What’s crazy is that Aura is top 50 and can beat 99.9% of all melee players in the world, yet is still so outclassed by the number 1 player. The skill gap is so absurd.
And then it’s even crazier when Zain gets outclassed at the same tournament. We have such a talented top 10

I’m thinking it’s less skill gap, moreso Zain’s ability to play into Aura’s own weaknesses. Hell, aura could just be nervous fighting him because, he’s #1.
In all seriousness he was playing really well despite getting bodied.
I don't watch a lot of melee besides like mango. but I could tell from the little things he was doing to try and claw back or just hanging in there it's rough out there.
Not 99.9% lol. More like 95% probs. Still a lot but top 50 is so fringe. There are lots of hidden bosses out there or players who just weren’t active enough in 2022. Even some dude named Zion just bodied hbox yesterday and I’ve never heard of him when I’ve followed this scene closely since 2015 lmao

what's crazy about sets like this, is that the reality that your opponent can make you play bad is so on display...like...aura clearly god like but zain mind melted them to stay and shield while he just marth movemented around it. insane

And side b is probably mostly to flex with side b 3 down spike
Marth Side B Edge guard flex has been used since the early days of M2K. Its just a style thing and not optimal but very hype.
Its also a good mixup

Dude, Zain went off so hard in this set in particular, and this might end up being one of my most favorite sets of the tournament. The style, combo sense, and EVERYTHING in between was all INSANE. Zain is my GOAT.

He is good. Caught a few stuff as I watched him play. Yes, he was styling and feeling himself. But he also has the skill to do so and still come out on top. He has great spacing in his game. Knows how to stay out of range of enemies attacks and be just out of hit box to then counter. He has strings and knows his character.
Btw, the spacing and out of range and having enemy whiff moves more often is a skill of it's own. Not everyone does that. Also to react to the enemies moves to be able to pull it off is something you need. Knowledge and reaction.

@@Thierce My experience with melee is that it doesn't take a massive skill difference to allow someone to completely dominate matches. Slightly experienced players can wipe the floor with noobs, the top 200 players can do the same with the former, and top 100 with the aforementioned, and the cream of the crop can often dab on the top 100. Aura might be good, but he is far enough for Zain to absolutely trounce unless Aura is playing out of his mind. Suddenly, this performance from Zain isn't wildly impressive, it's just a flashy skill difference showcase. If this was Leffen or Mango and Zain danced on him to this extent, then I'd be starstruck.
