      Waited and waited to pull the plug on this and so glad I did. It’s an awesome piece of fitness equipment that complements my C2 model C rower that I purchased 22 years ago and have racked up 23 million meters on. Just like with the rower, it’s obvious from the get-go that the bikeerg is built to last...bravo Concept 2!

      pat the trucker Sitting at work all day and waiting to get back home to do 20K. In most years I bike outdoors typically 1K annually at least and this will fill the gap on rain, hot, cold or windy days as I prep myself to visit places like Madison, WI where I want to perform 40-50 mile single rides this summer.
      I can’t imagine a Peloton being better than the BikeErg...not for 3X the cost. Have already talked it up to friends who saw my bike and have been seeking out the Peloton for a future purchase.
      I put my iPhone holder on top of the PM5 and watch highlights from the Amgen Tour of California and off I go...

    The current seat is different than the one in the video. If you want to use your own bicycle
    saddle like me, you'll need a long narrow 12 point 14mm wrench to access the bolt from the back.

    The Concept2 bike is in a different category than a fan bike with arms. The Assault bike and the Schwinn Pro bike can be compared as apples to apples. But the Concept2 bike is like apples to oranges compared to the other two. The Concept2 bike should be compared to other stationary bikes without arms, like the Keiser or Stages or Wattbike. Of course even this may be apples to oranges because Kaiser and Stages and other quality stationary bikes use magnetic resistance. Even Wattbike, whose models up till now use both fan and magnetic resistance combined, has announced a new model with only magnetic resistance. The Concept2 bike is in its own category with no competition. Its best features: quality company, proven technology for its monitor, which can be used for accurate comparison between workouts and between riders, fair price and its fan. The faster you pedal, the harder it gets (more resistance). With magnetic resistance, your cadence (how fast you pedal) is independent of the resistance. Lots of choices.

      I agree that all of the bikes mentioned are different, however, for most people watching this, they aren't looking to purchase the BikeErg, WattBike, Spin Bike, and an Airdyne. Most will want one, which is what I tried to hit most in this video. If you check the review on the site, you'll see I speak to this issue in more depth. There are more great options now than ever for the broad category of stationary bikes, but I'm a big fan of the BikeErg.

    Great review. Was on the fence between this and the AD Pro, which I tried at a friend's house and loved, but this pretty much convinced me that the BikeErg might be better for my needs. I'm honestly just interested in purchasing a quality piece of equipment with low maintenance to improve my overall cardio and cycling (on the side of my weightlifting), and this seems to fit the bill. Good job!

  • @fg786

    Why choose this one instead of a normal bike ergometer, which it basically is apart from generating resistance differently? Is this thing louder than the general bike ergometer? I'm kind of indecisive. I like the idea of moving the whole body that airbikes provide and wouldn't mind the noise then. But if this is only a bike, then why nother with the noise?
    In another review someone mentioned, that the wind is blowing up only on the lfet knee area. Was this annoying for you? I'm only wearing short pants while training.
    Is it really "impossible" to get low intensity levels on the airbikes with arm movement? That is somewhat the only thing that would deter me from getting one instead of the Concept 2 bikeerg.

    While I love my C2 rowing erg, I don’t see a use case for the bikeerg. As a cyclist I don‘t see a reason why I should get the C2 bikeerg. It sells for the same price as for example a Wahoo Kickr. These smart trainers have the huge advantage that they can be controlled in resistance by apps like Zwift. This is not possible with the C2 bikeerg. So what is their USP?

  • @chaknorris1000

    Is the absence of the fore/aft seat adjustment going to be an issue? I understand that the handle bar is adjustable however, the positioning of the pedal relative to a person's height could be a problem for some people, that's why spin bikes have this adjustment feature. What about sweat dripping directly on the flyweel assembly? I've also noted a lot of plastic parts which could easily degrade over time with heavy use (e.g. gym or fitness centre).

    • @GarageGymReviews
      @GarageGymReviews  7 лет назад

      The seat adjustment is not an issue. It was easy for everyone who used the bike to get adjusted quickly. Sweat on the flywheel is not something I'd worry about. The SkiErg has had sweat drip all over it without issue.

