Great overview! Trying to memorize: DLRX is available from lots of guards. In general, DISTANCE HELPS in setting it up. + try to get the DLR leg high on his hip + always mess with his balance Same side sleeve: 1) Tilt backwards (towards his butt) - swipe his hand out. 2) Sit up, grab his collar. Put butterfly hook on floor. Pull forward with arms, push into floor with leg (other leg blocks). Cross sleeve: 3) Quickly sit up, grab armpit material. Butterfly hook to floor again. Tuck arm, pull armpit, push into floor. 3a) (if he's stubborn/stupid and won't put leg down) Flippetyflop. Pull feet towards you to stabilize. 3b) Single leg grip, grab HIGH on his collar = OP single leg takedown. 3c) Switch left hand to back of his hip. Distribute his weight forward; use DLR leg to pry behind his knee. Move butterfly hook behind his knee = baby bolo/crab ride.
Another great video. Hope to see some more videos of this kind, based not on particular techniques but concepts of particular guards/positions - how to get into it (and prevent from escape), what we are aiming for there, how we can attack etc.
Incredible content as always, looking forward to incorporating this. Is the deep hook/lace knee at risk for injury if they grab your foot and accidently fall down with body weight on extended knee? If so, any simple thoughts to avoid injury (close distance and turn into them?)?
Great video Jon! This is a position I’m starting to get into after playing lasso and spider for awhile. I was wondering if from this position it would be good for a tripod sweep. Thanks!
DLR X is more of one of those positions you really don’t want to allow to happen cause if they are in deep the sweep is so hard to stop. I usually succeed the sweep before a good guy and immediately try to threaten the back with bolo crab stuff.
Your videos are incredible. It requires more than 13 min to embrace all the details and variations. Keep it up !
Thanks a lot buddy I try to be quick and concise in putting it all together!

Yeah that crab ride transition is so powerful and fun to use!
RUclips desperately needed this sort of overview. You're the best
For sure this is such a powerful position and haven’t seen a ton of content on it organized before.
Thank you for always putting out great and detailed instruction. I’ve been playing with the deep lace lately and this is really helpful!
That distance thing answered a lot of questions I had. Thank you
Distance is such a huge principle in general I’m gonna do a huge video on it soon!
One of your best guides yet. Beautiful.
Love your detailed instructions and the examples of many set ups based on different scenarios
Much appreciated! Never used De La X much, but JT Torres was/is a master of it.
He had an amazing one!

12:48 @JonThomasBJJ what if the opponent is in squared stance instead of staggered, can this be applied?
Great video Jon! This is a position I’m starting to get into after playing lasso and spider for awhile. I was wondering if from this position it would be good for a tripod sweep. Thanks!
Tips on Collar Sleeve guard if the opponent has their elbows very tight to their torso in HQ?
Love your stuff, Jon. Are you planning on working with Grappler's Guide again? It would be awesome to get another course from you.
Hey buddy haven’t talked with Jason in a while. Focused more on setting stuff up on my own site currently but might film again with him one day.
@@JonThomasBJJ I'll try to support your page, you've been cranking out so much free stuff and your courses on the GG have helped me a ton.

excelent
I don't like your face but I like your videos!😀
Real question is how to pass this nightmare of a guard. It's so damn difficult.
DLR X is more of one of those positions you really don’t want to allow to happen cause if they are in deep the sweep is so hard to stop. I usually succeed the sweep before a good guy and immediately try to threaten the back with bolo crab stuff.
rip leandro lo
This guy needs two black belts
De La Riva X is like cheating.
It’s such a powerful guard!
