't😂
Hey Anna!
Gold filled is better than gold plated. It lasts longer.
Yes! I have also found that double gold plated lasts a very long time (I haven't had any of those pieces tarnish yet!) ❤️
I've just realised today that my 25-year-old black Bottega Veneta handbag, shaped like a gondola, is totally on trend 😅
Yes, always hold onto a few really good pieces! I have a 100% wool Banana Republic sweater vest from the 1980s. It's better quality than anything I can find today!
That bag sounds gorgeous!
Anna you are adorable. Let’s be best friends. No jokes.
The plating has rubbed off Anna
❤❤❤
WHO would ever regret buying a good handbag; or handbags for that matter😅
i regretted spending money on fake jewelry. i even regret that i bought 8k, 9k and 10k pieces.
A black marker can hide some bleach spots.
Less is definitely more for sure! For me it's about the overwhelm when I look at my closet - less choices make getting dressed so much easier ❤️
That bleach stain in your dress is probably from whitening toothpaste.
Does that happen?? 🤦♀️
