Hi Matthew, thanks for the comment. I've always included the forgiveness side of things in one form or other as unless you are an elite golfer, how a club handles the miss strikes is by far more important than concentrating on the pure ones..... Glad you agree and enjoyed thd content 👍
Amazing level of detail and relevance to assist with buying a new driver. Especially off hits and whether it is relevant to everyday average players. Keep up the great work.
TSR2 was the only driver to kick my 2016 M2 out of my bag. Was custom fit in Feb. for it and it had the best feel/sound, and on average it had the highest ball speed and smash factor. It wont be leaving my bag anytime soon, at least for 4-5 years.
I just got fitted for the tsr2 with the same shaft as you hitting - looking forward to the game on sunday - was getting it out to 285 yards with a tp5 ball and dispersion was tight on the left
You should review the TSR4. You will be surprised. It can fit a lot more people than the previous versions. Likely due to the VFT. I use a 4, I saw much better consistency vs the 3 and way smaller dispersion, especially front to back than the 2.
Been playing the TSR2 since it launched last year. Same Hzrdus shaft head set at 8.75 and haven't found anything else that matches in terms of Distance & forgiveness for me. ~12 launch and 2200 spin for me
Jay, Can you please explain how on one of your shots: backspin--1465, side spin--166 equals a total of 1474? This was pretty consistent when side spin + back spin did not equal total spin.
Hi Brian, it's a complex equation built around the spin axis of the ball also. So total spin is the complete spin amount, now side spin is a measure of tilt axis so doesn't work into a direct addition to backspin to get total spin. However if you think of the backspin component is the part which dictates trajectory climb based component and then the side spin as the curvature, although the side spin is directly related to tilt axis of the ball. I always work on backspin and tilt axis and largely ignore total spin as its too difficult for most people to separate and get their heads around it 👍
What I’m struggling with is your club head speed is 108mph and you get 311yds total carry. Michael Newton testing the exact same driver - his club head speed is 113.6mph, yet his total carry is only 308yds. The numbers don’t add up. Surely 5mph faster swing speed should equate to greater distance?
In its raw form absolutely but there is a big difference between raw speed and efficient ball flight dynamics. For instance sometimes on the World Long Drive Championships the winner isn't the one with the fastest club head speed, but the person who was able to launch the golf ball on a specific launch window with the correct amount of backspin etc to get the best carry and descent angle roll out. I can get my head speed up at 113 and then hit it further but, as I'm continuing to do and much more so recently, is try go reduce my review speed a little so more golfers can relate to the numbers given, since most golfers don't swing a driver at 100mph + Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍🏻
Not necessarily unless you need a different fitting to that of when you got your TSI2. You may well find that the new head and shaft combination could unlock some extra flight gains and also dispersion consistency depending on the needs now compared to your original fitting 👍
I went back and forth between the STZ230 and the STX230, but after all the testing. The STZ230 is in there. Will be hoping to do a What's In the Bag video soon 👍
This club is literally a rocket launcher. Explodes off the fast with ball speeds so high I’m shocked this head conforms. Easily best driver of the year
As always a great club review, as someone else commented I’m not sure there is better in terms of club review. Gonna buy a new driver shortly. Have a swing speed between 101 and 105 depending on the day and my miss is in the heel (never the toe). TSR 2,3 or Ping 430 Max or LST?
If its heel, I'd probably suggest the Ping, difficult to beat especially from heel miss hits. But the TSR will be longer, so if you can get your miss off the heel and onto the toe section then I'd say it could be neck and neck between them. 👍
@AskGolfNut haha okay. I'm anxious for the tsr3 video! I mostly bought the tsr3 over the tsr2 because of looks. I like the more pear shape of a driver than the more modern look (I'm coming from a taylormade r510 😅).
Great and thorough review as always 👍This looked scarily low-spinning on many of the shots - like way under 2.000 - which as I understand it will exacerbate the incurred sidespin, sending it more offline than if it had maintained a more healthy backspin. And with the sidespin being as unpredictable as it apparently is, I'm not so sure this is as good as I thought... 😳 Will be interesting to see how TSR3 performs. 🧐
Hi Niels, I do like the TSR3 (not sure when the video will come out either tomorrow or Tuesday evening, Live Streaming tomorrow so probably Tuesday), but would possibly on balance play the TSR2. Just need more time dialling it in. May even up the loft a little to try and raise baseline spin a touch.....
Just sent my back. I so desperately wanted it to improve on my TSi2 but sadly, it was less forgiving, and at least 15 yards shorter. Same shaft, same settings. I bought it as I felt I wouldn't need a custom fit. I have an Even Flow 5.5 hand crafted shaft. Frustrated. Now may have to go get fitted to try Qi10, Ping G430, Paradym.
Golf is funny, I found this was the easiest driver I've ever hit......so I bought it for $600.......And I had no problem handing over the cash for what I'm getting.
A lot of people could never justify spending that type of sum on one club, but if you could and it's worked great, I'm glad you have found something that does everything you want it to do 👍🏻👍🏻
I love my TSR2…best driver I have ever owned…long and forgiving
All the other RUclips reviewers discount the mis-hits, that's the most important thing for me, how does a club handle mis-hits. Finally found it!

Great review Jason. Your videos are top notch with screen shots you add and how you comply with requests from the community 👍
Thanks Dave for the very kind feedback. Please call me Jay, haven't been called Jason since I was told off by my mum as an 8 year old 😂😂

The consistency of the spin numbers on misses is incredible

Yeh baby, why am I so excited about a driver review 😮
Wait until TSR3 then 😉
Pls compare TSR4with the TSR2. I’d like to see launch angle data with the same shaft and your swings
Another great review 👍🏻
Wonderful host and channel
Thank you very much for the kind feedback 👍🏻

Game 8° TSR2 and TSI3. Will see sub 2K with TSR2, but launch 13 or better. Similar to 3 head. Just like the heel help with 2
Strong launch numbers they are 👍
Great video. Back in the market and coming from TSI2 - should I expect any modest improvements? Tnx

Great video. My miss is a slice off the toe with some cut spin, I don't think the TSR2 sounds right for me 😢
How does it compare with the Ping G430 you tested a few months ago ? Mostly interested in forgiveness
I'd steer towards the G430 then Robert, as the Ping will still win that battle, but the TSR has it on distance 👍
What driver is in your bag for this season Jay?
I went back and forth between the STZ230 and the STX230, but after all the testing. The STZ230 is in there. Will be hoping to do a What's In the Bag video soon 👍

Which would you say is more forgiving the TSR 2 or the Mizuno STX 230
STX230 for stability, the TSR2 may just pip it on distance due to a slightly lower spin profile, but that can help or hinder depending on the golfer 👍

Really looking more at the tsr2
It's definitely between that and the TSR3 for me, although possibly on balance I'd go TSR2 👍
Tsr2, 8*, Tensei black 1k stiff👌
@AskGolfNut what do you mean by balance?
You'll have to wait for the TSR3 video and the forgiveness side for a full and proper response 😊 this comment section isn't large enough 🤣🤣

No everyone your all wrong its a terrible driver (at least for the next 24 hours) I’m bidding on one on ebay so we need no one else to bid 🤣😜🤪

Which Wally is gonna complain the plastic wrapper on the bottom might effect the numbers 😂😂
It came off anyway as I was testing it........Someone will complain the CG of the head has changed mid test 😂👍😂

One that can very easily have serious money spent on it.... All the new stuff just looks soooo nice 😊😊
Got one it’s bloody awesome your work is exemplary maybe the best on tube 👨🏻🦳⛳️🏌🏼♂️👩🦳