    • @chaknorris1000
      @chaknorris1000 7 лет назад

      Appreciate your response. I take it that the plastic parts are of durable quality?

    • @GarageGymReviews
      @GarageGymReviews  7 лет назад

      Yes. I cannot stress enough how durable Concept 2 products are. They get beat in CrossFit gyms across the world yet keep performing with hardly any maintenance.

    • @johnlvs2run
      @johnlvs2run 5 лет назад +2

      "The SkiErg has had sweat drip all over it without issue." No. That is not right.
      You don't drip sweat on the Skierg, because you're standing in front of the machine, not on top of it.
      Therefore, all the perspiration goes down to the floor, and none of it gets on the fan cage.

    The standard seat has changed and is terrible now, flat on top, with open sides and sharp edges that cut right into the sitz bones when cycling. You'll need to buy your own saddle elsewhere, and a 12 point long narrow wrench to access the bolt from a narrow space in the back. The 14mm wrench can only move a point at a time, but eventually the seat can be changed.

  • @beatleapostle
    @beatleapostle 7 лет назад +9

    It is not true that "if you turn the damper down to 1 it's pretty much like a a free spinning bike".
    In fact when you turn the damper down to 1 it's pretty difficult to pedal. I am conditioned from riding a stationary bike regularly, and I find that there is no warm up or cool down zone. I called Concept 2 who said they are working on this issue and expect to have a solution in the next month or so. The Concept 2 rep told me I should just pedal slower for warm up and cool down - that's bogus. Also, the PM5 will not indicate miles, only kilometers - that's bogus too. It's a very well made machine and I don't regret buying it. I just hope they fix the resistance.

    • @GarageGymReviews
      @GarageGymReviews  7 лет назад +4

      I have no issues when the damper is at 1, it's very easy to spin.

    • @beatleapostle
      @beatleapostle 7 лет назад +2

      Your review and reply would have more credibility if you would measure the resistance differences between the various machines instead of your seeming infomercial for C2. Incidentally, I have a C2 rower which I think is perfect, and I think the C2 company is great, which is why I bought this machine. I ride a Star Trac stationary bike three times a week for one hour at my gym. But I can only ride my C2 stationary bike for 20 minutes, all on the #1 setting. I'm sure it's easy for you. It wouldn't be easy for a novice. And besides, like I said, C2 acknowledges that something needs to be altered to make it easier to pedal on the #1 setting. The C2 rep told me they are looking at altering the perforated band on the outside of the fan. I trust the C2 company to do the right thing. So I'm not complaining about them. But I think your review falls short. Just keeping it real.

    • @GarageGymReviews
      @GarageGymReviews  7 лет назад +6

      I've had novices on the bike without any issues pedaling at a damper of 1. I'll be on the lookout for your review.

      I learned after I bought my skierg not to buy their first model. I bought the skierg and stand and about 6 months later they came out with the vastly improved model. I had to sew the wrist straps in place b/c they'd come undone. Kind of annoying. Would be nice if they'd at least cut you a nice deal on the new model if you bought the inferior model...

    • @GarageGymReviews
      @GarageGymReviews  7 лет назад +2

      That is unfortunate, but that's how products are. We buy cell phones knowing full well that a new improved one is going to release in a years time. It would be cool for them to offer some sort of discount though.

    The skierg sucks, bro. Save a thousand dollars and do ball slams and battle rope.

      Phil Ivey or you can just put the rower upside down against the wall and use it as a skierg. It works really well we tried this in our gym.

      both guys .. your ideas damn :) what about these bikes which one?

    I've never used this bike but I'm apprehensive. Firstly, if it's for cyclists, then there should be some way of changing the resistance while cycling as cycling is all about hills and flats, not like rowing where the resistance of the water to the oars is always the same. Next, you don't say you can pedal backwards, which is a good alternative movement for your quads.
    But most of all, I like elliptical bikes where you have a push pull aspect as well, for your upper body. Concept 2 is popular in gyms, but this bike is missing a lot in this case as it's legs only.

      There are actually multiple pronunciations for the world niche. American Heritage and Webster's Dictionary list them.
