- You are more successful than you think... but your perspective is wrong. If you're an artist, a music producer, an engineer, or any sort of musician looking to build a career in this but you feel stuck, here is some advice for you. As someone who's been doing this for a long time, I may not have the level of success I sought to have by this age in my life, but I can say that once I changed the way I looked at my overall accomplishments and the things I've been able to do, I realized that I am a lot more successful than I give myself credit for. And if I'm doing that to myself, I know there are countless people out there who also could be doing the same thing. If you really want to learn how to be a successful musician and how to get a successful music career, the answer lies in your own past. Because you're probably already there. You just don't realize it.

The small steps, in my honest opinion… at least in my life, are often THE most important steps to appreciate. Those incremental things. It’s almost like someone crawling with their last bit of energy across a finish line. Huge strides are great but to the persons struggling almost there, & barely about to make it, those small little incremental steps forward often make the biggest differences and have the most lasting changes on someone’s (my) life. We have to stop and reflect to see that not everything is just a bad failure but another step forward. Fail forward as they say. But forward motion is always a win in my book. 🙏🏾

In this day and time, we ALL need this message so very badly, this reminder...I'm constantly trying to remind myself to be kinder to me and celebrate what I've done so far. I literally was just giving myself a pep talk while trying to EQ vocals for over 2 hrs and still not getting it to where i want it. I finally walked away from it without throwing my ipad across the room ...this time lol. As musicians and creators we often times forget to do this because we're so caught up in attaining perfection or we're so caught up in comparison. It's too easy to get in this rut, partly cause you often don't notice it. I didn't till you shook me back into perspective.
Really, I have a lot to be proud of.
I've got 6 releases out there (that I wrote, produced, recorded, mix/masterd and drew artwork for myself)
I also got an album on the way, 3 years of experience making music, loving support from family and friends, and I'm always getting better.
It's way too easy to forget that though, because "I'm not that good", and "I'm not where I want to be."

Thank you for this video. I am actually starting my music career journey today and it was so encouraging to see where you started from, as I’m starting in a similar uncomfortable predicament.
Also, I remember we were in the same dropshipping program so I totally get where you’re coming from. It’s funny that you didn’t consider your Shopify store a success, because I always thought it was! Lol I think I sold one $3 product when I had mine 😅 after sinking $500+ into Facebook ads back then 😂. I can laugh about it now, but back then I was pissed because initially that was supposed to be a stepping stone to music. Since then I’ve been using multiple failed stepping stones & my full time job as an excuse for why I can’t just do music right now. I recently came to the conclusion that I’m just going to do what I can with what I already have and officially start this journey. This was confirmation for me, so thank you releasing this. Hope you have a wonderful birthday and I’m happy to see all you have accomplished for yourself! Stay the course, you are well on your way to accomplishing your goals.
What’s crazy is I’ve been going through a lot of my old videos this month just feeling nostalgic and wanting to learn from who I was in the past and what I was doing and a few of your comments popped up, it’s crazy how long you’ve been around! So I have to say I appreciate that.
Also I did very much consider it a success back then for about a year and a half, it’s the reason I was able to travel so much but I hit 1 season of a downturn after a competitor stole my ads and sold at cheaper prices, I sunk my whole savings into it because of that and had to start driving Grubhub to make my money back. So I had a major failure at the end of it but crazily enough… it was THAT very thing that caused me to pick up RUclips full time again and making music here and now looking back I can see how even that was a path to success hidden in negative experience. We just have to look at things in newer ways! That’s all it is. Fresh eyes.
