Ah, but Baldemort, such absolutely classic reading has several layers as well, and profound resonance throughout life. I initially scorned Sun Tzu as a teenager when, spying it on the rack at the bookstore was filled with some revulsion at the small print on the back cover about how it was "the high-powered executive's best friend, a must for jockeys of the boardroom" or some such. It was only later that I came to love it and realize it was something so much more. It all started with a question "What's happening on the other side?" Essentially broadening my horizons to start thinking of reading diverse literature about everyday interactions about the social spheres. It may help one to (that old adage) "know your enemy". Oftentimes you will find they weren't enemies at all, so to study absolute strategy classics like this may help one to suss out bad people, and inure one to their machinations! I particularly enjoy Sun Tzu, and also, this would be a fantastic little hop-skip to the island of Japan and the famous warrior and author Miyamoto Musashi and his book of strategies, "The Book of Five Rings" another classic that would absolutely electrify and synergize with a reading from you? Nicolo Machiavelli's "The Prince", too! Not to mention the way these may help any of us unaquainted with, on the tabletop! Forgive this listener for being long winded. Oh, it absolutely is! The relationship between power and speed has been termed *Dromocracy* by some dusty Continental (from the old greek word dromos, for race course/avenue). Empires rise and fall and are in large part governed by *speed*, take for instance Jaghatai's historical namesake, their horseback MASTERY allowed the speed of...no, not their warriors, fearsome as they may be, but speed of communication on the battlefield to forces! After those empires one, the speed of the trade routes they formed allowed speed of gathering diverse resources and people! Anyway, forgive long reply. Cheers, friend 👊
@@TheInundation Like any maxim, it's only THE maxim until you look at it hard enough. I'm not certain that speed of Mongol tactical battlefield communication from one side of a battlefield to the other was necessarily any more important than being an entirely professionalized and drilled army fighting those who are not. I'm not sure that it was more important than being a version of a cavalry steppe army fighting armies not used to fighting them. (it's difficult for non-steppe cavalry armies fighting them even when they have experience doing it) I'm also not certain what you think the Mongols did to speed trade routes that had been existence for centuries; they made them more secure and inviolable and some effectiveness is emergent from this, but that's not really the same thing. They arranged their conquered states primarily around providing logistics and infantry to deployed professional armies, which may appear to be some sort of generic +10% speed upgrade to a supply route but is simply an emergent phenomenon from actually considering logistics and supply to be an integral part of warfare and not an afterthought. The logistics of a steppe horse army in many cases is also far simpler to supply in many ways; Mongol armies could be fed, clothed, and partially equipped from the horses their armies were composed of; they rode their supplies and their army ate grass.

It has Flavor cutscenes for each faction (Federation, Kingon, Romulan, Cardassian, and Ferengi) to get you in the mind of the faction you'rr playing. Each of these Cutscenes have bits of Sun Tzu woven into them. My favorite is the Ferengi one. "There is no Substitute for Success. Superior Numbers are often as good as Superior Technology. In the end, any Victory is better than any Defeat."

apreciate this a lot do more its nice to listen to books ive meant to read from one of my favorite voices
Know thy self know thy enemy a thousand battles a thousand victories - sun tzu
Know thy enemy?
The inquisition would like a word
Well, to be fair, he didn;t know the word of the God Emperor at the time. :) :)
Knowledge from the age of terra will require further investigation by order hereticus... know thy enemy sounds like a radical... ;)
"Know the enemy and know yourself."
The Alpha Legion know this tenet exceptionally well. Not only does the Imperium not know the Alpha Legion's strength and location, it doesn't even know its own strengths when fighting them, thanks to the former's extensive usage of misinformation and sabotage.
The Alpha Legion doesn't know themselves though. Half the Legion are Traitors, the other half are loyalists, but nobody knows which side is which. Sometimes they don't even know they are apart of the Alpha Legion.
I could probably happily listen to you read toilet paper commercials without complaint.
Its close to that. Do not operate heavy machinery while this one is on. :) :)
DID SOMEBODY SAY TOILET PAPER!?!? GRAB IT BEFORE ITS GONE!!!
John Doe *dives on brother Dee for last bog roll*.
Lol i meant no offense brother. Just stating that i throughly enjoy all your content. ^.~
Bofa Dee none taken! I was just playing along. But this one is specifically designed to knock brothers out. I have trouble sleeping, so thought it might help others. Nothing more. :).
Do you think there are still records preserved about this book in the 40k?
The art of WAAAGH
LOL!!! Skender.
Brother Thearch, yes. But its all interwoven into the Codex Astartes anyway. :)
This is awesome, thanks for recoding this! I always wanted to read this book so this is perfect. I would love if you were to read Lord of the Rings one day.
Well, LotR we will get to at one stage. Lol. :)
Thank you for listening, as always, brother Bohdan. : )
@@Baldermort Thank you for this video, it's really nice to have awesome videos like yours in these times, they are a fantastic respite and always entertaining!
Thanks for doing this. I love this book and the book of 5 rings by Musashi.
Ah, Sun Tzu; the men who's predicted the defeat of The American in Vietnam. One of his memorable quote is
"The Supreme art of meme is to subdue the enemy without Shitposting"
by Sun Tzu (probably)
P.s there is also a song called Art of War by Sabaton and I highly recommended it.
Well done! A great divergence to mix things up and your voice is suited to it. If you had some more content like this, say readings of Machiavelli, i’de tune in every time. Great for drives or painting sessions!
Very very good. Dude, I often use your videos for noise to help me sleep. I love that you have read this, like I love it, for real!
I kind of want to see you turn into "baldermort" though. i don't know anything about youtube, but i love listening to you! i just wanna heat this and Warhammer but i never wanna see you have people commenting like "this isn't Warhammer" idk how to word that...
I know what you mean., I listen to other sites to sleep as well. Scorching insomnia at times, so I designed this one to be as relaxing as is possible. Slow, steady, to aid sleep. Its so damned important. Especially now when people are so stressed out. Its only an hour odd, so I thought it might help even a couple of people.
I do know what you mean. RUclips is viciously difficult for new people like me now, but I like to think that if it doesn;t disrupt the three vids a week then noone can complain about extras eh? :)
Thank you for listening and taking the time to comment and share your thoughts brother. :)
@@Baldermort Awesome man, I'm glad you heard me right :) keep up the good work, I think you're helping more people than you realise.
I'll try and like share and comment as much as possible :)
"I am Alpharius. You." - Sun Tzu's mysterious last words.
With a voice like yours I could read the phone book amd be interesting
"Get armed or Get farmed"
-Sun Tzu
Got to say i apprechiate a solid peice of philosophical litterature presented like this ^^ Thanks!
A most welcome surprise. Think perhaps there was an ancient copy of it in Malcador's little treasure trove?
Have to wonder if Robut Guillimen simply rediscovered this record.
Yes, someone from Warhammer reworded one of Master Sun's ideas. Because every truism of war you can EVER discover was already recorded in one book thousands of years ago.
Badass 👌👍
Good call brother!
Ahhh the Great Sun Tzu. Surpised I've missed this for so long. I do love The Art of War.
You're practically daring me to finally get a Passport, so I can come throw Greenskins at you 😅
I don't know if you've ever played the Empire Management Strategy Game "Star Trek: Birth of the Federation".
"All warfare is based on deception."
Alpharius would like to know you location.
I expect he should know it already.
Prof. Luigi yeah but he needs to pretend he doesn’t for the element of surprise
Good to see you’re reading the prototype for the codex astartes, will you do more off topic books in the future?
I am hoping to do some. But copyright is a hurdle. So it may be ancient and eclectic. But as bonuses only. Never to replace general viewing, if that makes sense. : )
Once you have read this a few times, you start spotting errors that people make and gain new understanding of the book.
This is super cool mr mort
Thanks brother Nathan. Nice bedtime story. :)
Whoa, that's unexpected. Thank you.
Ahhh, Tsun Tzu.... Like the Omnisiah of War in his wisdom sometimes... that or the Messiah of Gork... Eh both work
Yes, they do. :) ;)
Its mork the brutal and cunning
@@markschuler7384 Nah git. It's Gork who's brutally cunning
